I would say PC but I just remember all the glorious memories I've had playing the......
my order would be:
1)PC
2)Ps2
3)snes
Even if you restricted pc libray to that of only last gen dreamcast November 27, 1998 to the 360 launch in November 16, 2005 pc still wins as pc was incredibly strong during those years (infact gaming was better overall during that time compared to this gen) so when taking into account the entire pc library its no contest really.
1. Sega Genesis/ Super Nintendo.... Yeah thats right its a TIE, The two god systems imo are just as good because they are so different and so amazing in their own rights.
2. NES
3. PS2
4. PSone
5. and its a toss up between the Atari 2600 and the Xbox 360 for this one
PC
SNES woulda been my #1 pick but... Quakelive and everything else tilted me over to Pc (you know music, Gamespot)
PC for sure, although it is at times not as convenient and as stable as consoles such as Xbox and PS3, you cannot beat the mods that you can find for free for your favorite games. I know that playing Fallout 3 for the 4th time was like playing it for the first with all the mods I put on it. But besides that, if you are proficient with computers and have the money to do so, you will never find better graphics on anything other than the PC. And my last point would also have to be how FPSs are better with a keyboard and mouse in hand, and RTSs not near as good without a mouse to use.
#2 NES
#3 PS3
#4 Dreamcast
#5 Genesis
1- PC- So much of gamings innovation comes from this platform. It's a gamers paradise in some cases. A gateway to soo many indie games, tons of interface options, mods, free online, advancement in tech, and let's not forget the legacy in games with Fallout, thief, half life, etc. It's mainstream blockbuster offerings aren't there anymore, but it's found a new crowd. A new niche. The Quakes, the Unreals, the Half Lifes, have been replaced with The Stalkers, the Cryostasis, the Witcher, The sins of a solar, etc
2- Playstation 2- Visually while the games maybe showing their age, they still hold up enough to be entertaining. Gameplay wise, design wise this platform is filled with so many influential and cIassic experiences. Resident Evil 4 is on it. GTA SA is on it. Shadow of the Colossus is on it. Okami is on it. God of War 2, Persona 3, etc.
3- Super Nintendo- the only other platform I want to list. Why because while the N64/PS1 era has console games that straight up don't live upto standards. The SNES because its's a 2-D platform still holds up nicely. Super Metroid is still awesome, A Link to the Past is still awesome, Super Mario World/ Yoshi's Island is still awesome, Final Fantasy VI is still awesome, etc. Remember just because I say that so many games of old age poorly and are forgiven by people wearing nostalgia glasses. The 2-D era with the SNES still holds up in ways the N64, the saturn, PS1 never willl. The PS2 could very well end up being replaced with a console from this gen, but that will never change how much the SNES still holds up.
I don't have a favorite system, i only have favorite games....that said, most of them are on the PS1 so I'd have to go with that.
Actually i loved all the systems i owned since i started gaming.. and its quite a long list :)
ZX Spectrum, Atari, NES, Amiga 500, Sega MegaDrive, Game Gear, Gameboy Advance, PC, PS1,Dreamcast,PS2 & current ones which are PS3,360 & PSP...
when i remember all the fun i had gaming on all these systems its really hard to choose 1 :)
Since this gen seems to have another 2 - 3 years left in it; I'm gonna say 360 fo sho.
Now the DC never reached critical mass but in my eyes it will always be a favorite and who could forget the Genny SNES days as well.
Of course overall PC wins but it's multi gen so it can't lose. :P
