I literally almost get cramps in my hands from using it... Don't get me wrong it's my overall favorite controller for most games (TPS, Sports, etc.) but just for FPS I can't hardly use it... maybe it's the analog sticks being too close or too loose but I just wish I can use my X360 controller for FPS... this would make KZ2 perfect. Anyone else have this problem too?

The Left stick is out of place that is why on PS2 games I always used the D-Pad unless the developers forced me to use the Left Stick.

They only bother me when some clueless companies map the shooting to the R2 and L2 triggers and don't let you change it. Sticks are fine.

It's the flappy pads on the back that bother me. I want triggers.

Killzone 2's horrible controls+Dual shock just wasnt working for me. I cant stand the position of the sticks right next to eachother.

As much as an anti-lemmming I am, I have to admit the 360 controller is the best.

Nah, its fine, though I hate how the L2 and R2 buttons hang from the edge of the controller. Kinda uncomfortable to use.

UGH i hate R2 and L2 for shooting. it feels terrible and tells me that the ps3 version was a port bc if any of these developers ever played fps on ds they would know that fire buttons are R1 and L1. Just bc R2 and L2 are the same place as 360's triggers doesn't mean they should serve same function. R2 and L2 work best as pedals for vehicle games and in FPS they should serve as either secondary fire (if the game has one or has Aim mapped to L1 as it should be), grenades, or weapon change, or couch or any combination above. I have played fps on ds for years and my brain is wired to use R1 as fire button that sometimes in games i hit it thinking it will fire but instead it does something else and screws me up. The worst offenders are Army of Two, Bioshock, Lost Planet, and Orange Box ( orange box has a terrible default control layout on ps3 but luckily you can map it however you want). I actually love playing Fps on ds bc i have done it for years that anytime i pick up 360 controller to play one i feel off

Not really. I get use to almost anything. Sure the analog sticks are a little too much tension on the recoil, but over all I like it.

Hate them too, one reason why Killzone 2 and Resistance 1 and 2 felt really meh to me at first, then got used to it and now I just manage. But still prefer the 360 controller much more.

I played KZ2 today and I think it was a mix of the games aiming and the fact the sticks are more sensitive, but it felt horrible compared to like CoD4 on 360. I think it was partly the game though, you move the stick a tiny bit and it moves super fast but if you move to turn it goes slow, so you feel sluggish but can't do any precise movements.

I've always preferred the DS3 setup over the Xbox controller. But, truth be told I've spent a hackuva long time playing the DS model (back end of the PS1 era), and after that long, it would take a while for me to feel comfortable with anything else... even it it were better.

Bottom line:

It's basically a moot point between consoles but if you're going to get a gamepad for your pc, the 360 controller is your best bet.

I actully really love the DS3 for FPS games, sure i would change a few things about given a chance, for example i would love the 360's triggers (L&R2) and it's plastic case BUT i prefer the PS3's 2 sticks in the middle with the d-pad at the side and i do prefer the PS3's main buttons (including L&R1).

I actually like the DS3 better for FPSs, maybe I'm just used to it because it's basically the same as in the PS1 days controller. I hate the 360's D-pad, I also hate RB and LB, my fingers also feel awkward when pressing LB/RB. I do hate the R2/L2 triggers, I wish they would make them actually good triggers or just make them buttons like on PS2(I hate when games make you use R2 to shoot)

Yeah, the DS3 feels very flawed in shooting games, wish they would have stuck to the boomerang :(

I sure as heck can't.

I didn't like the symetrical analog stick placement of the original DualShock controller and, seeing as it hasn't changed much since, I don't like it now. Add to that the convex design of the triggers and you have a controller that I just can't get behind when it comes to shooters.

If I was used to it then it probably wouldnt be an issue but when my friend and I play COD on my 360 and then on his PS3, we both find ourselves playing worse, missing shots and wishing we could use the 360 controllers

meh i can cope, but when i hold a 360 controller i get spoiled lol, there are little mods to help make your ps3 controller more comfortable, or im sure if you do some research theres some 3rd party controllers you could buy that are well made.

i mean seriously, why on Gods green would they make triggers that actually curve out instead of in? who was the jerk that thought up that idea? i cant express how dissapointed i am in that flawed design...

i have fairly big hands and i still think the 360 controller is too big, and those little action buttons are pretty but also pretty annoying. as for the triggers gamestop has realtriggers for 4.99. they just snap right on over your original triggers. that may be a steep price for plastic buttons but so is 20 dollars for a rechargable battery that should be standard -_-

I don't like the DS3 for anything that requires dual analog control, namely shooters. The placement of the sticks is just way too awkward.

I am totally fine with it. I dont understand all these complaints about thumbs touching each other, it seems impossible to do. I guess my hands are just normal and not oversized like other people's. I dont get cramps either.

The 360 controller is of course better, but I really don't see the problem with the DS3, and I honestly don't get why people complain so much about the thumb stick.

I wish there was an alternate controller that was bigger and moved the analog stick around as well as fix the triggers for those people who find the DS3 to be such a nuisance, but I'm fine with it.

After playing with the Xbox 360 controller for the first time I couldn't see how I played my PS2 all those years. Even now I've tried to go back & play some games on the PS2 & can't because I hate the controller now, Xbox 360 is way more comfortable & just the right size. PS2 & PS3 are too small as well as applying a lot of stress to the thumbs.

However, Dream Gear has released a controller for the PS3 that corrects the placement of the analog sticks.

I dont love the DS on FPS either, actually im not overly fond of the DS or Sixaxis I feel like they're too tiny for my hands or something like that... i really like the 360's controller I feel it has the best design its pretty comfy even though the D-Pad sucks so bad...

never have a problem my hand only cramps from playing to much not because of the DS3 design. i don't like the R2/L2 buttons but it not a big deal. what i don't get is how people complain the sticks are too close together unless you have massive thumbs or use the bend of your thumb i don't see the problem

it's fine not better no worse than the 360 controller. they both have sticks which don't work well for fps.
