When reading "I have used 3d on 3ds ,movies and games. People say "3d adds nothing" witch is not true. 3d adds just as much as HD doe" from your blog, I am inclined not to take anything you say seriously. There's been loads of games that you could add to the horror genre, Silent Hill, early Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Penumbra series, Call of Cthuhlu: Dark Corners of the earth(The segment where you're being chased... wow), Cryostatis, Clive Barker's Undying, System Shock 2, Nosferatu : The Wrath Of Malachi, Clock Tower, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and the list goes on.
And don't rebut this with "Their not horror games", beause there's no fixed definition what horror is and it varies between person to person.

Well, I'm sure many including myself feel it is one of the greatest horror games of all time, and they wouldn't be wrong in believing that. Me thinks penumbra is far superior! Most people played that game with a friend (Based on the reaction videos on youtube) and played in the middle of the day with a friend. I mean thats not gonna be scary AT ALL. I played on my own at 1-3am everynight with headphones cranked up. Not that s*** was terrifying. Even when nothing was happening and I figured out the pattern at which the monsters would appear I was still scared just walking around. The music constantly made me feel uneasy and on edge. It was a teriffic game.
Also did anyone see the easter egg of the monster appearing and vanishing? I saw that part in game before I realised it was an easter egg type thing and it petrified me

dom2000
I think its not. Penumbra is worse. The controls feel awkward somehow and clumsy. AMnesia had better controls even though they seem similar. Also the enemies in Penumbra are crap. Dogs and spiders and giant worms. Plus its a lot less scary when you can kill the dogs standing on a crate with a pick axe. Amnesia was better because you had no choice but to leg it everytime you saw a monster. THAT'S true horror

Well i played penumbra before amnesia so perhaps it is clouding my judgement but it seemed so fresh, and the enemies had much more variety. And yes using that exploit ot kill the dogs does detract from the mood but i didnt do that....+ the 2nd penumbra you have no weapons similar to amnesia and the enemies did not just disappear into thin air and werent so scripted like amnesia! Amnesia was just far too predictable in my opinion to be scary...much of the ambient sound was just for show and did not signify anything at all which sucked and it basically had one single enemy which was very easy to aviod and you dont even run into it all the often! The puzzles also in general seemed easier than the penumbra seris i thought, but perhaps that was because i had prior experience with that sort of puzzle!Me thinks penumbra is far superior!Good for you, it's not. For its time it is! From a massive Penumbra fan Amnesia was a dissappointment! It was still good there just wasnt any real in increase in quality and they seemed to just recycle the same old tricks! Amnesia seemed to be more focused though. Like it had more of a purpose. I preferred the setting too. With the lanterns and torches etc. Like how you could enter a room and have them all extinguish. There was more a sense of hopelessness in Amnesia. And I agree the monsters became predictable but the fact that they could vanish into thin air sometimes made me feel uneasy cos I kept thinking they could metarialise out of thin air too. Especially after that glitch/easter egg I mentioned. Playing through it a second time won't be scary at all anymore now though

Some people have a more active imagination. The game uses sound and atmosphere more than actually seeing anything, which is left up to the imagination of the player.
Also, physical surroundings play a big part too, it you're are playing it in the dark, with headphones on..etc, you're going to have a different experience than if you played it in the middle of the day, with a other people around.
I didn't think it was terrifying, but it was chilling, and very effective at what it set out to do.

Well i played at night with headphones on...i was seriously hyped for the game and still thought it was great dont get me wrong i just was a little disappointed thats all! But i played the game very logically lol my mission was to really get into it and play as if i was there...but since i knew after the first few times that that woman screaming behind the door is just in my mind i just started to ignore it...however if they made a new monster that screamed like that i would have found the game much more scary....monster variety was the games my problem in my opinion[QUOTE="dom2000"][QUOTE="millerlight89"]Good for you, it's not.For its time it is! Of course the Youtube videos were over the top. They had to be to get plenty of views. I know half of the people who made those reaction videos are just desperate for views.

Condemned 2 is one of those games I forgot I bought. It was absolutely terrible. Wasn't even scary. Not to mention you had to find those items that wouldn't stop making noise and destroy them. The best moment with that game was when it got traded in.
Condemned 1, however, is a good game.

The bear was the scariest part of Condemned 2 by far, and even then it was pretty much a trial and error fight, not really scary so much as frustrating after a while.
Condemned 2 completely ruins the subtlety and atmosphere of condemned 1, particularly the further into the game you get. It's amazing to me it was even made by the same people.

Meh condemned was good. but not a good horror game. ita was all dark and dreary looking and had awful controls. But I appreciate the effort they put into the whole FPS combat thing. The only good part in respect to horror in Condemned 2 was walking past some mannequins and suddenly when I turned around they had moved and were right in my face. Now that was scary. But Amnesia was way more scary

Cosign, Condemened 1 was so good, LOVED it when I got it on xbox360 launch day. The atmosphere was sooo good in that game.
The second game though.. wow was I dissapointed... up there with the 2nd Deus Ex as most dissapointing sequels for me.
Ah I see we have the usual "I watched the game on youtube because I don't have the system to play it on" judgements of the game again... I laughed at the vid but I like the game a lot.

What I meant was that the game was scary (I own it) but the people on Youtube make it out to be waaay scarier than it is
