[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]In one's opinion* its an examlpe of a game made better because of the wii-mote controller. Just thought i'd clarify.Ontain
sure just like all the scores on this site are just opinions too. ppl still use the score as fact here.
Thats because: It is a fact that the game scored that high regardless if the score is opinion or not. Its also a fact that people believe that it made it better. However, its not a fact that its better.RE4 wasn't made better... the cross-hair looks wobbly and inaccurate.Dahaka-UKnot true. I practically only do head shots, even from far distances. The cursor goes where you want it to, as long as you grasp the rest of the controls (which I thought was kind of a long learning curve)

that can be blamed on two things. either the wiimote pinpointing is affected by extra light or distance/ or the players have a wobbly hand
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Add Trauma Center to the pile.Haziqonfire
i was about to say that too - RE4 as well :P
put TP down there seeing as the wii version is the "best" version. The tags don't lie.

You're looking way too much into this... for some reason...
Not following the many ridiculous consensuses of SW? Good for you. Never the less... in the end... you have to put up with it.

why do we put more importance to the score on a review but not the content?

Which ends in a stalemate. Saying "that's just an opinion" gets nowhere whatsoever.

Sure it does. It keeps baseless assertions from becoming misguided fact.[QUOTE="Shinobishyguy"][QUOTE="Haziqonfire"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Add Trauma Center to the pile.darklord888

read the review and also realize that gs scores aren't cross platform.

Sure it does. It keeps baseless assertions from becoming misguided fact. but dont you think that some opinions are better than others. You say that a game reviewer's opinion is just another opinion but is that right? Didn't they earn qualifications in some way? For instance, if there is something wrong with my stomach, I would much prefer a doctor's opinion to a lumberjack's. So if I want to know what control method is best for a video game, wouldn'tI want to consult a video game expert?[QUOTE="Ontain"]it's a fact that the reviewer says it made the game better. just like it's a fact that he gave a game a score.VandalvideoYes, it is a fact that the reviewers sad it makes the game better. Oh no, not another fact/opinion debate. :(

All opinions are equally as valid.
That's nice, but so far the trade off isn't worth it. The Wii reviews have more complaints about the Wiimore than praise.

I'm actually surprised most of them came from specific company games and ports... Since I actually thought a lot of games that did not belong there, would have some trouble... but it seems that they're doing alright. After all, a lot of companies never really worked with this kind of tech.
Impressive, a puzzle game got 8.5. Even with the new review system, that is neat. I think in order to utilize the Wii's control best, we need more games like Trauma Center, that game used the controls perfectly in my opinion. It is a far from perfect game, but damn is it innovative.
The other idea that really sticks out in my mind is a real Paper Mario game for the Wii, sure Super Paper Mario is a good game (and I have owned and almost beat it now), it just cannot compare to the first two. I think it would be funif it went back to the turn-based battle system, and you did a neat little action with the Wii Remote in order to get that extra bit of damage/defense. Also, a Paper Mario on the DS would be a good thing too.

Yeah, but I've played both versions (I don't own the Cube one though) and the Wii version is far superior.[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]but dont you think that some opinions are better than others. All opinions are equally as valid. i might agree if it were something like preference for the artistic direction or something equivalent, but controls are pretty basic mechanics that have stayed constant over time. There have always been issues with control in games, and they have always been the same. A game with bad controls is one that is unresponsive and unintuitive. Good controls are the opposite. It's a spectrum too, with everything in between. If the wiimote simplifies some things then it deserves credit for that, just like it deserves scorn for the things it does poorly

Those are subjective experience. However, stating that, "This controller is more accuracy" is totally valid. Thats a fact.

not on this forums. the opinions of the reviewer are worth more otherwise my score is just as good as theirs.

And in reality/society thats how it works. System Wars just has funny nonsensical rules like that. However, I wouldn't say a poorly written "OMG THIS GAME IS TEH BOMB" is as amicable as a well written two page review.[QUOTE="Ontain"]In reality, no opinion holds precedence over another. Just because more people agree with a certain view point, does not by any stretch of the imagination make the opposing viewpoint less valid. Its still just as valid.

Care to list all the thousand Wii games that are made worse because of the Wiimote? I'll wait. :)
Are you sure you want that  ? Sure it might be a myth... But what if the list if quite big :P ? *Looks at horrible ports*

i was talking about worth. and as i said some ppl's opinions are worth more than others. it doesn't make joe schome's opinion invalid for himself. but the other persons opinion is worth more.

That doesn't change the fact that the Wiimote should continue to be commercially sold, especially next gen for other consoles through a different name/design, also, there's no reason why it can't be accompianied by the gamepad. The Guitar Hero controller works for Guitar Hero games and Rock Band? Does that mean it shouldn't be used? Even if the Wii-mote is only good for so many games, it shouldn't be ditched all together. Please Log In to post.
