On average, on a scale of 100, Gamespot ends up scoring 5.5 points lower than the general Metascore.

So yes, those who believe that Gamespot scores are harsher may in fact have a point.charizard1605

I think that Game Informer might be the least biased.. check this out ....http://www.metacritic.com/publication/game-informer?filter=games

based on the new vita reviews

Uncharted GA80.......................7

rayman 88...................................8

super stardust 81.......................7

wipeout 2048 79.......................7.5

Rayman got an 8.5 which is the same as the console versions. Anyway, gamespot being lower than the average. News at 11 :|

I thought they had already came out and said they were going to hand out less high scores this year.

Most of the scores above (and other lower scores) were before GS said that though I thought.

Gamespot doesn't match up to an average which is heavily comprised of a bunch of no-name reviewers, as well as a bunch of Playstation exclusive reviewers?

Time to call Washington!

I could be wrong but I swear I heard it before vita launched. I can't seem to find a link to where they said it though :P

i dont get why they would say that though... hand out less high scores?... i mean if a game deserves it, then it deserves it... does this mean they were just givin away 9.5s last year for fun? kinda puts their integrity as reviewers on the line huh?

Not really, all that's changing is the score, which is a very menial part of the review. What should be focused on is the written aspect which most seem to ignore. While I don't read gamespot's reviews often if their written fine then why would you care about a score?

while i personally dont care about the reviews, i still notice things. and it can't be denied that bad reviews can doom a game. and there are people out there that would specifically wait for this site to review a game and then decide if they will buy it or not. sad but true

I don't know if what you said is true or not since I don't know anyone who actually only uses Gamespot as a source for which games they buy. If they do though then they should be focusing on the text to see if the game sounds like something that they would like. This industry relies too much on simple numbers and it's not just the community, it's the publishers as well.

Yeah. I agree with most GS reviews, but some discrepancies are too massive to be ignored -- like TLoZ: SS 75% on Gamespot vs. 95% on Metacritic :x.

But hey, that's kind of good. Each reviewer has an independent personality, and it's good they review games based on their concepts, not others'.

Pffff scores. Hardly significant for gamers who play their games rather than argue about them.

Not sure why it matters. Didn't know their scores had to agree with anyone else's.
