thank you for not only giving feedback but actually being intelligent about it. but i will have to disagree with you on a few things.no problem, its fun to argue! :) I can agree with just a few points btw...
1. this is a fair assessment even if it does favor the 360. flat out, do you have everything you need to play games on these systems right out of the box? yes - and that's what consumers want to know. the 360 can play DVDs, PS3 does blu-ray - and those are nice added features, but we are talking about a gaming machine more than anything, no? you can disagree with me if you like - but the point is at christmas time when these systems sell like crazy, the consumer is looking at the price tag first and foremost and a $599.99 price tag is a turn off, and that's no ones fault but sony's.
2. there's nothing to argue with here. yes, i know about little big planet. the only thing i'd suggest is if sony wanted to make the PS3 a competeting onlilne gaming machine against the 360 than the PSN needs to improve very fast. bigger userbase or no, you can give microsoft the credit in this field - simply because they know what they're doing with xbox live. sony still seems to be learning the ropes.
3. good response - and i will admit i'm biased about home. i'm 26 - which puts me at the typical age for someone who would be out playing on a PS3.  i'm not saying people won't give it a shot, and i'm not saying there are people out there that will love it. just show me who these people are - because to me this would be a perfect idea for, say, the nintendo wii since it has such a wide user age difference and you'll find people on there that are more willing to spend the little "hidden fees" to build their creations as you put it. home is free for those who want to play a game online and talk - it costs to do the extra stuff, and those are the things that seperate it from XBL. you compare XBL gold membership to your basic home user who doesn't pay for any of the extra features and i ask again, what's the point?
4. i'm still going to completely disagree with you on GoW 3. when pictures and videos start showing up involving it, then i'll understand someones excitement for it and put it on their "list". fact is, it's years away and they could do anything that want to it, making it the grand sequel that continues the series dominance on the PS, or take it in a different direction a la FFXII that has a lot of fans upset about the changes. point being, we don't know anything about it whatsoever yet so why bother listing it on as a game to justify you purchasing a system when you know nothing about it? do you see 360 fanboys making their list of games to justify their purchase and putting halo 4 on there? we know it's going to happen, but why bother?
5. nothing to really post here either as we are both speaking through speculation. Â
6. again, this is speculation and we both know blu-ray will take it's time to escalate as the defining form that we may watch our movies on. however, the PS3 is benefiting from it now - but keep in mind RIGHT NOW samsung has a blu-ray player that's $500 (check best buy's website) and i thought i heard toshiba does to but i'm not cetain. blu-ray players will likely drop well below that price range come christmas time while it's still very questionable if the PS3's price will drop by then. it might not be long before walmart carries the crappy ones that consumers will eat up for $300 - and if that's the case before christmas and the PS3's price doesn't drop then it's not as benefitial as you might think. again tho, speculation.
once again, thanks for the response.phantas777
1. alright, so I guess microsoft will end up tricking more people this holiday season, since people only look at the price tag, right? People will buy a core system and then find out there's no harddrive (which is expected at this point), although I suppose the fact that xbl is $48 a year (i think), is really smart way to spread out cost. I still feel that you cant just compare price tags when both companies are pricing so differently.
4. Halo 4 is not the same, as halo 3 ends a trilogy. Other than that, yes, there will probably be some kind of halo afterwards. We just dont know enough to be able to talk about what it would be like. the enemies, maybe even the allies, could be completely different. GoW3 will be a ramped up version of the previous 2 if sony values $$$. Also, I think that people who bought the 360 at launch were hyping halo3, and that was more than a year and a half ago, more than 2 years before the release.
5. blurray will flex its muscle late in the gen, and it will be noticeable come 2008
6. all your args could be turned against the ps2. Ps2 prevailed, dvd player had a factor because people won't mind paying extra for the extra video game playing ability. PS2=$150. DVDplayer=$50
[QUOTE="thirstychainsaw"]Answer: What does that have to do with anything? Microsoft will still have Halo, Fable etc. etc. Kane04
my point is: They have that last-gen and they lost, now they are saying they'll win cuz they have that...
i haven't played Gears yet, but i have Halo 2 and it is extremely overrated, so i guess Gears is no diferent...
YOU GUESSS? YOU GUESS? THis blows your whole argument! LMAO you lose! And So you know. Gears is awesome.
GTA4 and PES7(already 19.2GB with no sound files)are compromised because no standard HDD and DVD 10GB(limit of X360 games on a DL DVD) on the X360.
Kane04
by the way, more than 4 million of the total X360 sold are CORE version, no HDD, so don't even try saying that almost no one has no HDD.
Comments you can always count on from a PS3 fanboy...
1. "But the PS3 is cheaper than the 360 when you add up..." - No. When anyone walks into a store they see $599.99 compared to $399.99. That's what they see, and rarely will someone actually buy the wifi adapter, HD-DVD, etc. that you guys always list because they are nothing more than options. You can keep this up all you want, but you always look like fools. If they aren't required, then not everyone is going to get them, which throws this argument entirely out of the door. And come on, the PS3 only comes with RCA cables for crying out loud.
