[QUOTE="Swift_Boss_A"]

[QUOTE="Unforgiven2870"]when has it been useful in the firstplace?? You already said you hate FPS so you think all FPS games fail.

Unforgiven2870

I don't know about you but SP should be standard in every game, this has nothing to do with my hate for FPS, difference is I would have disliked MAG less if it had a SP compared to now :P

Sp should be standard in every game? hmm interesting.Sometimes i like the idea of straight up Online though.

It would be silly of me to think this will become a trend that all devs will start making online only games. I hold SP really REALLY highly, call me ol scool but I could never be as excited for an online only game compared to a SP only game.

They are not credible because some how in a 2-3 week span Zipper interactive totally changed the graphical look, feel and gameplay of MAG they did so much thats its not even the same game.
Come on seriously if any one had played the game in Beta for long enough they could get a pretty good jist of what the final product would be, I expect full retail reviews of this game too match closely with the few early reviews we have.

WilliamRLBaker

Um perhaps you should read the review, one of is major complains is its near impossible to get a full 127 members on your team. Well no crap the game isnt even out yet its complaints like that which are simply ridiculous .

Well it should be considering Sony/Zipper skipped campaign in this title, it would completely suck if it fails as an online game since there is no SP to fall back on.

[QUOTE="Ontain"]i've seen reviews of mmorpgs before release. while you might not be able to get the feel of the community you can still review the technical aspects of the game. and MAG isn't an mmo either. so inferring what 256 players in a game (most of whom you'll never see) isn't as hard to do.Nike_Air

If you played the game , you'd understand the need to play acquisition and domination modes in MAG. It's not just community ..... but gameplay mechanics , map designs , weapon/ability upgrades and how they impact players for those modes as the game opens up, leadership/communication roles , etc. You just can't get that from playing the other modes in the game. All that is doing is getting you familiar with basica likerunning , shooting , aiming , switching weapons , and heading towards the opponents or learning where to go and defend or attack one little objective. What you play a little later is the game is a night and day experience.

And fromtechnical eperience , the game gets completey nuts with all of the air stikes, turrets , introdution of vehicles on top of the high player counts. You have to experience that first hand. You can't really make assumptions on what it is going to feel like. And the good thing about it is that it doesn't take long to get there and doesn't take any time to reach the upper levels. There shouldn't have to be any guesswork involvedwith this game. This isn't an MMO.

so did none of this happen in the beta?

no all of that was available in the beta, infact from what i've seen of the retail product its not much different from the last beta build in the open beta.

Only on gamespot do people advocate journalists reviewing betas and demos instead of waiting for the actual final product :?

There were different betas with different modes unlocked , and of course stability improvements and other fixes/adjustments/upgrades.(only one open to the genral public I believe for a very limited time). They arethere to fix problems , test servers ,and balance the gameplay properly before release. But the thing is , a lot of us in the betas can sniff out the people who haven't spent any real time with the game even in the betason what they write.(like nowgamers review/rant). It's very tranparent. There's just no excuse for it.

If they do a review largely based on the beta , that's fine if they really did play a lot of it and hit all the modes and dig into actaully spending skill points on things and trying out at least a few of the classes and weapons. That is the nuts and bolts of the game and should be easy to review. But they should test the game out again and see what final changes were made and test it again. Someearly reviews are coming across as early impressions based on limited timewith limited modes that they tried. That makes no sense for a game like MAG with its features and modes. It takes sometime to get there , but it doesn't take a ton of time to level up a character enough and to get into the higher modes to get what the game is about. I have no idea why some are rushing impressions out there and passing them off as reviews with scores.

So if the developer does give the final review code, it does not warrant the journalist to make the review

I'm giving away free kicks to the crotch but you are not allowed to review it until a few weeks have passed and I get a chance to kick you around three or four thousand times. Any takers?

because the final retail product is any different from the last beta build? *clue: its not, infact every thing i've seen from recent quick looks and videos show its the exact same game with no real differences between the last beta build and retail product so its pretty much safe to say if they are reviewing the last beta build they are reviewing the retail version.*

The last beta didn't even have aquisition mode in it. I don't see howanyone can review it without playing that mode.

The TC may be on to something; the game has 2 reviews that average 8.5. There is no way the score can be that high.
