Anyone else find Ragnarok boring?

This seems to happen with every sequel for every game. The 2018 game is amazing, but this. I'm struggling to finish it since buying it day one, having bought it with Ms rewards points. Haha. Thanks, MS.

The levels are mediocre, the combat is average, and the story is uninspired. I spent an hour like an idiot the other day collecting fruit. You'd think after spending 5+ years on the game they could have made it at least better than the first. I would have been happier watching this on YouTube. 🤦‍♂️

No worries if you dont like it I mean I dont understand why an average game like BoTW is hyped or why people like mario. Its ok just move on and play whatever you like.

I haven't played it yet, still on Horizon, but I seriously doubt I won't enjoy GoW.

Well I notice there are gamers that expect a game to wow them within the first few hours but this game isn’t one of them. It unravels slowly and steadily keeps getting better.

@tjandmia: That's literally what I did. Watched about eight hours of a twenty two hour video, and was bored for most of it. That fruit scene, and the one leading up to that was absolutely disgusting.

If anything, this reminds of the Bouncer on PS2. Have the occasional weak encounter, then watch a movie. Rinse and repeat. Maybe it gets better, like some of you claim, but I have seen nothing that I personally enjoyed. Still has amazing production... but again, they forgot the fun.

I purchased my copy at launch but haven't been able to touch it yet. I did notice the lack of hype and chatter around this game soon after launch. Apparently everyone seems to be having the same consensus: It's simply more of the same. Surprising given that every reviewer practically has given it a perfect score.

That's just par for the course with Sony games... they're always overrated by most reviewers. If the same game was released by another company, it'd score a couple of points less I'm sure.

The only one who's picking up Halo is you after 1 year of not playing it. Enjoy the 1h you'll get out of it before you're bored af of this uninspired, generic and forgettable fps that even Microsoft wants to get rid off of.

Whatchu mean lack of chatter? Its a long game with a lot of content. People are playing the damn thing. Or were you expecting Elden Ring amount of chatter all over the web? What game, released in 2022 had anywhere near the amount of people talking about it as ER? None.

I think it's probably more a diminishing return on expectations... We've already experienced God of War in this new way, so despite it being perfectly well designed it can't live up to the splash of the first game....

I actually feel that way about a lot of games and movies. Mass effect 1 is my favorite despite 2 being a better designed game. Sane with the Nolan batman movies. I like begins better than dark knight.

Halo's 9 is as worthy as Scarlet and Violet's 8.

I played 2018 GOW for like 1 and half hour and it was so boring that you are absolutely doing nothing at all.

first impression is last impression. if game doesnot grab in first 2 hours than its bad. its lazy design.

these games are for viewers who get "WOW its so cinematic" "wow its like im watching a movie" instead of gamers.

and yes I have seen in facebook comments people are praising these games and calling that "game x is so amazing its like im watching a movie"

That's exactly the reason. Plus, it doesn't help how the 2018 version was already a VERY good looking title for its time, so the improvement in visuals is minimal since they're most likely maxing out the ps4, a system both games were made for. If the next fromsoft title is also open world, unless they aim for a very unique art direction like what BB has, its guaranteed to be less impactful than ER.

@simple-facts: played Deathloop on PS5, and yes it's a great game. Halo though.. made me laugh. Halo is awful

Yep. Ive been a big god of war fan since 2008. Ive played all of them. I absolutely hated this game. It had abysmal pacing with extremely boring sections of the game. Its like they tried to make 8 hrs of cutscenes work for a 30-35 hr long game. It felt so padded and drawn out. I found the story and characters very melodramtic like woe is me and stuff. Odins characterization felt off and i hated his voice and mannerisms after awhile. Combat is extremely repetitive, really spongy, and got old real fast. Opening treasure chests over and over for crap loot got old. Platforming is non existant. Puzzles suck and characters spoil solutions. Extremely linear. RPG gear system still sucks. Everything about it sucked except the graphics

The ironwood section where u rode a yak and picked fruit for 2 hours for example was completely ridiculous and a complete waste of time

Story is slow paced so far. I am maybe 4-5 hours. Just finished the quest to find Tyr.

The beginning is very boring, for sure. I'm only 2 hours in, but I was getting really annoyed until the first few boss battles. I'll keep going since I like the prior game, but currently I'm missing Sonic Frontiers which was fun from the start.

GOW2018 was very borring. If this new one is more of the same. I'm not going to bother.

Nope, Amazing game so far.

Still playing it on my PS5 and doing lots of side quests so it's gonna be awhile before I complete Ragnarok. It has pacing issues but not a major deal breaking of the game. Combat is fun, and the landscape is helluva beautiful. That being said, it's really just you TC.

Even I can say it's right up their with ER for sure.

Just played for a good few hours. I don't like how soft Kratos is with Freya. Constantly apologizing and shit. Story wise, this is the only thing i currently dislike.

Found the first one incredibly boring, so that doesn't sound good.

I got bored of Horizon and stopped playing after about 5 hours or so.

Not played first GOW yet but hope it doesn't go the same way.
