Whomever is most focused in terms of gaming is who I want making games. Period... Amazon is an amazing company.
Prime would be your online pass and because it offers Sooooo much more than games it would be instantly worth it...
Games would would be discount city for Xbox through DD.
Again, if they're focused on a gamer centric future... Bring it.
Xbox Prime.
Would welcome Xbox being passed over to Bezos' crew, they might end up being a lot less malignant
Amazon consistently has digital sales that rival and at times surpass Steam.
I'd have no problem with them at the head of a console.
Okay, assuming this was legit, do they have the cash to make it happen? It's not just buying the brand, they'd have to deal with the costs of maintaining it and all it's associated IP's and studios. Let us not forget that so far it cost some 7 Billion to keep it alive (and this is not counting anything related to the X1, just up until 2011/2012). Money which they still haven't been able to regain with the brand.
Would be a very interesting move, I'll give them that, but I just don't see it happening. Plus MS has a long term plan with the brand, so I doubt they'd be willing to sell it on whim.. Time will tell I suppose.
I think Amazon are pretty damn rich to handle most of what it takes to be honest. I'm all for it.
First, Microsoft is only one who makes right now profit from Xbox. Why would they sell this?
Second, if people want to get off MS then this means 2 things:
1. ps5 costs 1000 dollars
2. if ms is gone then Apple joins console war, kills Sony and then people will cry.
Microsoft gave online gaming. You all should be thankful for that!!! Lets take PS plus, store, trophies, online gaming matchmaking, stats, ranks and all off, lets see how happy you all would be then. Microsoft gave all this. Only stupid people say that MS should leave.

It doesn't mean any of those things lol. At least be realistic. As for the bold, have you seen how that 'profit' stacks up with the rest of the profit they get from other more successful divisions?
There is no way in hell that Microsoft is getting rid of Xbox. The Xbox is more than just a gaming console to Microsoft; it is key to them winning the next great battle in the technology world, which is the battle over being the dominant Living Room entertainment delivery ecosystem. In the upcoming years, this is going to be a very profitable market and Microsoft would be very shortsighted if they got rid of the device that they have been building up to be their entry into this market. Microsoft has lost the last few big technology market battles such as smartphones and tablets, so they want to win this next one really bad. They are not going to throw away everything that they have been building up for years and give up their shot at winning the next big technology battle by getting rid of Xbox.
And if it actually did happen, it would be very bad for gamers (all gamers, even Xbox haters that never buy Xbox consoles). Microsoft has done more for the growth of the gaming industry than Nintendo or Sony have done over the last 2 generations. Can you imagine how terrible online gaming would still be right now without Microsoft since it was obvious Sony and Nintendo had no clue about how to do online gaming well without Xbox Live leading the way. And look at how much better they have made gaming controllers; the Xbox 360 controller is widely considered to be the greatest controller of all time and both Sony and Nintendo were heavily influenced by the Xbox 360 controller for the design of the Pro Controller and DualShock 4, and ALL gamers have benefited from this. I can keep going on about how Microsoft led the way with harddrives in consoles, digital marketplace, achievements, increasing the popularity of western games on consoles, etc.
Even if you have never owned a Xbox console and have no interest in ever buying one, Microsoft's existence in the gaming industry has still done a lot to make gaming better for you. It would be bad for all gamers if they left.

Interesting way of looking at it; I had not thought of those possibilities.
But even with that considered, I don't think Amazon could do as good a job as Microsoft are doing with the Xbox brand, they just don't have the experience.

Not a bad idea since Xbox makes them no profit...but Android does.
No chance, Microsoft wouldn't put so much effort into advertising and releasing Xbone One if they are going to offload the brand a month after launch. They may sell it off at the end of the gen, depending on how the console gaming market looks at that point, but for now nope.
A source from some random guy on twitter?
yeah a guy who said that MS will bankrupt soon. lol
Lol famousmortimor. Cboat is debunked and gone and Thuway is a mental case.
Anyway to entertain the topic: I would feel like someone handed me back my hot girlfriend after spending the night with her. My Xbox just wouldn't be the same anymore. But I could grow to love again.

