Anyone else dissapointed in Far Cry 2?

Been playing the 360 version, and so far, IMO..its boring. The game looks amazing, expecially for consoles, but the way the mission are set up and the decision to make you drive long distances to reach a location is tiresome and repetative. The game isn't bad, plays like COD4, but FC2 just feels like a drag. I don't want to go and ask for missions, or have some guys help me out of a sitaution in this hazzy cutscenes all the time.

While i like their attempt of making it realistic, its over done. Games should be simple and fun, meaning, just how it plays should feel good, Far cry 2 doesn't, IMO. Same goes with getting tired/blurry vision, etc. Just puts you out of the game too much. Another thing, why does it take so long to kill someone, even on easy?

BTW, animations could have been better. Only positive thing i can say, is just the technical and graphical side of things.

Thoughts?

yep, thats what bugged me. Scale is good, but gsus, cut it down abit..expecially for a place like africa.

It is a great game.

I was a bit let down , but its still great.

I was expecting one of the best shooters this gen... Honestly its not the best, but it certainly is damn good.

I haven't played myself.

My brother did though (pirated it, which is why I'm not playing it) and he likes it overall. He told me that some of the things that happened while he was playing killed the immersion for him. He hasn't played it for a few days now.

I'm not disappointed in the game but I'll copy and paste from the 360 forums what is pissing me off about it-

-Having to drive and drive and drive and drive and drive and drive to your next location gets so bland and tedious. It makes the game twice as long as it has to be. The devs should have included some kind of "fast travel" option like in Oblivion.

- CONSTANTLY being followed and harassed by guards when I'm driving to the next mision. The occasional firefight can be fun but it just gets annoying after a while.

-I don't know how but I have somehow "abandoned" one of my buddies. And I have no idea how to get him back.

-No quick button for the machete, like with grenades. It's lame having to press "up" to select it before you can use it. It may sound extremely minor but it's a little awkward when you're surrounded by 4 armed guards trying to murder you.

-Weapons jamming. OK, I can appreciate that they wanted to make the game realistic but it just seems to happen too much.

-The GPS diamond-locator-thingy could be a little more helpful.

It has it's flaws but I'd give it 8-8.5 so far.
