[QUOTE="hoosier7"]

[QUOTE="shawn30"] Xbox had better specs than PS2 - PS3 had better specs than Xbox 360 - specs - Crysis looks incredible when maxed out on a monster PC - but most feel the game is average at best. Developers make great games not specs. So Im interested in what the devs show me and not numbers on a flow chart. I can't play those numbers.shawn30

Errrrr, where did i say otherwise? :| What's with all the lems going full damage control on me?

No damage control. Just talking points. I cant save MS any more than I can down Sony, not that I care enough. Just my point of view thus far on things. Games are made by devs. Specs are nice, but don't mean much at the end of the day. If they did Crysis would be a 10 million seller, lol.

Great but the PS4 has pretty much all the same devs with multiplats. With the exclusive devs they arguably have the best. MS devs are still yet to create a blockbuster new IP. I mean Rare aren't what they used to be, 343 are riding on the back of Halo, Epic Games are going stale with the Gears franchise and Bungie jumped ship. They've got Crytek working on an exclusive but as you pointed out even the Crysis with the best gameplay was mediocre and they haven't innovated since.

Sony have the likes of ND, Media Molecule, Rockstar and Squeenix working on exclusives.

Hardcore gamers made Xbox what it is today and MS is sh!tting all over themMystery_Writer

Indeed. I have bought 2 360s (first one broke, not rrod). Countless games. I sold my 360 about 1,5 year ago, because microsoft has been screwing me. And xbone looks like horsesh*t compared to ps4. At E3 I will see if microsoft values casual kinect crowd more than people who want games like gow, uncharted, skyrim, the witcher etc = core games - exclusive ones.

It's all about the games. The hardware is pretty close. XBox One will DirectX 11, so lets see what they can do with that. Just give me some exclusive games with great game play and decent graphics.

The hardware being "Pretty Close" in one way of describing this situation.  Most would opt for "Not very close" however.

This hardware reveal did little to entice me to buy the Xbox One. To be honest, I have little interest in the TV features, Make no mistake they are cool. I will however, reserve judgment on the games that they will show at E3. I'm not to happy about the used game situation though. That may kill my potential purchase of the system. I will be getting a PS4, but Microsoft has to wow me to buy their offering. Again just waiting to see what is shown at E3.

Playstation 4 is clearly more powerful, this time around! Is there any confirmation of how many of those PS4's 8GB GDDR5 are dedicated to games?

Juicy bits: "Heres where things start to get a bit controversial. Sony opted for an 18 Compute Unit GCN configuration, totaling 1152 shader processors/cores/ALUs. Microsoft went for a far smaller configuration: 768 (12 CUs). Microsoft cant make up the difference in clock speed alone (AMDs GCN seems to top out around 1GHz on 28nm), and based on current leaks it looks like both MS and Sony are running their GPUs at the same 800MHz clock. The result is a 33% reductionin compute power, from 1.84 TFLOPs in the PS4 to 1.23 TFLOPs in the Xbox One."

"theres no escaping the fact that Microsoft has given the Xbox One less GPU hardware than Sony gave the PlayStation 4."

well yeah they blew it there, lets see what are they able to do with the ''cloud compute'' they repeat several times, but you will see the biggest differences when it comes to exclusives,in multiplatform games no that much and the only differences i can see one having 2xAA and the other having 0 AA or instead of running at 1080P it will a bit more lower resolution.. the next xbox is not weaker by any means..its not like PS3,Xbox 360 vs Wii differences, But i believe someone that wants great graphics and performance will pick a powerful PC for that.

So is not about superior mutiplatforms any more.? Say you is pretty close it has 50% more juice, while having faster bandwidth with double the ROP's,that without counting that the Xbox one would probably eat more resources for OS to.. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/536?vs=549 The difference is probably a little higher than this ^^.. Oh and since when DirectX is and advantage.? Last time i check it was one of the API actually hurting PC,not to mention that any features directX has the PS4 support it as well and by sony's own words the GPU has features beyond those found on DirectX 11.1..

Put no faith in cloud computing. Its actual potential usefulness is probably close to nothing, and using it would entail a literal always-online requirement.

Sony built the best console ever, in terms of its efficiency, power, and overall design. It has such a huge power advantage over the Xbox One that it will absolutely dominate in terms of exclusives and multiplats.

It made my decision pretty easy. I am going to go with the PS4 as my main platform next generation. I was considering upgrading my PC and just playing exclusives on the PS4, but it's now become clear that the PS4 is going to do extremely well with multiplats and the graphical advantage of playing on PC isn't worth it to me personally when weighed against other considerations. I'll still keep my current PC to play the occasional PC exclusive or multiplat that doesn't come to PS4, but the PS4 will get 90% of my time.

