An advantage to PC gaming: Great Free to Play Games.

I've been spending the past 3 days playing world of tanks. Great F2P game! there are also lots of others too like League of Legends and others that have been recommended to me. I love my consoles, but having such a large amount of games available for free is a big plus for PC gaming.

Star Trek mmo is awesome I heard ands its free too.

Now that F2P games are rising on pc (and alot are succesful), I bet we will see them on next gen consoles.

I've yet to play any, but I can see that top-quality F2P games will be a huge boon to PC gaming.

This isn't news F2P games are great. Tribes, Quake Live, World of Tanks, LoL, just to name a few.

They take cut out of sold skin and gun... small cut ofcourse. Basically its like how blizzard will make money out of diablo 3 auction house.

Skins, guns and maps are on sonys/microsofts servers (like cod maps are now). And sony or microsoft takes cut when you buy and download said thing.

Like blizzard will do with diablo 3 auction house. Its 2 players making deal and blizzard takes small cut 20cent - 1 dollar I dont remember now. I guess it depends on how well the item sells, meaning higher bought price higher cut to blizzard.

How on earth is that not a good thing?

its more expensive now if you want to play the "full" game,

unlocking everything is going to cost a pretty penny

Progression is a grind, you get access to limited content and have to play alot before unlocking anything

F2P games are a nice diversion from the CoD releases/clones, they are filling a void that COD created, and quite frankly if it wasn't for the desperately needed diverslty in games right now, would be completely **** had they been released during the pre-cod era.

Only F2P game I have played is Tribes Ascend and its pretty damn good

I personally hate free to play games. I get to play it for free but have to unlock everything at a really slow pace or buy things. Id rather just buy the game for like $30 or $40 and have everything. I hate that today everyone has to have a reason to play games so they make things to unlock.

3 vehicles, 5 maps, and several classes, theres a lot going for tribes compared to something like tribes 2! I don't mind unlocking things, but guns make a HUGE difference and are unlocked at 100k+ xp, only 7 bucks if you want to buy them though! I thought the game was worth 20 bucks so i bought the xp pack to get the vip status (50% more xp) and some upgrades, the chain gun owns, pay 2 win confirmed. Might as well take advantage of the easy victoms and 50% extra xp while everyone is still farming!savagetwinkie

What I'm trying to say though is that it's free. There are games out there that you pay money for and have to put in a ton of hours to unlock stuff, like pretty much every shooter today. If you enjoy it and know you're gonna spend time playing it, paying a few bucks for a weapon/class/ect is worth it. However if you're not enjoying the game, then you lose nothing.

Also a skilled player is still going to dominate over a non-skilled player. Them buying a gun isn't going to stop them from sucking. Also Pay 2 Win would imply that you can only win by paying, and people who don't pay will never get upgrades/new guns/ect, which is false.

Blacklight Retribution is actually pretty fun. Its better than COD, and it costs 60 bucks less :P.

Tribes, BL, LOL, TF2 are great.

Lol at the jelly console kids angry that free games are better than most of their $60 rehashes on console.

Just downloaded this game a few days ago. Much better than most of the full priced shooters on the market.

The consolites would sure eat it all up when it comes to them nextgen, since all this DLC (Disk Locked Content) started because they are all a bunch of gullible idiots

Tribes 10/10 from Eurogamer. LOTRO is decent. Star Trek MMO is great if you like ST and have friends to play with.

HoN is also free, and awesome. There are good F2P play games, LoL probably being the premiere one. Dota2 coming soon, maybe Firefall.
