[QUOTE="wiialltheway"][QUOTE="krp008"] [QUOTE="soccer_forever"]500 000 000 units sold worldwide in a week says hikrp008
500,000 you mean. And thats not a lot worldwide... Halo 3 sold what? 3 or so million copies in its first day.
500k was first week in the US, Nintendo claimed it's the fastest selling Mario title ever.
Halo 3 sold around 3 million first day worldwide, which is true, but that only means sales dropped by a lot after 1st day.In comparison, although SMG sold a lot less onfirst day,sales didn't take a dive after the 1st day like Halo 3 did. I will go as far as to say SMG's 2nd month will outperform Halo 3's 2nd month by quitea bit.
The fact that this analyst put so much emphasis on first week sales makes him sound a little misinformed. Looking at any Mario game, it always took some time for any Mario game to sell millions, why suddenly expecting SMG to sell millionsduring first week like Halo?
It doesnt matter WHEN you sell a number of products, As long as its SOLD... And showing the world that you've made the most popular game in history is a lot better than a selling a few hundred thousand games a month
If what you say is true, that people will continue to buy SMG for "years", why didnt they buy it sooner?
Yes, apparently, Halo 3 sold millions in first day, but sales drastically went down after that, that's the point I was making. Halo sold great, ESPECIALLY during the first day, I was trying to point out that SMG had and will have a different sales pattern, not saying which is better, because end result counts the most.
The reason why SMG is different from Halo 3 is because they have different audience and different groups of follower. Halo 3 has a big group of followers that will go wait in line to get this game on fist day, Mario games never had that, is it SMG or anybody's fault that it didn't sell millions first day when it reallywasn't meant to be or never known for that?
Realistically, we will be looking at close to 4 million SMG sold by the end of the year, it won't even be 2 months by then. Right now, after about 2 months and a week or so, Halo 3 have sold more or less, around 6 million (?). When you look past the first day or first week, I don't think their difference is that big, whether SMG will catch up to Halo 3's lifetime sales and possibly surpass it will depend on how they conintue to sell next year.