maybe... then again, what does Amazon NOT do well? They've created some of the most forward thinking business models in the modern day and they've completely decimated our old perception of retail shopping.... Whether or not they are skilled in the area is up for debate, but I'd put money down that if they were bold enough to do something this costly, they've done their homework... and most likely better than everyone else. It'll be interesting if it ever happens.
The part that makes this hard to believe is that these talks were supposedly going on before the X1 reveal.
The X1 is such a mess idk if it can be saved. People buy consoles to game on first and usually use a streaming service like Netflix, etc second. Amazon would have to lower the price and seriously consider dumping Kinect.
I'd be more willing to buy one as I like Amazon as a company and already use them to buy music and tv shows.
I'd rather they just come up with their own.
another console with exclusive games and content would be oversaturation... Steambox, ps4, xone, amazonBOX.... bleh. Id rather them buy xbox, develop that stable of unused franchises and develop new ones, tie me into amazon prime for my online subscription and they'll own my living room.... Unlike Microsoft, I actually buy and rent movies, music and entertainment from Amazon because I believe its sustainable for that company and my content will be safe, years from now.... unlike "zune marketplace" crapolla and the nonsense sony pushes at you. I'd love to see this happen actually.
This would be a magnificent acquisition from Amazon. They have a very pro-consumer mindset and have installed pretty bombastic features in their business divisions that have been frankly, very ambitiously progressive.
They are also huge pioneers of Cloud tech which could serve as a very positive outcome for their Online components. Not to mention, they could more than easily give Steam and PlayStation Plus a serious run for their cash in weekly deals and discounts, as well as retail exclusive deals

he's never once said that lol
More Twitter douches........
What was that about MisterX begin a mental case again??????
Sony Fan continue to be the clowns of SW.
check my new thread for his update, cutie <3
@FreedomFreeLife:
? that graph has nothing to do with xbox. :(
And xbox one is sold at a loss.

Amazon wouldn't make it work. Xbox is just a hardware device heavily backed by MSs services and expertise in the software and networks area, It's also MS clout which has got it 3rd party support. Amazon is a retail store with experience in streaming and DDs.
The Azure platform would be closed off as well. The WHOLE thing would become beyond worthless. You can't sell off a console like it's a tangible single product, because the box we buy is only about half the product.
My first reaction would be... R.I.P Nintendo and Sony.
But on second thought, I kind of think Amazon would cater more to the "casuals" than even Microsoft. So I'm not really sure. It seems like it makes sense for Amazon to have another hub to access their marketplace - so why not do a console? I'm just not sure they will go all in as far as forming AAA game studios and all that.
Lol famousmortimor. Cboat is debunked and gone
That didn't happen, Shitbat. You should stop listening to misterxmedia.
Amazon would probably make it a lot better, anyway. This is in both our interests. :)
Amazon is probably my favorite company, i would just be nervous about the console that they make. Microsoft does a great job of making Sony better. I dont know how to feel about it if its true, exciting but kind of scary at the same time.
Amazon would be better off making their own console.
It's not like they don't have experiance with hardware, their kindles make up like 40% of the tablet market and they've only been around for like 3 years.
Would be alot better/faster/easier to buy Xbox.
Xbox comes with a big recognizable name brand, a great online network, cloud network (i think), great controller, and a huge system selling IP.
@crimsonman1245: That's true, I was thinking only of the actual console hardware and brand name, not the controller design or the online infrastructure.
That said, I still thinik they'd be better off building something from the ground up that patches into their existing systems.
That would definitely cause an upheaval in the industry. And I can see why each party would want to make it happen.

Purchase of the Xbox brand would likely come included with the infrastructure (at least to some extent, I imagine), plus the entire point behind buying the platform would be to offer more services. Instead of paying an XBL fee plus all your content services fees (MLB fee, HBO, Netflix, etc.), you could buy into Tiers of Prime that would get you TV programming, shipping services, free game content (ala PS+), and so on. It's an interesting proposition, and I wonder if Amazon's product versatility would enable them to appeal to consumers across the device spectrum (with Xbox services on each). MS' efforts haven't ever quite caught on.
