Not only was an additional year wasn't enough for them to add RT at launch, but they're not even mentioning consoles now. 🤣

Raytracing looks cool but I can't say I care that much about it. It looked awesome in Spiderman before I turned performance mode back on.

I realized RT is over rated. is it nice yup. but it does not make the game good or bad.

a good or bad game is determined if it has RT?

game not going to score a 3 instead of a 9 because it doesn't have RT.

if you add RT to a game like halo it will become 30fps instead of 60fps. makes no sense for a game that is going to be played 99% of the time online to be 30fps.

Ray tracing means jackshit to me, I don't care if a game has it or not. What confuses me is this games been delayed a full yearand still isn't even close to being finished...wtf were they going to put out last year before the public mocking and nonstop memes?!?

a bit disappointing but I'm not going to pretend Ray Tracing has been some defining feature for PS5/XSX titles thus far..

The mulitplayer seems to be stellar so the big question mark is if the campaign story actually delivers.. we'll see..

RT on consoles is pointless anyway. AMD chips do not have the dedicated resources for it, may as well just go pure rasterisation for frame rates.

I agree. RT has been less than impressive on consoles. AMD just isn’t there yet…

My issue here is we are not very far from launch, and every few weeks we hear about something not coming at launch… All of this after they were content complete in January. This has CP2077 written all over it. Well, I guess Halo hasn’t gone gold and then been delayed again. So it’s not quite that bad, but still. This is wild

If they are already saying its going to be patched later... then I am already saying I will wait till its complete. Why dont they just postpone the whole thing till this game is fully baked.

So now at "launch" you only get one mode that is incomplete? No thanks, not even worth a free download from GP.

The issue for me is if it doesn't have decent campaign (esp if it lacks coop) then I probably won't even touch it. It's not a "principle" thing - I just don't want to play online deathmatch MP with randos anymore at this time in my life. So I've lost all interest at this point until that rights itself

I really try to tell 343 the main game isn't ready for primetime, it needs a delay but its clear Phil wants it out by holiday and that shouldn't be the case. Not every AAA game needs a holiday treatment, a simple delay never hurts the game's reputation. It shows that developers care and so do the fans.

I use RT all the time on PC if a game has it, current-gen can hardly hold a candle to what PC can do.

Even in Spiderman Remastered I turn it off in favor of resolution because what good is RT if it's 1/4 resolution at 1080p?

@davillain-: I think the game was such a shit show it probably needed to be started over from scratch. The extra year was just to iron out bugs in the multiplayer it seems like.

From all the interviews and rumors of the development mess, it looks like what is getting released this Holiday is just a patched together game from whatever broken mess of a game there was.

I mean it was obviously a shit show of a game if all that is getting released this year is a multiplayer mode. What on Earth was about to be released before the delay?

I mean at this point, it’s pretty clear that halo will be an average game that probably will struggle to get above 75 on metacritic, that being said I doubt RT will make any difference one way or another.. probably the worst technology since 3D TVs!

Because the game looks ugly, and with visuals like this, it should be running without RT at an easy 120fps plus. But that's not the case because it was optimized by monkeys.

Then why not just announce this years ago? Last year, when they were still planning to release the game in 2020 and add RT after launch, NEVER did we hear them say that RT is exclusive to pc. Its like they wanted to give console owners hope for something that won't be available.

Yeah, the franchise has been off the rails since Halo 4. The multiplayer might be good, but I expect the story to make little to no sense, and the graphics look awful, so the campaign is likely to be forgettable. And even if the multiplayer is good, it's a shooter, and I've played too many of those to get excited anymore.

One thing that's always certain, nothing is ever guaranteed in the industry. The gameplay has held up very well over the years - the issue with 343 is their storytelling is subpar compared to Bungie, among other issues like inconsistent pacing.

With that all said, it's how curious how enjoyment only arises from the most punishing difficulty with only other players. But you did find issue with not being able to take photographs of animals in a Forza game so perhaps your opinion is equally trite.

