I think it's possible to get used to, but I think it is much more sensitive than the 360 controller.

the sticks on the ps3 controller are in a naturally uncomfortable position for fps gaming, you can get used to it and play well, but its very much not optimal

They only bother me when some clueless companies map the shooting to the R2 and L2 triggers and don't let you change it. Sticks are fine.

i know, i hate that

like GTA IV? but i'm used to it already. You can change to the classic controls, though, but I experience a lot of issues with the control layout(like when driving and you are going to use the cp or someone is calling you and when you perform a drive-by which is completely different from previous GTAs). It just feels weird.

Yeah it's annoying. It suits uncharted fine but the FPS games are poor in controls

DS3 is outdated. The DS already felt outdated after using the NGC controller last gen. I don't like it for any game really.

If I gotta pick between the 360 controller and the DS3, I prefer the 360 for the placement of the analog sticks and the triggers. But really, for FPSs, I don't like any controllers. K/M - any time a shooter has a PC version, I'm opting for that

I love the DS3 when it comes to fps, it doesn't look like it would work, but i think it's nice to use, maybe because i have laarger thumbs.

Not really...I play FPS on the 360, PS3 and PC and I have no problem switching between any control scheme.

It's abit hard stretching your thumb (left analog to move) and shooting and aiming (right hand on R1 and right analog) etcetc it's okay but not THAT bad... still Keyboard+mouse ftw

Well, a part from the distaste from a few people about the placement of the analogs. You guys should look into the Real Trigger extensions by Gioteck if you don't like the paddles. Granted most FPS games don't have the aiming and firing buttons for the paddles but rather L1 + R1 but there's a few popular ones out there that either let you change it to that or require the paddles for firing. Anyways, here they are: http://www.gioteck.com/product_realtriggers.html

Another example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSyKpiIcyWk

You may not like the look of it from Gioteck's promotional picture but look around. A lot of people love these. My Gamestop sells them behind the counter for $4-5 and it is worth it. I think they are actually a little bit better than my Xbox 360 controller since it has a gripped texture. Anyways, not trying to sell it or anything but I figured those who actually have issues with the triggers may find them very. very useful. I wish Sony would adopt them as a first party accessory or at least push for it to be advertises more. Then again, that's like saying any controller "needs" improving. Which for this case, it doesn't need to but it's a nice addition.

I don't get why people make out it gives you cramps or it doesn't feel right? It has always been fine for me, jumping from mouse and KB to 360 pad to the DS3 is fine. No problems at all, some people are just weird...

It's not as good as some other controllers but I don't hate it, I just wish the triggers and analogue sticks were better.

Lucky for you ps3 is a true multimedia platform and supports the 360 controller :) Buy this if you dont like the ps3 controller. http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/20/use-your-360-pad-on-your-ps3-thanks-to-new-adaptor/ Also 360 pad is horrible for football / fighting games or anything that needs rapid changing of motion and has been proved to be unergonomic.
