On the PC the fps genera (tps as well) is still in great shape. Unfortunately on consoles any progress/innovation has been hampered by the call of duty generation.

I feel that you're playing the wrong shooters. Play Stalker, Fear, Crysis, and others. You'll see how great some PC shooters are compared to the generic overdone nonsense. SilverChimera
Yesssssssssss. I thought the same thing about 8 years ago or so? But what has come out since then? BFBC2, TF2, L4D, Halflife 2, Alpha Protocol, Borderlands, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 (which you can play as FPS), Stalker, Portal, etc, etc. There are many many shooters and i think that will be the case for some time, but there are very different kinds of shooters, and you just need to find the right ones for you.

If you just play CoD1 CoD2 CoD66 1/2 and another CoD copy in a row, anyone would get bored of that.