[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="shawn30"] I agree with you, only when I buy my Xbox One I'm gonna have 85% of the games you do and 15 you won't have. So for me Xbox One as a gaming console is rock solid, and it offers other stuff Im interested in as well. But games for me are number 1 and MS has done a great job garnering support and exclusives and even 8 new IP's this time. Plus Halo and Gears next gen are coming. Both the PS4 and Xbox One will be great gaming consoles IMHO.StrongBlackVine

exactly. it can play games and more. that's whats needed in this day and age. the options alone will be worth the money, not to mention the 30-40 games and 15 exclusives it will have by january. all sony did was put themselves in a corner because u'r competing against the ipad and smartphones too, not just ms and nintendo

Are you an idiot? Xbox One will not have 15 exclusives by January 2014. Within the year doesn't mean what you thought.

not january 14, by january of 15. i could have worded it better. the point is that the x1 is a gaming console that gives u other options. its that simple. u will never have to turn it off basically.

So the PS4 is slighty more powerful

EPaul

Uh, 50% more GPU performance, massive memory bandwidth advantage, more flexible memory architecture, likely much smaller OS footprint (i.e. more usable RAM), and potentially more CPU performance does not add up to only "slightly more powerful". The power difference is huge. I don't think we have ever seen such a big difference between competing consoles, except for possibly the Xbox to PS2 performance gap.

Its certainly not a "huge issue". its not like game development is going to be crippled by the latency difference between DDR3 and GDDR5.

Ok, now you are putting words in my mouth. Im just trying to add balance to the conversation. Latency is probably a bigger issue in software development than speed. I see everyone talking about the difference in speed, but not the latency differences. Just trying to spur discussion....

You are forgetting the edram can push the memory bandwidth higher. Also Cloud Computing it going to push the Xbox One a lot higher in TFLOPS.

It's pretty silly that the X-Blows gpu is 33% weaker than the ps4's reported one.

I'm not expecting too big of a gap in early multiplats, but the games later on might definitely have some differences, Sony's machine is all around more powerful with none of the weird cell architecture.

First it's not 50% more GPU performance. second the Edram gives the Xbox One a massive memory bandwidth boast so its not as wide as you think its going to be. Sure the PS4 OS is going to use less ram but I think it's going to need as least 1gb min for all the features to run smoothly.

It's interesting that the article never says that the PS4 will be clearly more powerful as the numbers seem to indicate. This is very complex it seems and has a lot to do with how different things balance. As always, I'll wait and see :).

I quite frankly just can't see how this will work. It may replace, but I don't see how it'll enhance. Graphics calculations require back and forth between components millions of times a second. Good luck doing that through the internet.

Pure PR Crap. Cloud Computing can never, ever, ever help with rendering. Far too slow. Maybe offload some gameplay calculations, MAYBE, but thats it.

The Wii U has 600 GF-650s. The Xbox one has 1.2 TF. The PS4 has 1.8 TF. This is just the gpu.

The Wii U has 1 gb DDR3, the xbox one has 5 gb DDR3, PS4 has 7 gb GDDR5 which runs at 2.8X the speed.

The Wii U has 8 rops, the Xbox one has 16 ROPS, and the PS4 has 32 ROPS

The Wii U CPU is significantly weaker than Xbox one and PS4. Should be noted

The ps4 is about as much more powerful than xbox one is to wii u. People telling you that you can't tell the difference between xbox one and ps4. Well you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between Wii-U and Xbox one going by that logic...

From your own link... "In a long interview today Marc Whitten of Microsoft confirmed how much of the Xbox Ones 8GB RAM will be taken up by the OS and games. He did this indirectly by not denying past rumors of the RAM being broken down this way. He was directly asked if 3GB RAM was used for the OS and he shyed away from answering, hinting that it may be true. It has been rumored for months now that the OS for the new Xbox would use 3GB RAM and Whitten confirmed in this interview that it will require around 3GB. So it could be a bit more, could be a little bit less. This leaves about 5GB RAM for game developers. " So it hasnt been confirmed.

You are forgetting the edram can push the memory bandwidth higher. Also Cloud Computing it going to push the Xbox One a lot higher in TFLOPS.

Cloud computing doesn't seem like it will fill a hardware gap.

[QUOTE="navyguy21"][QUOTE="nhh18"]

The Wii U has 600 GFs. The Xbox one has 1.2 TF. The PS4 has 1.8 TF. This is just the gpu.

The Wii U has 1 gb DDR3, the xbox one has 5 gb DDR3, PS4 has 7 gb GDDR5 which runs at 1.8X the speed.

The Wii U has 8 rops, the Xbox one has 16 ROPS, and the PS4 has 32 ROPS

The Wii U CPU is significantly weaker than Xbox one and PS4. Should be noted

The ps4 is about as much more powerful than xbox one is to wii u

*smh*

I said to myself there's no way that the X1's OS footprint is a whopping 3 GGB.  I figured 1.5 GGB tops.  Now with it all but confirmed by a MS executive.............

I am truly disgusted.  I was semi-curious about the 8 new IP's, now I couldn't give a shit.

It won't. If it could then it would have been done already like on PC or something. I can't see it helping at all
