Analysis: Its 2020 and is console gaming useless now?

Hello friends,

In past few years I have been noticing that more and more console games or rather exclusive coming to PC. There was time when almost every game was either PC or console exclusive. now every game is multiplat. many of those franchise like MGS, Tekken, Final fantasy that never seen PC release now on PC, then we see sony exclusive from detroit, beyond, horrizon, death stranding on PC and theres rumors that God of war 2018 coming to PC soon. horrizon 2 also see PC release.

on xbox side, Microsoft use to have xbox only exclusive but now Gears/Halo/Forza all on PC, defeat the purpose of Xbox. I feel like even Halo play better on PC than on xbox let alone any other shooters.

Xbox no longer traditional console now turn into Pre build Gaming PC for people who want to sit on sofa and use controller ie plug and play PC.

Both from sony side and microsoft side, all games coming to PC.

then we have third party multiplat that always run better, looks better and play better on PC. there was a time whehn console had third party exclusives like MGS4, RDR1 etc. now RDR2 and MGS5 came to PC. see this.

on console either you can run a game or you cant. on PC if you have low budget, you can run latest game on low, if you have medium, you can run same game on medium and if you have high end PC you can run games on max.

In 2020, PC gaming is bigger than it was before. getting almost all games from both competitor, microsoft and sony.

there are only few sony exclusive and all are third person action games and now slowly they are releasing on PC.

I see that there is no point of gaming on console in this day and age when EVERY single thing reach the PC. every game is multiplat, every game runs better on PC.

so my friends, is console gaming still worth now? lets discuss.

I really don't know if it's worth getting into this again....especially with so many innacuracies and assumptions in your post.

Not for me console gaming will always be the place i play PC will always have better performance and options but consoles are so easy and rarely have hardware issues.

Well I still can't play the heavy hitters on a PC (TLOU2, FF7:RE and GoT) so, no?

I can see how Nintendo and Sony consoles are still significant to some people for actual exclusives. However, IMO the only point in getting an XBOX over other options is if your friends that you normally game with are getting one.

Why doesn't PC have games like FF7, Nioh 2 or TLOU2?

Where are all the PC centric RTS and FPS games?

PC getting Nioh 2 and FF7. last of us 2? its most hated sony game. sure no PC gamer would care about this movie game.

We still have PC centric FPS ala Black Mesa and Eternal. Deathloop and Cyberpunk to come. thats in 2020. but sadly all of them will overlooked by new COD and Halo infinite.

RTS genre killed by MOBA sadly but Age of empire 4 is something to be excited about ie return of AAA RTS game.

We already know TC is close minded when it comes to games so this is just another troll thread.

Nintedo offer childish kiddy games and sony offer movie games that now releasing on PC. i bet nearly all PS5 games will release on PC year later.

What games don't run better on PC? Just curious. I mean I know about 95% of all games do/can run better on PC on average. Most bad PC ports run the same as the console version(that's why it's a bad port), Maybe some very rare extremely bad ports that have run worse on release but even then, most of those get patched and then end up running better than console later. I assume this is what you are getting at? If you disagree with me that's OK, if so we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

@latech84: As always, it depends on the pc and the port if coming from console. I haven't got the energy for a pedantic argument with him, but no....not EVERY game comes to PC. Games CAN look better on some PCs is more accurate than every game looks better on PC, and not all games are multiplats.

Again, not a big deal....and not worth debating from my side really.

PC gaming is not for everyone, but I understand those who think its the best option....i just disagree.

Agree, PC has a lot to offer.

it's just a shame that the battle royale genre has detracted a lot from more PC centric FPS.

And it's a damn shame that the MOBA genre has detracted a ton from RTS on PC.

I demand more RTS and FPS!!!

we are slowly entering better FPS trend.

but now we demand RTS games instead of MOBA that kill RTS.

Its a pretty simple concept that most folks struggle with and I will repeat it in its simplest form. Game where you want to game. Where people choose to game should not be a concern of yours.

The real question OP is why is this your concern?

I think I'm some 30-40 hours in the game now, with no end in sight.

I'm taking my time, exploring the beautiful world, trying to master the combat and doing all the main missions with a good variety of side missions.

why should console exist. because when someone works on pc all day why would someone go home and be on pc all night?

No point for me to own a PS or Xbox. Now less than ever. PC+Nintendo covers everything I need.

Explain. Why would it be better to game on consoles if you work on a PC all day?

i can't wait to play this game. im trying to hold off and play it on the ps5. so hard to do lol. my pro died and im stuck with my original ps4. i want to get my pro fixed but im not sure if i want to spend the money when the ps5 will be out by xmas. I might get it fixed though.

Yeah I flip flopped a lot, wanted to wait for the PS5 to play TLOU 2 and GoT myself too.

Though I'd certainly recommend playing GoT on the Pro, as its 30fps framerate is more than fine, holding out for PS5 may not be a bad idea, once they reveal some more info on how exactly PS4 games will work on PS5.

ghost was designed with a boost clock in mind which will work on the ps5. 30fps is not the reason im waiting 30 fps does not bother me. im a what we call a graphic whore kind of guy and want to be wowed with the graphics. or im i might break down and send my pro in to sony to get it fixed.

i do not want to play this game on my original ps4 that im using now and still playing days gone. can't wait for days gone 2 on the ps5. the hordes are going to be awesome with the ps5 tech.

I'm playing this game on PS4 pro, a 4K HDR tv and the game wows me each and every time I play. It's a step up for graphics. I know other system have PS4 pro beat in terms of performance, but the graphics in TLOU 2 and GoT are out of this world. Especially the colors and HDR in GoT are on a next level.

I know this game is fine at 30fps, all I'm saying is that it would be even better if it were 60fps on PS5. I know Spiderman is doing so.

Newsflash, some people just dont care to game on PC. No matter what people say it is not as straight forward as console gaming. Sony and Nintendo still have exclusives and even if they come to PC it is usually years later.

For me its what do you like to game on. I game on PC still, but i enjoy to sit back on a couch or comfy chaor to game. I understand you can do all this with a PC, but for FPS multiplayer games, you still have to deal wjth an extreme amount of people using aimbots, wallhacks, speedhacks, etc etc.

Also, i play with a mouse and a keyboard, good luck playing effectlively with a mouse and keyboard on a sofa. Sometimes its not worth the hassle.

Consoles on the other hand, turn it on, click the game and your playing. 🤷‍♂️

because im going to go sit behind a desk at home as well to? i like to relax on my couch when i get home plus my console is my hub for my family to watch tv and movies. I still buy movies because like you said im dumb.

and i prefer console for being simple because i'm a dumbass. plus having three kids and one job i can't afford a 2000 dollar rig that = a 400 ps5. i have mortgage to pay, utilities, car payment, karate lessons for all three kids. now my step father passed away and now im taking care of my mom that is in stage 4 cancer. now im paying for her and some of the medical bills.

im lucky i get to play 4 hours a week so why would i pay 2000 for a gaming pc just to play 4 hours a week then have to upgrade in 5 years spending another 1000 on that next gen gpu?

so again is that enough reason without being called a dumbass.

Nope, PC gaming is dying. No one wants to pay up the wazoo for a premade of decent quality or try out the rocket science of building your own

In general, no. A lot of people prefer consoles, simple as that.

Personally, yeah it's getting there. Still buy them for the occasional exclusive that interests me. Though I've had stretches over a year where a console would get zero use this gen.

Would like to just go PC + Nintendo, but Sony always manages to snag some 3rd party exclusive that I want.
