I've never played this game, but it looks very interesting. I love horror games. How much is it and I'm wondering if I'd be able to play it on my computer.

$15 on steam now. I bought it a while ago and only finished it this week and its awesome. I've never had a game evoke such fear in me. People should definitely support the dev guys at Frictional. I am now playing through Penumbra Black Plague. Finished Overture last night and it was rather dull in comparison to amnesia. The enemies were kinda bad. Black Plague is much better though I think. Maybe not the setting but the sense of fear

more like the yawning decent not scary at all. All it does it distrack you with some kind of puzzle then when you turn around you get OOO GA OOO GA BOOO GA!

millerlight89
Actually it was scary and many will agree it is one of the top horror games of this generation.

i couldn't get into the game, the lunatic meter (we its called) was way too intrusive and I just got bored of wandering around looking for things.

Turning insane is supposed to be intrusive. Its supposed to really mess up your vision and coordination to force you back into the light, but the monsters see you easier then. Its a very balanced and well used mechanic. Stay in the light and die or stay in the shadows and go crazy. Also all fricitonal games are about running around looking for things and using them in puzzles. This is well known. Amnesia is even more dumbed down compared to penumbra in terms of going around looking for things. Also how did you play the game? I hate hearing about guys saying it wasn't scary etc. when they played it in the midle of the day with their family walking around. Play the game how its supposed to be played

so few horror games out so thats not that great. 95% of devs dont even know that gaming horror and movie horror are not the same.

Well, I'm sure many including myself feel it is one of the greatest horror games of all time, and they wouldn't be wrong in believing that.

You're arguing with someone who openly admitted to only ever watching a youtube video of a playthrough.

No I mean just from walking from the light into the dark was an atmosphere killer for me, I never got that far into the game because just my characters reaction to being in the dark or something along with w/e sounds started happening got me annoyed. I think it should have been more subtle And I didn't think it was scary, basically you just wander around, walking into dark spaces breaks the tension/atmosphere, and something moves you just run away.

I expected a Mega 64 spoof, but this one was pretty cool.

Amnesia is an amazing game, now if only I had access to my gaming PC so I can finish it. Damn intel card issues.

I don't get scared when playing games. I have had quick moments of desperate panic, however. The only games to put me in that state were the Stalker games as well as Amnesia.

I have to kinda agree. Sure some parts where scary but it the Youtube videos just overdid it. I mean the water beast wasn't scary at all it was pathetic

OB-47
Not trying to judge or anything but... maybe you shouldn't watch Youtube videos before playing the game?

I agree. While amnesia was a great horror game, sanity just seemed an artificial method of creating horror through post processing effects. I would have prefered more subtle scares such as alexanders portrait changing.

I've come to notice that most of you guys who say this crap judge based of YouTube....for shame.

agreed. a game isnt even HALF as scary as if youre the person controlling. thats when things get tense and youre the one making the mistakes....its intense. i wish more people would actually PLAY the game instead of just watching the youtube. i admit thats how i got interested in the game but i played it and my God, watching it is NOTHING like playing it.

Amnesia isn't as scary as people say. I'm not easily scared so maybe that's why.

STALKER was really tense in parts.

Total darkness, low on ammo, bleeding and out of bandages. Turn on flashlight, look around. Something falls, spin around and look, see nothing. Bloodsucker is behind you. Stub toe horribly when you kick in reflex.

And yes I would agree Penumbra is better than Amnesia. It starts off slow but builds up to a great second half. Amnesia starts off great and builds up to a predictable and easy second half. I think the advantage Penumbra has is that halfway through the game the enemies and the dynamic changes as well as taking a big turn in the plot. Amnesia feels mostly the same throughout and by the half-way point you're such a veteran of predicting and avoiding enemies that some of the edge is dulled.

I own the game...

. I played the demo before watching any vids, and played that water beast, and when I watched the youtube vids of that scene in which people were screaming, it was just ridiculous, it wasn't even scary. It was tense, but nothing scary

Also I feel Penumbras world is so much more interesting aswell. It wasn't just the horror but the world and story was very interesting aswell
