Animal Crossing: New Leaf sold over 500,000 copies when it launched in North America last month, but Nintendo have provided updated sales figures for the game in their latest financial report. As of June 30th, Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold 1.19 million copies outside Japan, and a total of 5.4 million copies worldwide. This counts both retail and digital sales.

nice. The game is really addicting.

It deserves the sales. It's one of the most improved sequels out there. They fixed everything that was wrong and added a crapload of new features and content.

It's because Nintendo underestimated the man power needed for HD development.

It's not my type of game though.

Funny, because they had seven years to sit back and notice the HD development struggles of the rest of the industry and to prepare accordingly.

Wonderful, that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo seem to be losing their edge. Their quality is undeniable, where's the spark that used to define the so called Nintendo difference? The only games I see it in is Wonderful 101 and X, none of those two are from their in house teams.

Never really found the appeal in this game. My girlfriend loves them but I always look and say, "Meh." (granted I feel the same about Sims, SimCity, Farmville, and pretty much any other social game out there)

Still, that's really great for Nintendo! Very impressive how a 3DS exclusive like this sells over 5 mirrion copies. Wow.

When did I change my opinion this time? Let me paraphrase in case there is any mistake: a) The Wii U has been handled like shit. I have never once stated otherwise b) The Wii U has a great upcoming lineup of exclusive games c) The exclusive games, while great, look undeniably safe, and yes, iterative of Wii and 3DS games d) The creative spark that defined Nintendo was last seen in, let me be clear, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Three years ago. e) Their handheld games are fine, and are not included in this discussion Now this is all stuff I have been saying since January. Where have I changed my opinion, abruptly or otherwise, and how in the world is all of that exclusive of each other?

[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]Charizard changing his opinions (suddenly) on Nintendo again. Why am I not surprised?charizard1605
When did I change my opinion this time? Let me paraphrase in case there is any mistake:

a) The Wii U has been handled like shit. I have never once stated otherwise

b) The Wii U has a great upcoming lineup of exclusive games

c) The exclusive games, while great, look undeniably safe, and yes, iterative of Wii and 3DS games

d) The creative spark that defined Nintendo was last seen in, let me be clear, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Three years ago.

e) Their handheld games are fine, and are not included in this discussion

Now thics is all stuff I have been saying since January. Where have I changed my opinion, abruptly or otherwise, and how in the world is all of that exclusive of each other?

a) True that, but even if it does lose the race, who's to say it won't build up in some way? It may not be like this forever even if the shipment numbers from last quarter were awful.

b) Says the man who refers to DKCR: Tropical Freeze as a rehash, but thinks Metroid should be a top priority, nevermind Retro having already done THREE games that two of which could be argued as a rehash

c and d) Ironic how, again, you criticize DKCR and SM3DW for playing it safe and calling them a rehash, and yet, YOU'RE whiteknighting SMG2, which again ALSO can be argued as such. As great a game as it is, it still played and looked the same as SMG1 (to the point that Miyamoto admitted that all it was is just lost ideas they didn't fit in), other than the fact that it had different power ups, new levels and Yoshi. By that logic, this is the real Starcraft II, not this.

e) If their handheld games are "fine" explain to me why EVEN POKEMON gets this sort of criticism?

i bet at least 1/3 of it came from word of mouth. everyone i know (me included) bought it from word of mouth. people would buy it because their friends bought it and their friends bought it because their friends' friends bought it and so on. it's like a virus of cutesy animals.

e) If their handheld games are "fine" explain to me why EVEN POKEMON gets this sort of criticism?

a) Good? I never said it would be like this forever. I specifically criticize them for how they have handled the Wii U this far.

b), c), and d) I don't know, I think you are laboring under the misconception that I am calling Donkey Kong or Mario 3D World rehashes, or that I think they are safe because they are franchise games. Let me establish this (again) as clearly as I can (again): I have two f*cks to give that Mario 3D World is the 89th Mario Game, or that Tropical Freeze is the 163rd Donkey Kong game. I sincerely could not care less. I'm not one of System Wars' 'NEW IP!!!1!' brigade. I care about what the game brings to the table. Tropical Freeze and 3D World bring nothing to the table that I don't already have. One is an iterative Wii game, the other is an iterative 3DS game. Again, do I deny the games will be great? No, in fact I specifically and explicitly outline as much every time I mention those games, including in the post you originally quoted.

Which is, incidentally, why I don't seem to care about Retro doing a new Metroid or EAD doing Galaxy 2. Because every Metroid Prime game brought something new to the table. Galaxy 2 brought something new to the table. You know what isn't bringing anything new to the table? The Wii U lineup from Nintendo except for W101 and X.

e) It doesn't? Not from me? When have I ever criticized Pokemon?

So, um, I don't know what it was that you were trying to say man, but looks like you called me out for nothing :?

they made a sequel-remake to shadow dragon, but it didn't leave japan. but yeah, that would've been pretty sad, to say the least.

It's still the highest selling game in the franchise :P More importantly, it lines up directly with the overall 1:3 software attach ratio of the 3DS pretty well.

I would have never guessed Animal Crossing was that popular.

I was never too interested in the original series release, and since then I've only known maybe two people who played any Animal Crossing games, and I know quite a few Nintendo fans.

it looks boring, until you actually start playing. then it will still look boring, but you for whatever gypsy curse that comes bundled with the game can't stop playing it and having fun.

You and me both know Nintendo is doing this. It's just taking too dang long.

They are? Could have fooled me, all I see is hastily updated versions of old Wii and 3DS games. And Mario Kart 8 and X.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Mario Kart, X, Bayonetta 2.

Plus as underwhelming as Super Mario 3D World is there is no god damn way one could belittle that game for being mroe 3D Land, and not mock the shit out of so many 3DS outings from Nintendo: Specifically in this case mother f*cking Animal Crossing. From August forward the WiiU is at least looking semi competent with one solid looking game after another a month. Question what are their drought fillers.

So, um, I don't know what it was that you were trying to say man, but looks like you called me out for nothing :?

a) In a few places, you're acting no better than the other NintenDOOMERS, so it sure felt like it.

b, c and d) Not what you've been saying over E3 raging like the average comedic internet review.

It doesn't matter what a game can bring "new to the table" so long as the IP remains old or running for a while. Last I checked, Guitar Hero brought something new to the table (for that series standards) and yet, post GH II, maybe GH III (which is perhaps my favorite due to the soundtrack, but I digress), it got called a rehash. Heck, Metal Gear, a series fans proclaim DID something new each game, can be regarded as a rehash for the name alone.

(And FYI, I personally don't care if it rehashes in name either as long as it's good. I'm just pointing out that the criticisms for that very reason exists)

e) Maybe not from you, but in other places, it's regarded as such. Goes to show that the 3DS, even of selling better, isn't safe from similar comments.

Man, I wish I could get into Animal Crossing. It seems like the kind of game I would love, but it just ends up boring me to tears every time I play. :(
