Gamers who pre-order Army of Two: The 40th Day now will have exclusive access to the game's all-new explosive multi-player mode, Extraction, at launch. This mode will be unlocked for all other players one month after the game ships.

Army of Two may have delivered on co-op, but when it came to an online experience many players were left wishing for more. As a result the multiplayer component of Army of Two: The 40th Day has been completely reworked. We want to give fans unparalleled online functionality and a unique experience that can only come with a co-op game.

Source.

This is getting worse and worse.

This kind of thing has been going on for a long, long time. It's amazing to me that people think these marketing practices are a new thing. I suggest all of you listen to the George Carlin piece entitled "Advertising Lullaby."

This is a problem with the DL Gen.

That's terrible. Why would anyone buy that game anyway though, after playing the first.

Hope that this does not happen to all games.

Pre-Order Bonuses, such as the Golden Lancer in GeoW2 and Sergeant Johnson character in Halo 3 :ODST are okay, but this??

Is EA going the same way as Activision, being overly harsh and stupid??

Meh, what I blame the HD gen for is developers feeling the need to go HD when the systems can't handle decent graphics with that res so much, which in turn limits what they can actually do in the game. HD, much like things like Blu-Ray, shouldn't come until next gen when systems are better equipped to handle it. Now, don't get me wrong - optional HD is fine. If I'm not mistaken, a few games last gen had HD output. But it being the norm? Nah... Done more to hinder gaming moving forward than help it.

Why not? I blame this on the hordes of players paying for features that used to be free. Enjoy being milked more and more :(

A lot of games aren't HD anyway. It's a choice made by the developer. And the games that are HD usually have no problem handling it.

That's just because gaming is expanding. You have to accept that everything changes all the time.

Fortunately for you, you can choose what to accept into your house. Unfortunately for you, you cannot choose what is and what is not "reality".

Good Path: Expand Remedey audience by making a 360 version of Alan Wake.

Crappy Path: Nerf the game design because the 360 can't handle the original concept.

Extremely Crappy path: Can the PC version altogether in a vain crusade to force PC gamers to buy a 360 because they refused to pay for a crappy P2P online service.

And we all know which way we are taking :(

Because that's the most accurate name to that generation. The Wii and DS are different generations.

The first Army of Two game....was one of the worst co-op games I've ever played. And I've played a lot, co-op play is one of the top features I look for in games.

Hm... I've had a PS3 for a little over a year now. Haven't paid anything extra for it since I got it and game online for free. Generally avoid DLC unless the game really interests me. I don't see anything wrong with the HD generation...

Simply PRE-ORDER if you want the multiplayer at launch. Problem solved.

It is a dumb move though, I'm not interested in this game anyway.
