As good as those look, they are invalid as it is NOT PGR4 and no proof they aren't from photomode and there not a sign of a single Jaggie there which PGR 3 is riddled with on the car models in both gameplay and replay.
Those GT5P aren't gameplay shots either and in PGR3, motion blur is added during gameplay in place of Anti-Aliasing.

Whn comparing the shots of Rikusaki (GT5:P) and Pro_wrestler (FM2), I have to got with GT5:pro
Mostly because the GT car tires and wheels are acutally round. Look at Pro-wrestler's pics, the wheels and tires are made up of multiple straight sides. Based on those shots alone, GT is far better. In-game, I don't know.

well, the car models have much less appearent jaggies, have more detail, and i just heard DJ shadow is on the soundtrack.. so that's a plus. And 1080P at 60fps is different from 720P at 30fps (although i think GT5 will be 720P, but that's my guess)

True, but to be fair GT5 is not true 1080p. It's 1280x1080p which is still no slouch, and PGR4 is pushing AA/AF.
I'm not disagreeing GT5 will end up looking better...but I honestly think it's not a huge difference like some fanboys make it out to be (and that thread is proof of it), and we still have to see what "damage" and "weather" will do as far as taking system resources. With the amount of detail it's pushing, they are going to have to sacrifice something to keep that polycount up for damage.
Did you know the weather, specfically the rain effects is calculated real time on the cars, thats cool. \
When GT5 puts all this stuff into it like it say it will, and keep the same resolution, polycount, and FPS...then I will say without a doubt ps3 is more powerful. Seriously you wanna see a system pushed this side of Crysis. New york with storm effects on, the 360 chugs at spots, but it's pushing geometry at a stupid rate, specifically at that bridge (In PGR4, that bridge alone is in the neighborhood of 1-1.5M polys a second, that is NUTS)...thats something GT5 hasn't touched yet.
and your right, I think it's going to be resolution, and possible frame rate.

What is crazy is that by this time next year we will be able to play @ higher than Very High. A patch that includes all the Ultra High settings and textures is coming probably toward the end of this year.

Agreed.
I hope it clears a few misconceptions on both games. Because that was the best comparision i've seen.
I hope it clears that
A. The cars in PGR4 are pretty damn decent themselves
B. Both games environments are very similar, GT5's don't suck like some make it out. (GT5's city is certaintly impressive, very compariable)
C. Both games are very comparible, but as of now, specifically in the car detail...GT5 has the upper hand. (Fact is fact, GT5's car just has more geometry to them, 120k vs 200k)
Like I said, it'll be interesting to see how this game holds if they add real damage and weather effects...both of which can take considerable system resources. PGR4's damage is nothing special, but it is damage, and damage takes a decent amount more polys to render. PGR4's weather however is rendered on the fly (specifically the car effects like rain/snow) by the CPU, and is prob. the best weather system i've seen.

GT5's isn't painted on at all, I would say PGR invests more geometry on them, but then I'd say the lighting overall is more impressive in GT5. It's give and take, both have advantages.
