iSuppli analyst Pamela Tufegdzic believes that 2008 is shaping up to be PlayStation 3's turn in the spotlight. She believes 2008 will be a turning year for the PS3 with a better lineup of games on the way likely to boost console sales. She also said that they "anticipate Sony will have another price slash on the PS3 this year, and come Christmas, consumers who originally bought the Wii will likely purchase the PS3."

With a 360 price drop to 200$-249$ for the core, and the VAST selection of titles for 360, including Gears 2 this year, there is no doubt Wii owners would buy a 360, not a 350$ PS3, if PS3 gets a price drop that is, which is BS for now

I expect every console to drop prices by the end of 2008... even Nintendo may drop the price of the Wii to a more reasonable $200.

it won't wipe out but it will be present. i don't know many people who are looking forward to purchasing a 360 over ps3 anymore. and a wii is a wii. if you want more complex games, you'll look to upgrade to ps3 or 360

Agreed!! Analyst have been wrong before; and often. People have to remember that analyst are only giving you their opinion. No different then anyone else on this forum just giving you their opinion. Take it with a grain of salt and move on.

Once again we see another analyst that apparently thinks MS is incapable of improving the 360 over the remainder of 2008. Whether that speaks to my lack of insider knowledge or the fact analysts are total ass clowns is debatable, but the fact is MS is going to improve the 360 platform through price cuts, bundles, firmware updates and likely a BR-player accessory, not to mention the revolution that could (emphasis on the could) be started by XNA. In my opinion anyone who claims Sony is ahead of MS (or vice versa) in 2008 is out of their damn mind, and I'd like to take a look at their bank account statements. Both platforms have their pros and cons in regards to features and pricing, and both platforms have questionable game lineups; MS because of fairly risky projects like Fable and Too Human, and Sony because the majority of their killer apps could easily slip into 2009.PBSnipes

I see your point, but the analyst also makes a good argument. I don't think MGS4 will have a monster effect on PS3 sales, but I do see the MGS4 release as the turning point for Sony. I guess GT5 won't make it 2008, and I wouldn't bet on FF13. LittleBigPlanet could be huge, as well as Resistance 2 or KZ2.

I think with the PS3 having all the popular multi-plats, as well as gaining it's own recognizable exclusive along with the winning blu-ray format, alot of family's will want a PS3 in their house to go with the HD-TV they bought last Christmas =).

They'll go where there is the most quality games and that would be the 360. Surprising the Wii has a lot of games coming out in 2008. The problem is most of the games are kiddie crap. There is only like 3-4 Nintendo developed titles coming out for the Wii this year and that includes WiiFit.

The majority of people who do buy a PS3 for it's games will buy it for MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and GT5 Prologue. Those are the only major PS3 titles gamers care about right now. Most of the multiplat titles will get purchased on the 360.

Wrong the core or Acrade is useless. The premium going to 200- 249 would kill the PS3 easily. Arcade is 15 % of saild compared to the 75 % Premium and 10 % elite.
