Well, this sucks. I was looking forward to the new IGI game.

The parent company is having financial trouble and is scaling back. Antimatter Games is on the chopping block.

P.S. Maybe they felt the game was not woke enough and did not meet diversity and inclusiveness standards. ;) LOL

Sucks for the studio. I guess it didn't go woke so it went broke according to the OP.😉

I hope this isn't a trend. The expectations of games especially on the graphical side has become unsustainable and the price people are willing to pay typically low. We will have to see if this becomes a pattern.

They were probably asked to include some woke elements and the developers were like....

Then the follow up meeting.... So what woke shit have you added?

....

Yup, that is most likely how it went down. LOL

While that sucks for them and I hope they land back on their feet somewhere they don’t really make anything that interests me so it’s not like I’ll miss them or anything.

Always wondered why these smaller dev teams aim for ultra graphical fidelity. I am sure they do their forecasting, 1m-2m sold at most.

@mesome713: exactly…they should have went super woke, pull out all the stops and it would have been a banger and got good funding too.

Black female character, that’s also lgbtq, possibly a transgender person that transition from female to male but is attracted to men, yes. We can continue from there, she would also be partially disabled and gluten intolerant. This is the way to make money these days.

@BassMan: so wait they're just scrapping IGI Origins?

Damn, was looking forward to that.

Original Project IGI might have been one of my first open-world/sandbox games. It was at least one of the earliest examples of a game where the level design focused on huge outdoor maps with detailed indoor environments.

It looks like it unless another publisher comes in to save the day or something. I have fond memories of the Project IGI games too. :)

noooooo

I think they made the Rising Storm expansion for RO2, and Rising Storm 2. both of which are two of my favorite MP tactical FPS games.

this is a huge bummer.

Hopefully Tripwire picks up some of those who get let go and keep some of their projects alive in some shape or form.

Yeah Gollum is not looking good, I saw it had 600 players tops yesterday and the game must've cost millions in marketing alone.

I feel sad for each company: Relic, Daedalic, Antimatter.

Fvcking sad day.

We know Tripwire is working on KF3 and if they have any interest in continuing the RO franchise, I really hope they give some of these people new working spots yeah. Let's hope for the best!

These are my sentiments exactly. I have fond memories of Project I.G.I. and was really looking forward to this.

Meh, not a fan of their games. But sucks for those involved.

Game development is unsustainable, and this needs to be addressed, badly. Overemphasis on presentation is a part of this.

The fact that Tears of the Kingdom sold over 10 million in 3 days, says how little technical graphics truly matter. What matters is that the game looks fine. Nothing more.

Seeing as how the developer was shuttered, it's safe to assume that IGI and '83 are both dead.

We live in a world where DICE can keep making flop after flop, but a great dev like AMG gets the boot. Amazing.

Yup, sums things up pretty well.

I think this, combined with the just absolutely atrocious performance we've been seeing on the more technically impressive games, sort of makes the point (like you said) people don't really care that much about visuals. We just want a fun, solidly-performing experience.

I do love visuals, but only if the game performs good. That is why I invest in high end hardware to make sure that I can enjoy it all. However, this does not always overcome broken and unoptimized games. That is just the developers fucking up or not being given enough time.

Games like Zelda are great because of their design, but the Switch hardware is shit. The game does not look good and runs at 30fps with slowdown. This directly affects my enjoyment of the game. Thankfully, we can play the game on PC, but I would like to see a Zelda game designed around modern hardware. Imagine Zelda with the fidelity of a game like Horizon: Forbidden West. It would be epic.

given its steam player numbers, and the fact it only released on steam (at least to my knowledge), I don't think it did very well.

its coming out on console at the end of this month - can't help but feel they probably should have focused more on the initial PC release and waited longer for the console version, as the PC version was pretty rough at launch and lacks multiplayer content + some other features like MP progression that CoH2 had at launch.

@pc_rocks: didn't you read? The developers went opposite of woke. A game with only straight white males, then they went bankrupt. They should have went more woke.
