Am I the only one who thinks the PSP is too fragile?

I Own a PSP 1000

I love it's games but hardware wise it's been nothing but trouble

the UMD's are prone to dust and particulae, once they get in there it's very hard to get them out

If a UMD is too shaken up then some internal parts may actually break, (it Happened to my Killzone: Liberation)

My D-Pad at one time Stopped responding, had to take it to Sony for it to be repaired

And Today It finally Happened It won't read UMD's, When I insert a UMD It does a weird noise and It doesn't recognise the game

Say what you want about the 360, I Own one since 2007 and I never had any problems

But the PSP has been nothing but trouble

Now you could make the argument that it received a tougher treatment than my 360, which is True, but the difference is this is a Handheld, you're supposed to use it when you're not Home, you're supposed to take to camping trips, it'll be sometimes lost inside your bags and stuff like that

I'v owned a Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and a GBA, but this is my first handheld that has ever caused my any type of problems

You'd think a Handheld Console would be more resistant than This

Sorry for the Rant guys, i'm just pretty ticked off that my PSP won't read UMD's and I needed to get that out of my system

The system itself I would say no. The UMDs I am a little concerned with, not much though.

The PSP is was built tough, the DS however seems very fragile to me. I'm hoping my hinge doesn't break on me.

My analog stick is completely broken. It's always moving down, even when I push it up. Yeah, it is fragile.

Send it in to Sony. My PSP 3000's analog did the same thing. It always went down no matter what I pushed. I sent it in to Sony and got a NEW one

Will it cost anything? Sorry, I haven't sent a system in for repairs before, so I wouldn't know.

Only the UMD I worry about. The system itself is fine.

For me the Xbox 360 has been nothing but trouble.

The UMD's plastic enclosing give the illusion of protection, but the ensemble is as vulnerable as a naked CD. I've already broken two PSP games from just sitting in my bag. I've learned since to always keep them in a UMD specific case.

What Really Grinds my gears is that now i'll have to choose, either I sell all my games and my memory card or I buy a new PSP And i'm not looking forward to either

My PSP is fine, my DS I'm actually on my second one. My first one stopped reading cartridges. Both I think are good quality though.

You think the PSP1000 is fragile? Just take a good look at the PSP2000 and PSP3000 models then. They are even more prone snap in two just by holding them. The PSP Go as I've heard was made more durable though.

never had an issue with the UMDs,

I think the 1000 feels stronger than the 3000 but i have not had a problem with either. by brothers 1000s nub broke after a few years.

I don't think it would take a drop from waist height all that well. :(

but come on...way better than the early 360s! they were just defective

I've dropped my PSP 1000 on a hard surface like 3 times. It still works perfectly.

I didn't play my DS, turned it on after a year, and the top screen went out.
