Am I the only person excited for Modnation Racers?

I was in the beta and found it to be a blast, aside from some tech annoyances like long load times and some framerate dips. But the game's not done, so it'd be unfair to judge it all off that.

However, this is a new Sony title in the 'Play, Create, Share' line, so I expect it to be a smooth playing experience once it launches this Summer.

It's coming within mere months and there's no excitement. Why not?

I can't wait. I love kart racers and I dig the creativity.

I got my copy pre-ordered on Overstock for $38.94. :D

I'm excited for it; it looks like it could be a lot of fun. But if it turns out to be worse than Sonic's new racing game, I may just pick that up instead; especially since it'll be cheap by the time this comes around.

Hell to the no, dude! You're not alone. This game has been on my radar since E3. The track creation stuff looked pretty boss. I went out of my way to get into the beta and it was a lot of fun. Agreed on the load times and framerate issues though. Other than that, I thought the way the "menu" was set up with the Hub and everything was really cool. The only downside to me is no 4-player split screen, only 2. :( Ehh, better than nothing. Hopefully it's 2 player split screen online.

The one thing I didn't notice anybody mention that I thought was great in the beta and might encourage more people to get mics or at least chat with people is the integrated chat menu while you're waiting for a race to begin. I thought that was pretty cool. It reminded me of the way PC games are set up.

I think this game could surprise a lot of people. It has the potential to be on the same level as LittleBigPlanet and it may be coming out in just a few months. If it turns out to be good expect to hear a lot more about it around here, considering it's an exclusive.

last time I played or wanted to play a kart game was on the 64.

Now if I want to play ridiculous games with funny characters and unrealistic driving, I'll play NFS.

I really enjoyed Mario Kart DS. Easily the best Mario Kart, imo.

Rock on. Yeah, I feel those 2 things will be polished up right before its release. The dude pretty much said that on the 'Quick Look'.

I always like to see newly formed devs do something cool and fun. Media Molecule did it with LBP. While I don't think this will have near the impact, and I don't think it'll get nearly as high scores, I think I'll dig it more. I absolutely love kart racers and it's fun being able to have the creativity right there for you to dig into and keep things fresh.

I just hope people latch on with this one. I want to see the community flourish and create some nice tracks and stuff. The Modnation Racers Gamespot/Gamefaqs board is so dead, so I can only hope the "official" release date announcement will bring this one some much needed life, as it seems to deserve it.

I love the track editor to bits. It's great how you can make a simple track look like you've spent hours creating it by using the auto fill feature.

My problem is, is Modnation Racers should be free. Yes, I said it...it should be free.

In a nutshell, because I'm pressed for time (I wanna get back to BFBC2 :) ), MODNATION RACERS is exactly what Home should be and primarilly isn't.....engagingly fun with the ability to cause to you want to play and stay in, and socialize for many hours, over and over again. The Social aspects of the game have vast far reaching potential, and that potential is what PSN doesn't have right now.

This could be more than just some fleeting, here today, gone tomorrow game...it could be so much more.

Sony is marketing this game all wrong.

What you're saying DOES make a good deal of sense, but obviously that's not going to happen. What Sony needs if they want to create that sort of community is to put stuff like that into Home. I agree though, a game like this is the perfect vehicle (puns are lame) to get people to go online, meet people, and have some fun. I don't think something like an FPS or more serious game would work as well as ModNation for that kind of interaction.

Dude, that's awesome! I was so bummed because I thought United Front said only 2 player splitscreen. It turns out that was just for 2 player splitscreen ONLINE. 4 PLAYER SPLITSCREEN FTW!!! 8)

It's a full retail title, though it may not cost $60. I've seen games like this come out new for $50.

If they get the gameplay down, trust me this will be an AMAZING game (competitive). I mean, are you kidding me?

- A huge level designer with endless possibilities for the gameplay!

- Customizable characters/karts

- 4 player split screen local multiplayer

- 2 player online split screen multiplayer

- 1 player mode

- should be running smooth by the finished product

- looks great visually compared to Mario Kart Wii AND will run at a higher resolution

That is just amazing... Honestly I can see this being one of the most fun local multiplayer games since Smash Bros Brawl. It will either be hours spent customizing different things with your friends or hours racing (or probably both!). But, like I said, they need a get the gameplay to be perfect. If they do, then move over Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 64, AND Mario Kart DS.

I was amazed at the stuff people were able to create just using the reported 15% of content the devs gave people to work with. The only thing holding me back from thinking it had a shot at being one of the best kart racers ever was the lack of 4 player splitscreen. I was disappointed enough that after the Sega and Sonic All Stars Racing demo I thought about buying that just based on having splitscreen. Now that I know ModNation will have 4 player splitscreen, I'm good with just that. I mean, I was gonna get ModNation regardless. Now I just don't feel a need to get Sega and Sonic.

I want the new Sega racer real bad, but I know it'll dip in price real quick. I hear it's real good. And you got all the nostalgia in there. :)

Alot of people are looking forward to it, just not talking about it much. Especially with GOW3 coming, FF13 flopping everywhere :(, and Bad Company VS MW2 discussions. Though I have seen 2 threads (besides this one) on MNR recently. I remember you criticizing United Front Games for shamelessly copying LBP, calling it a "slap in the face" to Media Molecule. Even going as far as to quote Garnett Lee on the matter. Anyways its good to hear that you accept the design and like it alot.TREAL_Since

Yeah, I thought it'd be a piece of utter crap early on. It looked like nothing but a cash-in on Media Molecule's hard work. And while I still feel it's a bit of that, it actually looks and plays damn good.

I liked lbp for the first few months then forgot about it for a while, then picked up back up and was hooked on the new content. This game could have a similar result, if it is as expansive which is hard for me to believe since its just racing. For a full price racing game i'll stick with GT5 http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/gt5/d5202.html, if this is a well priced Downloadable game, i mean around 30-40$ then i would consider purchasing it.
