Anyone seen the recent HD submissions for DMC4?

LINKY

Particular emphasis on the Combat Tutorial videos (Part 1 and 2) and the Rainy Day Beatdown Gameplay video.

Just wondering about your own opinions : for those among you who have played the DMC series (at least the 1st or 3rd iteration of the series)...

Is it just me, or are all the gameplay action footages disappointing? I dunno about you guys, but the enemies look more like standing "targets" than actual "baddies"...

In literally almost every single gameplay video, the enemies don't do squat against the player : they put little resistance to your constant assault and seem to generally wander around the arena with little form of aggression...

It's like they completely nerfed the difficulty level of DMC3 (which I LOVED btw, playing it on Default Normal mode in the original US release was apparently the equivalent of playing HARD mode in the japanese release, and I completed the game in Dante Must Die mode...).

That, and whoever is playing the demo footages (looking at GT's recent HD submissions) doesn't know how to combo...

So either they've been demoing the game at "SISSY" difficulty... or this is the new "default" difficulty level, which seems vastly easier than the easiest mode available in all the other DMC series. I loved the DMC series because they provided depth in a game that would have otherwise turnt into a mediocre "hack&slash" genre, particularly due to the painful difficulty level and the combat system's complexity.

Every time i see a DMC4 video j keep telling myself that the video is on easy difficulty, to stop the demoer from dieing in 2 seconds, but its just not working anymore, the only ATTACK i have seen from dmc4 is in the 2 Berial and Dante boss fights, other than that, it looks like the enemies are wondering where are they, and who is the guy trying to beat em up and why, when they SHOULD BE ATTACKING

Well, I dunno about just the shinier graphics. Graphics do look marvelous. About the actual gaming aspect though, the fast-paced action that characterized the DMC series placed it, many times, on par with the Ninja Gaiden series, in terms of difficulty and and the 60FPS hack&slash gameplay. What bothers me with this videos is how passive the AI appears to be, a notable contrast to the otherwise aggressive and responsive AI that was present in the older iterations. They are like punching bags : simply there to "wow" the player with the uber-skillsets.

At least in DMC3, the enemies keep themselves on the aggressive side : not only attacking you constantly, but simultaneously countering your attacks to break off your combos, if allowed.

They looked weak and pathetic , but I am not sure that is a fair representation of the game's difficulty level so all we can do is wait and see.I will say this though , DMC3 was too hard and punishing the way they had it set up ,I bet less than a quarter of the people who tried playingi t actually finished it ....... hopefully they didn't overcompensate and it strikes a good balance ...... challenging , but fair ....... and a good save system.

I'll do admit DMC3 might be hard for the majority of gamers out there. But DMC4's demonstration of the AI's fighting capability is pathetic, even for an action game oriented towards a more general gamer population other than the hardcore action gamers out there.

Besides, DMC3 wasn't exactly "hard" per se, in terms of the combat system. Sure, enemies deal A LOT of damage, but it was particularly the "continue system" where you literally had to load a previous save that made the original DMC3 hard. I mean, how many times were you killed by the last stage boss only to realize you have to restart the level from the beginning?

In the DMC3 Special Edition, the game dropped the difficulty by one notch, but they added a checkpoint system using Gold Orbs (replacing the use of Yellow Orbs), allowing you to respawn in the previous area from where you died, making the game significantly easier than the original edition, even if you play the same exact difficulty level.

I'm confident they'll provide a hardcore mode for those that want to play DMC4 in its true, hardened form. But so far, from the footage, it's all show, no substance...

Instead of thinking tactically and through reflex: "Hmmm.. the enemy has entered into this stance, meaning the next attack is most likely this pattern / method..I'll counter it with this technique..."

This goes through your head : "Woah zomg Im mashing teh buttonz and wow at the awesome effects! The LOLZ!!!1!!Shift+1!"

Dunno what to think of it to be honest... Only thing thats disappointed me is the soundtrack for the battle theme and bosses, but the gameplay looks great, though it does look likes it's gotten easy.

This game is "locked" on easy mode. All previews given are all locked on easy mode, check gamesrader new preview. Not to mention that DMC requires skill, so therefore, the players suck. Everyone said the same thing for DMC3, but when the DMC3 demo came out, DMC fans showed what DMC was all about and pulled off amazing skills.