2. "But PSN is free where you got to spend all this money on XBL. After four years, it's 200 dollars!" And they always blow that way out of proportion don't they? Like if you decide you want XBL, you have to pay $200 all upfront before it will even work. It's so stupid, XBL is a little over $4 a month, pure and simple. And you can cancel your subscription if you need to, you're not obligated to anything like the four years Sony fanboys always throw out there. Thing is, Sony has no idea what to do with PSN and you know it. Compared to XBL it flat out stinks and I'll happily pay $4 a month if it means I don't have to deal with something as crappy as PSN.
3. "But soon we'll have Home and it'll be better than XBL!" Yeah... Home... ownage indeed! I mean, who would of thought? You got an older userbase because you're so set on trying to be this big high def dominator and you think these users are going to go crazy over a Sims-****online system?? Any of you guys really going to go virtual dates to the online movie theatre or go to onlilne parties at someones virtual mansion by the lake to jam to music they pick out when in reality you're sitting on your couch alone? "I'm not going to pay for any of it, just going to use it to play games!" My point exactly, it's completely unnecessary and doesn't fit the usebase at all.
4. "The PS3 is going to have all these games soon (post list here)." Again with the "soon" - as in not now. Like you spent all this money on a system to... wait. And you're still waiting. And why do always post EVERY SINGLE EXCLUSIVE announced? You know half those games, such as half the games out on the system now, will suck hardcore? Do you see 360 users saying, "yeah but with the 360 you have all these games..." and list Bomberman Act Zero? Keep it real, I know you'll have some games to look forward to - but not every single one you always list, since all you're doing it just trying to make the biggest list possible and it always shows. BTW, I love it when you throw in God of War 3, like it's going to be out in the next year or something - 2010 at the earliest. But who am I kidding, that's "soon" like everything else.
5. "But the PS3 is the more powerful system." Be it as it may, can you still show me any game that looks better on the PS3 than the 360? Oblivion was released a year later on it, and I see people even debating that one. Fact of the matter is, the PS3 appears to be a tough system to make games for - either that or it really isn't as powerful. And I know, this is where you tell me about the new developer that will come out soon that will change all of that. Once again, with something that you really have no clue about, and are just saying that it will change it all because Sony tells you it will. Once again, with the "soon."
6. "But the PS3 has Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray will dominate." Dominate what? HD-DVD? Yeah, I agree. But DVD? Maybe in 8 years from now - but HDTV will have to completely take over before that even happens, and there still will be people that are perfectly fine with how DVD looks and don't want to buy a Blu-Ray player or a PS3 right after dropping a grand on a HDTV. And who's saying there won't be something better on the market by then? And in 8 years, I promise you the PS3 will start looking pretty outdated and you'll want something new.
Anything else you want to say to prove me wrong?phantas777
So much logic in one post may send this whole forum into a tail spin
Electricity?
Looked up at the PS3 power rating. It's 3.2A at 120V. That's 384W. That's a lot, right?
The 360 power supply brick is 5A at 120V. That's 600W. add the HD DVD (it has its own power brick) and the quick charge...HOUSE?
X360 + its power brick alone is bigger than the PS3, and the X360 still have ALOT of other stuff... not to mention extrely noisy..Kane04
Thats a ridiculous comment. 600W isn't alot and 384W is nothing. My PC can run circles around both of them if you count raw power and my PC uses 900W, which isn't a terrible amount. So what someone has there 360 on for a few hours, its the equivelent of having 6 powerful lightbulbs on for a few hours. So replace all your lights in your house with energy saving ones and remmember to turn them off when you leave a room and you've made up for more that what you need.
I got a 360 as well as my PC so I'm using 1500W for all the time there both on and I never noticed a large spike in my electricity bills. And ontop of that I can't comment on the PS3s PSU I just guess it works similar but the 360s and my PCs PSUs aren't pulling the full 900 and 600 all the time just what they need with a maximum draw of 900 and 600. I'm not a fanboy to any one console I just get anoyed with people that don't get there facts straight.
[QUOTE="Kane04"]the original Xbox HAD Halo, HAD Fable, HAD XBL, ETC...
Xbox - 24 millions
PlayStation 2 - 121,36 millions (still selling better than anyone)QUESTION: what makes you think this time is going to be diferent?
GTA4 and PES7(already 19,2GB with no sound files)are compromised cuz no standart HDD and DVD 7GB(limit of X360 games on a DL DVD) on the X360
by the way, more than 4 millions of the total X360 sold are CORE version, no HDD, so don't even try saying that almost no one has no HDDQUESTION: this situation is only going to get worst, how do u think MS is going to keep up with SONY specialy when PC games start coming out on blu ray/hd dvd?
i'll be back later today to check the answers...
Dr_Drooom
Sony used to dominate the portable music market with the Walkman, and then Apple came along and slaughtered them with the iPod.
PS3 will not be #1 this gen.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA O,LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL TROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL
worst interpretation ever
Because it isn't 600 smackers, for one. I don't know who is going to win this console war, but at the rate things are going, the 360 has a much greater chance than the PS3.Verge_6
Correction, its $500 now. Only $100 more than 360 with blu-ray, six-axis, larger HDD, and so on.
