Let me first clear this up: I find rumble incredibly obnoxious. Immersion? A shaking controller in your hands gives you immersion?
How about a slap in the face? How immersive would that be? So now I need to endure a standard controller with extra weight that shakes all over the place. Well, I can always turn it off. I can't turn the heft off, but I can turn the throttling effect off. Well, then, I'm rewarded with a $5 surcharge for this technology I've been aching to get rid of.
For your information, my Playstation 2's rumble is OFF at all times. Upon playing with my HELLSYEAH S CONTROLLER FOR THE XBOX! I got to experience rumble again (which I can't turn off) and was immediately confused at the suggestion that a controller without rumble isn't worth a damn. Rumble is teh suck. Equals obnoxious. Equals dumb. Get rid of it.
Oh, yeah, I forgot to ask, can you actually turn rumble off on the Dualshock 3?
Looks like my next spare controller is going to be the $30 battery operated and extremely slick Logitech PS3 controller.
