[QUOTE="tango90101"][QUOTE="elcoholic"] If ps3 implements ingame chat functions and central friendlist it will already be on par with xbox live features but better cause its free. Remember xbox live makes you pay to host your own games. That's easy (and ps2 already had that) but now they give us dedicated servers on some games so no dependance on a hosts connection (R6, Geow anyone?). And HOME will just be the final nail in the coffin of paying for online gaming (or atleast I hope MS sees it like that). They stick 90% of our cash into their pockets and we all fall for it.
If you ask people what makes live so good they can only bring up the interface cause the actual gaming can be found better on ps3 and pc. And that's what in the end its all about. Infact the ps2 was already on par with the actual gaming part compared to xbox.

Pff, please . I was there from the start. I numbed my thumbes from playing PGR2 and had alot of fun with GRAW, first 2 weeks of GeoW (before it became the shotgun fest) and R6. Now that I have aps3 and see what they can do for free I feel even more screwed than before for paying $50 a year.
I believe you've never played on ps2 online tough. Same p2p concept and it worked. Just a real hassle to set up and get into a game but once you're there it was just as good. And I'm sure you haven't played resistance or you'd know it beats anything live has set up when you're playing.
Anyway, break down my post instead of such a broad but unbased statement. Are you saying p2p is better than dedicated servers?
Ps2 about being in the same par with xbox online capability, so-so. I had lag issues with some games, but that fault can go anyway depending on what game you played. It was a pain in the butt to play games with friends cause you had to use other methods to communicate(and i dont mean communication during gameplay if they want to play, what games, etc). It wasnt that bad if you knew them from real life but i had harder time with ppl that i meet online. I dont remember how socom games did it but i remember not being as annoying as some other games and RE:outbreak they had chat rooms and it was easy to wait/meet ppl there.
I havent really tried the communication systems on the ps3 yet. so i cant say anything about it. From what i hear there are still needs work on it. Only thing i have done on my ps3 that is online function are downloading some games and checking out the web browser(heh was a pain the butt to use without a keyboard)
Cant compare home system with anything on the 360 since 360 doesnt have that, Honestly i dont care bout the home system and it doesnt appeal to me. i rather spend whatever time i have on games rather than trying to socialize in a sim type of world. Of course there are going to be people who will enjoy the home concept. Its good sony is trying to do new and different approach on networking.
