I mean come on, all the game that push the graphics on the 360 games are done by third parties and not by any of the internal development studios themselves.

I mean Gears of War, Bioshock, Mass effect, Cod 4, Alan Wake, and Project Offset show what the 360 is capable of and none of the developers are owned by Microsoft. Microsoft must truly have the worst first party development studios. Only Rare gives me hope that when their gamesare revealed it will push the 360 further then what the third parties have been capable of.

I have much respect for Sony and Nintendo in that at least they try to sell their own system.

Rare is known for pushing amazing graphics out for its games. I mean Conker is one of the best looking Xbox titles, I have a feeling Banjo will be one of the best looking 360 titles

It is the only reason why I mentioned them and have high hopes for the games they release.

Gears of War and Mass Effect were or are both being published by Microsoft. I'm willing to bet they have been of great assisstance as to why these games look so good. From what I understand Microsoft is very good about helping third party developers.

I don't believe Remedy is owned by Microsoft. Alan Wake was coming to the PS3 too until MS decided to publish it.

MS should have helped the Turn 10 and Bungie developers then because those games don't seem to be pushing the hardware far enough even though they are good looking games. They are just not setting any standards.

Um Halo 3 was amazing. not in terms of graphics but as an overall game.

It was superior to gears. its better than bioshock IMO great SP and great MP beat out an awesome SP.

ITs better than COD 4. Alan Wake isnt out yet and neither is project offset.

GOW, and Alan Wake are MS published games same as Mass Effect which is made by a third party dev.

Forza 2 is an amazing sim racer. once again it makes up in variety, depth, and gameplay where it loses in graphics.

I know bungie isnt MS anymore but still there published games have done the best so far, so they are obviousaly making all the big moves in terms of 1st/2nd party games.

Also in terms of lasting appeal and overall quality i would put up Halo 3 against any of those "set the standard for the 360" third party games. I know darn well 3 years from now Halo 3 will still be more active than those games.

I know this is true, but you are coming from a gameplay perspective. Halo 3 overall is a beautiful game, but the charcter models of the marines are bad. It is just not a huge step up in graphics as I was hoping for.

Shows how good they are at making development software I guess. It doesn't require inside knowledge to create great looking games on the 360. (thats the way I see it anyhow)

Yea, but why aren't the internal studios selling the platform. Exclusives sell systems and being able to push all that a system can muster should be done by the first party studios.

I can't believe you're even bringing up Nintendo.

If it wasn't for their 1st party development (in house), they would have been along side the likes of Sega right now, because they wouldn't have gotten out of the disaster that was the Gamecube.

Basically I'm saying that if there is a problem with third party support on the 360, then Nintendo should be putting up the white flag.

He isn't saying there's a 3rd party support problem for the 360 (in terms of in-game visuals,) he's saying the opposite. He's saying that first parties aren't taxing the hardware as they should be.

Woops, you are right, I didn't bother reading it :D I just skimmed over it and picked up the words Sony and Nintendo.

Well if that's the case then, you can't blame MS. They almost have a PC like approach to 360 and they don't seem to have an established creative team capable of making great in house games.

Wrong.

Bungie was OWNED by Microsoft, they were 1st party right up until after Halo 3 was released. Microsoft chose to pubilsh Halo 1 and Halo 2 on the PC (yet Bungie remained first party,) Microsoft still owned them and they realized they could make much more profit in doing so. They were owned by Microsoft, that is the DEFINITION of 1st party. The were not 3rd or 2nd party, but they're 3rd party now.

Example of 2nd party: Epic. Why? Because they're not owned by Microsoft yet Microsoft published Gears. Because Microsoft doesn't own the company yet they published their game that makes them 2nd party.

3rd parties aren't owned by any console manufacturer, and their games aren't published by any console manufacturer.

Yeah but the TC is pointing out that those arent first or second party devs, those are third party devs. I think the reason why most third party games look better on the xbox 360 is quite obvious that third party devs have built most there games from the ground up using the xbox 360 hardware and is why they arent looking so good on the ps3 because they havent built an engine taking advantage of the ps3 hardware like Insomniac and Naughty Dog have. U will see alot of ground breaking games in term of graphics and physics for the ps3 when games like uncharted, killzone 2, MGS4, FF13, and other big name titles come out for the ps3. I mean Lair even though a flop has proven graphically it is up there with gears of war and other titles and heavenly sword and Ratchet and Clank has set the benchmark in there genre's of gaming with what they are capable with on the ps3. Uncharted will do the same when it is released in a week or so. PS3 is already showing tons of potential with its graphics and physics in such a short time and already being on the same level as xbox 360 games and maybe even surpassing them. We will see a little bit of that when Uncharted gets released. Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 will all be breaking ground games aswell for consoles. Things are starting to look good for the PS3.

Yea Forza 2 by turn 10 graphically first party developer. Then you have Bizarre Creations third party developer now owned by Activision to make PGR4 the best looking racer to date out now on a console.

Yes I have. PDZ had terrible character models but great textures. Halo3 has bad character models in that the marine character models are bad. I said it is a beautiful game, but it is not pushing hardware to set a standard. Maybe it s lighting if anything. Halo 3 has the best lighting in any game I ever playe dor seen.

The first party should focus on promotion and making development tools. If they, who have all the insider technical knowledge, compete forthe largest chunk of the pie what are the third parties in it for?

It's supposed to be harder to code for two consoles with diffrent strenghts and weaknesses ,yet the top third party multiplatforms are looking as good as the the best first and second party exclusives. COD4, A Creed,HL orange Box,Elder Scrolls,

Rare and Bizarre, Kameo and PDZ look AMAZING and so does PGR3 and 4
