Anyone else disappointed in Rockstar this generation?

they haven't developed a single new game this gen and all they've done is rerelease GTAV. Plus they blatantly lied about GTAV singleplayer dlc and have only focused on GTA:Online which sucks. Last Gen they released a great game every year (GTA4/RDR/LANOIRE/MP3/CHINATOWN/GAY TONY,etc) this gen not so much.

I have been disappointed with them since their inception. they made most boring games on earth. they even ruined max payne.

Yeah, not to mention that GTA V online is extremely limited in the stuff you can do. It's a pretty boring murder simulator, to be honest. Once you do the heists, that's pretty much all that's left.

Red Dead 2 will cure all that ails you. :P

I didn't like Max Payne. I haven't finished it but I just got so bored with it. RDR on the other hand...is really fun until you finish the story. GTAV was ok. Haven't finished it either.

Opposite experience for me. Max Payne was decent for what it was, but it didn't come anywhere near Max Payne 2. I dropped RDR and never looked back after I reached the desert. It just became so mundane.

Nah because perfection takes time. I would put GTA V, RDR and Max Payne 3 in the top 10 games of last gen so I'm fine with them taking their time.

None of the three games I tried from them last generation was worth a damn, so they're not exactly doing anything mind blowing by sucking this gen.

My god the vehicle controls in GTAV are horrendous. Especially when trying to land a plane. I always love their games for 15 of the 30 hours it takes to go through those tedious repetitive missions. Thank goodness GTAV gave you the option to skip missions and removed a bit of all the traveling you have to redo if you died.

Still, it's no fun traveling in games.

I know that they're making a shitload of money from GTA5 microtransactions.

I'm in no hurry for their next game, they always deliver on quality and I've yet to finish RDR and LA Noire, so I have to get to those soon.

Maybe at E3 they will reveal something

@ghosts4ever: ...I'm really glad that someone agrees with me on this. The games they make are TECHNICALLY well made but dear God are they boring. At least half the missions in GTAV are just dull, with little action except maybe towards the end. I will never ever understand the hype behind their games and I'm amazed that they're so well loved considering the attention span of the general public. Plus, the way they handle (new ones at least) seem counter productive to what a lot of people like about them, which is causing your own chaos. It seems that the physics and controls aren't very conducive to flying by the seat of your pants action.

Plus it seems like they're obsessed with cramming as much into the games as possible just to say they did. Like the Yoga mission in GTAV. I don't know about you, but I don't play a crime game to play a poorly designed and boring as hell Yoga mini game. They simply get in their own way when it comes to showing the player a good time. When all is said and done, most of their games (that I've played at least) are well designed worlds with little to do in them on top of a very mixed bag set of missions.

People complain when games get released every year, and people complain when games are not released often enough.

Quality takes time. I hope they troll everyone with a VR table tennis game at E3.

No. I still play and enjoy GTA 5 and GTA Online (new content coming June 7th). Let them take their time in making games.

Also there have been reports that a new IP is coming next year too.

Gen 7 began on 2005, and their first "proper" game (leaving aside last gen, handheld, ports, and table tennis) was GTAIV in 2008.

This gen only began in 2013 (you pretend Rockstar gives a shit about the WiiU if you like, but I'm a realist), so they are on schedule to deliver us something amazing soon I reckon.

I was disappointed in them with regards to GTA V.

Ever since Rockstar got caught with that Hot Coffee scandal years ago, they haven't done anything worth a damn since then.

I loved GTA V, I thought it was an amazing game!

Seems like a lot of their focus is on GTA online... I just hope that this doesn't become their main focus going forward (which I'm worried it will be).

I like their games and hope they announce Read Dead Redemption 2 for this year.

GTAV was meh, loved Red Dead though. It seems they are focusing more on online play and microtransactions lately so if they continue with that mindset I am not interested.

Is putting out at least 3 new games this gen too much to ask for? They have been disappointing this gen when comes to the amount of games released. The PS4/XB1 has been out since 2013. Its 2016 now.

They released GTA V 3 times in an order to try and get people to buy it 3 times Rockstar are scumbags

It's really troubling how well GTA online is doing. I know it's egoistic of me, but I don't want R* to shift focus even more to online. It also slows down new releases to a crawl if they are gonna support their games for years like this. Anyhow hope they reveal RDR3 at E3!

Yep, this is my worry. It wouldn't surprise me if GTA 6 is an always-online type game, similar to Destiny, and have the option to do SP missions by yourself... but will be sh** solo. Like Destiny.

Has anybody considered the scale + production values of their games in combination with games flat out costing more to make nowadays contributes more to the gap between games than their online focus?

People go all doomsday when companies like Valve and Rockstar focus online because they think that the company has permanently dropped traditional games. No, they're still working on games, it's just a different market now.

I hope they won't go that far.... Online though requires that they can constantly create new content so I do think it caps the single player content somewhat. There were a lot of features of GTA online that would have been nice to have in SP, but online kind of creates an incentive to keep SP relatively poor in terms of sidecontent sadly. But I still think they'll have a proper campaign for the time being. Don't forget they made like $800million in a day without online...

The PS4 and XB1 came out in 2013...Its now 2016. Thats not "barely getting started".

They added alot to GTA online . Some of those Adversary modes are insanely fun (like Slasher ) but yeah single player was pretty meh

Not a huge fan of Rockstar though, I'd love a new Midnight Club.

Can definitely understand others being disappointed in them.

I stopped caring about them 12 years ago with San Andreas.

Red Dead Redemption I've yet to even play, not sure if I'm motivated to.

I'd of at least like a remake of Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3, plus I liked GTA IV better than V.

Rockstar were better during the PS2 days.

Hope they don't make RDR 2. God that shit was boring. On the other hand I think GTA 5 was the best game they've made. GTA 5 really stepped up the gameplay mechanics.

Well, Red Dead Redemption was probably one of the best games of last gen. Although it did exhibit many of the flaws from older GTA games, it had a few gameplay mechanics that made it far more tolerable (and an insanely fun world to just "mess around" in). Red Dead 3 is definitely one of my most wanted games.

I was really impressed with the jump they made from GTA IV to GTA V as well, both in terms of engine and in how much better the gameplay is compared to the old clunkder GTA games (even GTA IV was really bad in this regard).

GAT5's multiplayer was terrible.

I honestly dont even want another GTA game this gen. There is really nothing that I would care for in another GTA.

I much rather see new IP from them and Red Dead.

But considering GAT 5 made them a Billion dollars in a month from just PS3-360 versions.... we can assume they will do what makes them the $$$

They have slowed down considerably, I guess their games take way more time now.

But Bully, Table Tennis (this one always made me LOLWUT), GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire Max Payne 3, GTA V wasn't bad output last gen. The only one I didn't play was Table Tennis, it was actually reviewed really well though.

Odd that they have essentially released NOTHING this gen, except a port of the GTA V which I guess is like .5 games (I consider that last gen, because that game was probably well underway before they even received development kits for PS4 and XB1). As they have multiple teams, hopefully once they get rolling we will star seeing 1 every year.

Pshhh yeah... I fucking hate the awkward walking/run, cover system, walking through doors, camera, climb/jumping bad melee combat GAT games have. So out dated and clunky as ****. GTA5 was still shit in those areas.

Rockstar figured they couldn't do anything innovative with these weak ass consoles other than having better textures and resolution and medium setting shadows and lighting.
