not fake CoD4 realism with flashy lights etc, but real realism with things like 1 shot 1 kill and huge openended maps ( what basicly can only be done on the PC)
for example
- Joint Operations
- Forgotten Hope 2 mod for Battlefield2
- Armed Assault

you mean like GRAW, GRAW 2, and Rainbow Six Vegas.. oh wait, i thought it could only be done on the pc.. guess you haven't used a console in a while.JohnGerstmann
the funniest thing is that you think GRAW, GRAW2, and Vegas are realistic in any way. the pc versions of GRAW trump the console ones when it comes to that matter and Vegas just threw it out the window. they ruined Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 when they put the games on consoles.
OP another good BF2 mod is Project Realism, just recently got in to it and i love it

you know, a realistic shooter is one where you reload your weapon, and the remaining ammo in your magazine doesn't jsut magically accumulate up into your total ammo count. I have yet to see a shooter which takes realism that far. Hence, no game is realistic enough for me yet. Your standard of realism is but a fraction of mine.

Insurgency mod is another great mod to try out, you need HL2 and/or one of the mp games for it (hl2mp, css, etc) and the source sdk base
SWAT 4 and the other games in the SWAT series do that. as does R6: Black Arrow i believe, although i've never played it. only heard second hand accounts

There is a reason why none of those games are popular. Joint Operations and the BF mod probably averages around 0 players.

and ForgottenHope has 2567 online, which is not bad for a beginning mod
you need to know that gaming goes further then America or Halo
and ArmA is very populair in Europe
PC gamers are understandably bitter over their diminishing market but I really am getting tired of the tears masked as pride and superiority.L1qu1dSword
Iam not saying PC superior Imo :?, I am just asking if Console players like Realistic games, since most of their games are not aiming for realism
you shouldn't jump to conclusions so quick

Uh, Battlefield 2 does that, one of the most popular multiplayer FPS ever made, so you obviously haven't played many FPS games.

all of those games he listed do that....
in fact, many many games do this on the PC....
hell even BF2, a unrealistic game overall, does this.

yeah thats why I haven't played a R6 game since the first if anyone here has played that remember the pre mission planning you had to equip you teams(multiple teams instead of just one like in most newer r6 games) and actually plan their path through the mission using a map and waypoint system there was nothing more satisfying then calling on you ai team using commands and have them flank a room as you came in the front door or vice versa or have it planned that one team would take the majority of the firfights while another team snuck in the back to rescue a hostage or plant a listening device on a phone. the new rainbow six games haveremoved that planning stage in exchange for a much more linear mission structure.

IMO the first one was not the best....I think Raven Shield was the high point of tactical realism in a game.

I never said it was the best butit was the first game to incorporate such tactical action in that way I am mostly a console gamer and I never really played many of the other rainbow 6 games except a few short plays at friends houses of the dumbed-down versions on consoles I believe it was the 3rd when they started making the pc game more console like but I could be wrong you probably have more experience with the series than me to know exactly when they started dumbing down the series.

#3 was raven shield which was deffinetly still very realistic...I think it was the next one (lockdown?) when the PC version lost all its realism.

Arma ussually has around 500 players and 95% of them are in Germany and the UK. You just made up those numbers for the other games becuase there isn't anyone playing them.
Edit: there are actually 76 players for Forgotten Hope 2 and they are in Germany. LinkMods are not popular with Battlefield 2

Umm battlefield?
I play both PC and Consoles but i will say that Americas Army and Operation Flashpoint are two of the most realistic FPS i've ever played.
Nothing wrong with realism but when you deal with real war in our world you sometimes want something different in a game.

That argument is so cliched and dumb. Stop using it.
People just want to experience realism in a GAME. In the military in case you didn't know, when you die you don't come back.