My point about the animals in Horizon was only because taking pictures is all i see and hear people talk about. Take pictures on top of a volcano, near a waterfall, in the middle of a desert near an abandoned shack, etc, etc. That's all i've been hearing since Horizon 2. The enjoyment arises from the replayability factor when played in coop, and Legendary is the only option unless you're the kind of person who enjoys facrolling through everything.

This is actually REALLY old news, what is going on. I've been saying it for sometime.

343i are going to be working on Halo Infinite for the next 10 years, including bringing Ray Tracing next year.

Also, I don't think it'll be uncommon, especially in the early years when developers are using older engines. Ray Tracing performance is poor on RDNA 2, they'll have to work hard and re-tweak engines to get it working without too much negative impact.

So it comes down to releasing the game on time or really holding it back just for Ray Tracing.

It's really not as easy as flicking a switch to incorperate.

So, when they were planning to release the game last year, and told us that the RT patch will be available after launch, they were aiming to release the RT patch 2 years plus after the launch of the game? How is it that this game has been in production for what? Six years? And there's no rt, coop, forge and god knows what else?

Curious, why did you even bother with the singleplayer then when only the cooperative is fun, and more importantly, a defining feature of the game(s)? Perhaps you can share with the class your Halo stats via Halo Wavepoint?

It's an AMD title so I imagine the raytracing will be pretty underwhelming. We'll likely just get sone low level implementation of RT shadows and at best some hybrid RT reflections.

I want it to feel more alive, because its an open world game with nice looking scenery. Gave RDR2 as an example because in that game, wildlife did make a big difference for the world feeling more alive. Would it add much when you're driving at 150miles past a zebra? No. But if you do stop in some nice looking place you've found on the map, i think it would add something. Is it enough? No.

I have never used halo wavepoint, and have no idea how/when it tracked your record. And i never said that the OG Halo games are boring, and are only worth playing through in coop. Unless i have a buddy who wants to run it day one, i always beat em at least once solo before doing coop. But that's the good halo games, not the 343i ones. When we're talking about the 343i entries, that's a different story. I tried H4 and H5 solo, and i just stopped playing completely. Solo or coop, i am staying far from these two. Infinite reminded me of Halo 3, so i was curious to see how it turns out, but it must be so great that they're not showing anything less than two months from launch.

Unless i have a buddy who wants to run it day one, i always beat em at least once solo before doing coop. But that's the good halo games, not the 343i ones. When we're talking about the 343i entries, that's a different story. I tried H4 and H5 solo, and i just stopped playing completely. Solo or coop, i am staying far from these two. Infinite reminded me of Halo 3, so i was curious to see how it turns out, but it must be so great that they're not showing anything less than two months from launch.

Yes, animals did have a sizeable role in RDR2 and had a tangible effect with respect to crafting and bartering... but I imagine the taking photographs/snaps of the animals was more fun for you. Maybe Forza can add a road-kill and skin option for you to enjoy? How about that ray tracing though?

All Halo stats are tracked via a Gamertag. So I imagine you have one to share regarding your extensive playthroughs? I'm confused then, you stated the following:

But now you're saying 343i game's aren't good regardless via solo or cooperative so why would you even bring up cooperative if you don't even their games? What about Infinite reminded you of Halo 3?

@Stevo_the_gamer: I just typed my gamertag on their site, and it doesn't show anything. If its tracking since the xbone came out, and i played 1,2,3,reach on the original xbox or the 360, i am not too sure how its supposed to track that.

Because i felt like playing a Halo game since i pretty much skipped H4 and H5. That is it. When they announced the fact that its a new engine, reboot of the series and has a Halo 1 feel in the level design and art direction, it became one of my most anticipated titles, and probably the game i was most curious at seeing some gameplay for. Its after the capaign demo that the hope was lost. BUT i was still planning on getting the game on gamepass, and run through the game in coop on legendary. Now that there's no coop and i don't even have a gpu still, the plans are canned.
