It just seems like Nintendo Sony and Microsoft have just ran out of ideas. I own an xbox one and it actually does LESS than my xbox 360. And that's sad. I just don't see the advantage to the 8th gen.

So you spend less time on a console that has been on store shelves for three months than with one that was released in 2005?
Every gen starts out slow. By this time next year these threads will look like people just jumped to conclusions

Does less how?
@lostrib: mostly from a hardware standpoint. These systems are far too similar to pc hardware. They use x86 architecture. And that's extremely easy to develop for. Meaning these game consoles are already being tapped out. They struggled to get COD ghosts to run at 1080p 60fps. And COD isn't a very demanding game. So I'm concerned about the future of these consoles. Meaning that games will reach a point where they can't look any better.

Well to be honest the performance of Ghosts on PC was pretty atrocious as well. They most likely have not been fully tapped out
I think it is premature to ask this when the 8th generation is now in full steam. Ask again in the next year if things change for you.
lol, dude.
the gen just started.
what the hell do you want?
the 7th gen was amazing but it didn't happen overnight.

Im guessing you have no idea how barebones the PS3 and 360 were at launch. Wanted to download a PS3 demo at its launch? You had to sit there and stare at the download screen for hours until it finished. No background downloading. And thats just the beginning of it.

so this is "less" than your 360? I'm so fucking lost.

Amazing how a 300 million dollar game with 2009 graphics does not run well on PC or consoles. Maybe Activision should have paid their employees.
I don't understand what people want, this gen just started it's been literally 2 months that Xbox and PS have had their hardware out, Nintendo should be doing better I agree but FFS people have some patience the gen just began what do you expect 100 AAA games in the year? This thread is stupid.

What a load of bullshit.
This gen is underwhelming because there isn't a big leap from the last generation. There is nothing on the x1 or ps4 that would seem impossible on the ps3 or 360. The Wii U is a step down from the last gen.
like most others have said, we just started the gen. if you remember how the 360 was at launch, it was not exactly fantastic, it all came along the way, both in what the console could do, and how the games were.
I am pressy sure this gen will be alot like that aswell.
last gen didn't take off for MS until about a year later, didn't take off for Sony for about 2 years
previous gens are hard to let go of for publishers and developers, after all there's a larger userbase and more potential for sales, and no real motive to rush out and release games on systems they haven't worked on without much of a userbase
If you ever find something lackluster, overrated, generic, pretentious etc etc you are never ever alone. There will be scores of bitter people on SW who agree with you.
Its only been 2 months and you are already complain as if you seen all there is to see.
people like to bitch so much around here.
@Nengo_Flow: agree so much!! People act as if within the two months we should have had Halo 5,6 and 7 and uncharted 4,5,6 let he devs understand the tech and build games for it ,and we haven't even had E3 yet!!!
this gen will be so long, you wont even remember launch, years from now.... Let it breath a bit.
To your point however, with staleness.... MAKE NEW IP and problem is mostly solved. There are maybe 3 franchises I played last gen im still itching to play more of.... I want new stuff and I don't care if I dont get to be master chief, solid snake, kratos, or marcus fenix for 10 years....
That's why I wait 2-3 years before buying a console. There is never anything interesting from the get go of any gen
We have a lot of time left in this gen. Don't think it's fair to call it lackluster when it's still in the early stages.
The last time I was truly excited about a new gen from the get-go was 6th gen. Obviously the jumps just aren't as big as they used to be, plus console makers aren't too concerned about releasing bad ass launch window titles anymore.
So yeah, this gen has kicked off lame, even more so than 7th gen.
But of course its far too early to say anything and I'm sure this gen will bring about some killer stuff, especially in a couple of years.
@seanmcloughlin: How is it bulshit? HOW? It's not bulshit its TRUTH.
What you're implying is the visuals won't get any better from here on out because the systems are "tapped out". That's why it's bullshit
They will develop new ways of doing things in years to come that will make games today look like total shit. It happens every single gen and I don't know why you think this one would be different.
I have all next gen systems, yet I play the 360 more right now. Do I regret going ahead and getting the PS4 and One? Nope. I don't have to worry about getting one come Feb and March when the games start coming.
@ stuff238
Who died and made you king of Generation Assignment Processing. Mind you the other consoles improved only in power, their controllers (or any other hardware) are virtually unchange .
PC doesn't even bother with gens anymore they get the good stuff as soon as its available.
And Why Shouldn't the Move and Kinect be 8th ?
Admitted, its all about power to you !
It looks like any other gen to me. Ok games at launch, and great games for the near future (except for Snes, N64, Dreamcast and Xbox, which released with amazing games).
Sometimes i wonder for how long have people who make these threads been gaming...?
