Unless you have a MacBook, then NO.
MacBooks, based on experiences from friends, use it alot for casual pick up and play games, and have efficient battery life. Otherwise, running longer games, laptops in general are a waste of money.
Even as an aspiring writer, I personally find laptops (Windows Based) a complete and utter waste.

Because Macbooks are the only laptops with good battery life, right?
Right...?
And it's so hard to find a plug in where you're going to do some actual gaming, right? Definitely. I find myself gaming when I'm stranded alone on remote islands, hiking the Rocky mountains, and even when paragliding over the Pacific. And I can NEVER find a plug.It depends if you are always on the move a laptop PC is the best choice usually. But for probably any other situation a desktop PC usually ends up being better because it is cheaper and with better performance and usually has more functionality with other devices than a laptop.
Me too. I have a laptop of mobile email, web browsing, social sites and MS office. I play some game son my laptop such as Plants vs Zombies but my Desktop is where i play the majority of my PC games.I dislike laptops for gaming and for that purpose alone they´re not a very good investment if you ask me.

[QUOTE="Words-of-Sorrow"]That's a pretty high end game, does it run pretty well?Sadly I don't have my own desktop, so I have to use my laptop. It's not got good specs, but I didn't buy it for gaming so I don't really mind. I can run and play some of the older titles though, like Medieval 2.

Nope :P Most settings have to be on low (or off). Playable framerate, but it can get pretty slow on the larger battles.
Im with TC...I love playing on my laptop...Granted im pretty much stuck with what it has without upgrade...but hey I can live a 9800gt(gtx260m desktop equivalent) pretty much the rest of the 360/ps3 gen im hoping. My desktop is currently without a gpu(artifacts)..But Im just going to keep it up on this laptop for now.
I'd be delighted with laptops if it weren't for the costs compared to a desktop gaming PC.
My 2007 Toshiba laptop is unfortunately too underpowered for this generation's games. The only games I have that I can play at full detail on it are Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat, Pacific Fighters, and Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. Even games like Doom 3 and BF2 are too much for it. The thing cost me $900 when it was brand new.
There are two different types of computers in my eyes.
1. The big, monster rig with a huge tower with lights and fans everywhere, that has one or multiple extremely GPUs and a lot of cores at high speed on the CPU.
2. the small, sleek laptops you carry around to read e-mails, do school work on etc.

The fact that I can't upgrade a laptop makes me stay away from one.
I also rather play with a real nice M&K.

I plug a keyboard and mouse into mine to game on, but yeah desktop is better
Pretty much kills the point of portability...
I game on my laptop all the time, because I have breaks in between classes at Uni, so I can catch up on some work or play some games if I have time to spare. Gaming laptop are actually quite cheap if you shop around as well, I got an Asus G71GX a few months ago for just $450 dollars including tax and shipping.
I don't think my friends and I would play sessions of LoL together without them. We have one friend that brings in a desktop, and that thing is a space shuttle compared to what we bring. But if it was any other game that actually required good specs, we would be playing on desktops.
laptop gaming looks nice and not to mention convinient for when you take trips. i wish i had a gaming laptopmoving_penguin
My G73JH say yes
I would say the are a very poor choice for a gaming machine. They overheat by nature of their design, the parts are too proprietary to upgrade in the long term, they're expensive and failure prone. The only thing they offer is compact size and portability which I don't see as being necessary when gaming. I also think the LAN party argument is moot because personally I have an EATX 4U steel (35lbs empty) server case I lug around to LAN parties and it's not a big deal.PS2_ROCKSWow you need to see better laptops.

All I'm saying is you pay a premium for portability and end up with a less reliable product.
