Am I the only one that doesn't really see whats so great about CoD4?

Seriously, just another FPS to me....aren't you people sick of them??

Its been basically nothign but FPS for the past 7 years now, im so ****ing sick of them. But when CoD4 came out and everybody says its so great, best game ever, etc...i figured i'd try it for myself...

So after playing I can say its just like every other damn FPS ive ever played....no different, online is typical Call of Duty, which is fun for maybe a week...then its just repetative.

Single player is decent, just like every other FPS though, which will get boring after the first couple of levels.....

Maybe im not one to judge because I hate FPS games....Halo included.....only one ive enjoyed in a looong time has been Rainbow Six Vegas, only one thats different from all these other ones where its acutally realistic....

I am sick of FPSs, but COD4 is different. It provides the best competitive atmosphere since Counter-Strike, and leagues and clans are what made Counter-Strike fun. So I look forward to league play for COD4.

The single player is pretty high quality stuff to, despite it just being shooting.

It's almost always opinion. IMO, it's great but not the best to come along in years. Though I think it gets too much flak and praise at the same time.

Graphically it looks good but barely stays on the top ten, having almost no physics save for some slight ragdoll effects (which clip) and a few objects getting tossed around here and there. But I suspect that there would be a problem keeping it smooth if you bump it up too much.

Gameplay wise, you can keep the same stuff from the previous games and piss off people who wanted change, or change the gameplay and piss off many fans. Remember how quite a few CoD fans hated it for being Modern Warfare?

Sound...... Pretty good music and weapon effects. Voice acting is no pushover and is certainly quite good. Almost as good as HL2 voice acting, I'd say.

Story... Lol, the plot takes dumps on every other CoD game to date.

Crysis is loads better than CoD4 (at least SP-wise). CoD4's SP wasn't even better than CoD1's. I even enjoy CoD1/UO's MP more. The maps in CoD4 are terrible.

Um, no princess, I generalized the antagonists in a video game as terrorists, whilst seperating theantagonists in another video game in order to make fun of the fact that CoD4 isn't much different than CoD2, thereby comforting the TC in his feeling that CoD4 isn't the greatest thing ever.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I related terrorism to the nazis instead of seperating it.:?

I really don't like the genre anymore so i'm a little biased but yes, it feels just like any other FPS... and since i don't online game with FPS' much...even moreso is it "just like the others"

Terrorists? Nazis? Gays? Now this conversation is starting to get interesting.

But you're right. They created an unambiguously evil badguy to fight against. Nazis pretty much fit the bill but rather than opting for historical accuracy like they have before they opted tofabricate a new conflict rather than a pre-existing one. They choose a simplified good vs evil formula over something that could have made for interesting political commentary. Who are the bad guys? Russians and Arabs! Yep the good old American stereotype of evil in the modern era. So in effect they created a wonderful piece of American propaganda.

It's a sad fact that COD4bares alot of similarities to the propaganda films of WWII, Vietnam and the Cold War.

COD2 just in modern times? I don't think COD2's campaign offered many things COD4 did.OneShot112

Actually COD4 does beat out CoD1 and COD2. However even COD4stands tall against UO.
