I have spent $1100 on software this year alone, spread out across nearly 45+ titles. Last year, I spent close to $700. My shelves are stuffed with more games than I can conceivably finish. While I am quite good at finishing my games, I find that I am revisiting each previously-purchased title less because there is something awesome releasing every week. I am really fatigued. My, my, why were there so many awesome games this year?

Is anyone else just as fatigued as I am? I skipped a ton of major releases this year and I still feel as if I have bit off more than I could chew. In contrast, I bought only 5 titles at launch in 2007, 3 titles in 2008, 4 titles in 2009, and 10 titles in 2010. This year, I brought 16 new titles at launch, record for me. And I still skipped a lot of major releases, like MW3, Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, Gears of War 3, etc.

You've got one hell of a problem. You should be buying games to play them, don't buy more than you can finish.

No. I actually finish most of the launch titles I buy. Much of that money went towards these new releases. But, on the other hand, around 35% of that cash went towards purchases of older titles on Steam and other digital download services.

I bought sixteen titles at launch, the rest were mostly repurchases of older games on Steam or deals I couldn't pass up.

So calling someone a virgin is an insult now? Maybe he's just saving himself for marriage. Who are you to judge? I was just stating that he was a virgin. There's nothing wrong with that, but apparently not to you.

Releases have gotten so frequent that I've been waiting for price drops and sales on most of my games. I play MMORPGs (WoW, and testing TOR) in between that. Games have just gotten so expensive. It's more economical to wait for sales and just play an MMO.

In and of itself, absolutely not. However, based on absolutely no information, other than the individual bought a lot of games, yes. Furthermore, you also based it on his "age", when it wasn't outlined. I have no dependents and no debt, and I am 24 years old and in full-time education. I'm not saying TC is in the same boat, but his classification covers a broad spectrum.

It's all about the context.

I'm not judging anything, other than your posts. Who are you to judge what an individual is based off using little to no information? You're showing your hypocritical side.

It makes sense, and saves money. There are a few games that are absolutely release day buys, but a lot I can do without until later.

In truth, it's always better to wait. But, I have more money now than I did as a teenager, and I don't spend money on anything else, so a lot of it goes to buying stuff at launch. Of course, stuff at launch is always more expensive than buying it six months down the road. Not economically the wisest thing to do, but hey, I am hardcore.

I know TC this year has been crazy with game releases and its even worse for me because I own both a ps3 and 360. Since Sept I have bought Madden12 ( recently, traded it for MW3), Gears 3, Batman Arkham City, and Modern Wafare 3. Black Friday I am buying Uncharted 3 and BF3. Then in December I am buying WWE 12, AC Revelations, and MGS HD Collection. Other games I have bought this year Dead Space 2, DC Universe Online, Mortal Kombat, Infamous 2 (though I have traded in all those games to buy other games expect DC Universe Online because you can't resell that game).

I have been much smarter about buying games since the beginning of this year. Its hard to justify paying $60 for a game when you can get it on Amazon for $10-15 cheaper in just a few weeks. Problem with most games now is that they do not give you your money's worth. I bought Dark Souls and SKyrim day one because I know that I will get plenty of play time with them (already have 120 hours in Dark Souls).

A game like Uncharted 3 that will take me 7 hours maximum in which I have no real interest in the MP, is not a game I'm going to go out and drop $60 day one when I already have otherg ames to play

DA2 wasn't worth it at launch, but I think you can pick it up pretty cheaply now.

True. I never buy games at $60. The most expensive game I bought this year was the PS3 version of Portal 2 (at $55), but that came with $20 of credit on Amazon.

I was less conservative this year than in previous years, correct. But, there were so many awesome games this year, and many awesome digital download sales on top of that. What did you buy this year?

I did resell a lot of my old games to make up the difference, though. Net resales, I spent $700 this year.

I bought Mortal Kombat, Strike Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online, Dragon Age II (What a f***in' waste), Gears 3, RAGE, Halo: CE Anniversary, and Skyward Sword.

That's it? I only bought Rage and DA2 out of that list.

DA2 wasn't worth it at launch, but I think you can pick it up pretty cheaply now.

Yeah, that's it. I plan to play most of those games for a while, plus some older stuff. I don't need that many games.

That's interesting. But then again, I do know people who only buy a few games per year. People like me are probably on the extreme edge of the distribution.

I doubt I'll buy as many games next year, though. This year was really an anomaly.

The only games I bought when it first came out this year was Batman Arkham City, and Madden 12.. I wish I had money to spend on video games...

I bought a lot more games last year, personally. Most of the stuff this year didn't interest me.

The $20 Amazon credits are awesome. Its a shame more retailers don't do stuff like that. GameStop only tries to reward you by buying used games since thats all the really profit off of
