Mario has got to be the most overused videogames, I mean, its the same concept every game, same story every game. And Zelda is almost as bad. For the most part Nintendo brings cartoony games like zelda, mario, pokemon, DK, and others. they just take them and run them into the ground again and again and again...GET SOME NEW GAMES NINTENDO

Play Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and look at some of the Super Mario Galaxy videos then come back and try saying that again.

There have been 2 Zelda games each generation, and only one mario platform game per generation. Now if we look at ratchet and clacnk for example, we get 4 games in one single gen. You were saying? (And NO, Mario party is not a "MArio game")

Metroid Prime, OoT, Super Mario 64? They're all new, because they are only loosely related to their prequels. Moving them into 3-D made them completely different games. Also, the original 2-D games are still made.

Mario, Sonic, Street Fighter, Grand Theft, MADDEN FOOTBALL, Call of Duty, Metal Gear, Zelda, Tetris on everything in existence, Final Fantasy being spawned to death now. I dunno if oyu ask me everything is being sequeled to death these days. Hate to break it to you geeks but there hasnt been much groundbreaking stuff in gaming since 1998. And thats from Consoles and PC's. Half Life, StarCraft, Zelda, Metal Gear and even then they were all sequels or genres that evolved. Now if i'm talking to just say a Sony fanboy who is so close minded then yes i guess your right, but i'm a fan of all. Mario makes tons of money why the heck should they not. Gaming is business, bout making money. That is why all you see these days is World War 2 shooters, Updated Rosters, GTA clones, Mario games, Halo fanboys preaching FPS Console's own Pc consoles. And yeah Pc gamers clinging to life on there mods. Gaming = Money. We = Spending on this crap. If you wanna do anythign about how bad things are getting then everyone just stop buying games just like Gas for gas prices. Will it happen? No. Will Governments ever actually tell the truth and not lie to its people? No. Thats life. Find a new hobby that takes your money to. MONEY MONEY MONEY. Sucks to say but thats life.

Says the guy who most likely owns 6 splinter cell games, 7 Tony Hawk games, 4 Madden games, 10 FF games, etc, etc, etc.

If people like it then they like it. BUt it's pretty ridiculous to complain about getting somew new games when people don't seem to buy new or innovative titles in anywhere near the numbers they buy what they already know.

I've never actually been that fond of the FF series. I like RPGs, but the FF series has never really had the same allure that games like Chrono-Trigger, Pokémon, Paper Mario, Lufia, and Dragon Warrior: Monsters have had.

They are still the same franchise with the same characters and same atmosphere. Gets boring after 20 years. Also most of their franchises haven't changed in over ten years since the early N64 days with Metroid being the exception. Thats hasn't changed in 5 years.

Uh sequels aren't the problem. Nintendo can pump out as many as they want for all I care. They just need to divide their attention between both sequels and new franchises. I probably wouldnt be making this argument if Nintendo had some decent 3rd party support though.

They all have the same basic platforming gameplay with the exact same characters. Its just lazyness on Nintendos part.

Actually, Metroid hasn't changed in 21 years. It has stayed true to the formula established by the first in the series. It has evolved in terms of what it offers but has not changed significantly since 1986. Which is considered a good thing.

I love how people bash Nintendo for "rehashing" their titles and not notice that they offer many new things in every new iteration. Not to mention many of them making very successful jumps from 2D to 3D. Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, Zelda and F-Zero come straight to mind.

Sorry, but 2-D and 3-D versions are completely different games. Also, the fact remains, that Sony is the true king of over-used franchises, which cannot be denied, unless you use your strategy of simply turning a blind eye to the facts that ruin your argument.

I am not a Sony fan but as I said before sequals are fine as long as you also make new games. Sony comes out with lots of new feanchises every generation.

From 2d to 3d its still a platformer with analog controll instead of a d-pad.

13 final fantasy games were unveiled at squares recent convention. 13!!!!!

Super Mario Bros. was a linear platformer, SMB2 featured new enemies and a completely different way to fight. SMB3 introduced optional paths, and multiple different upgrades. Super Mario World took what Super Mario 3 had and polished it, also introducing the character of Yoshi. Super Mario 64 was 3-D, in other words, a completely different game from the originals. Super Mario Sunshine was a platformer/Third Person Shooter. New Super Mario brothers went back to 2-D, but featured many new items, and was basically an expansion on Super Mario World. I don't know what Super Mario Galaxy will bring, but it will certainly be something new. That's far more changes and innovation than I see in 95% of other franchises.

Final Fantasy games are all the same RPGs, the same concept, practically the same way of playing the game.

Mario at least branches out into Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Kart Racing, Partying, Platforming, Dancing and what ever the hell he does these days. Final Fantasy is my second favorite game series after Zelda but they beat Final Fantasy to death. I don't care if they are the different stories worlds or whatever. You act as if each Mario game takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom. Another Final Fantasy is just another RPG. At least Mario branches out. Remakes, Ports, and Spinoffs. Oh yeah did I mention you actually occassionally get a numbered game every now and then? Horray! Seriously though Final Fantasy is the King of Milkage. They have more Final Fantasy games coming out then Megaman and Mario combined. So I don't wanna hear you defend Square Enix on this and I'm sure as hell not defending Mario or Nintendo. But at least Nintendo is giving me a diverse library of experiences to play.

All Square Enix gives me is DQ, FF, the spinoff/remake/ports oh and yeah Last Remenant

[QUOTE="TOAO_Cyrus1"]I am not a Sony fan but as I said before sequals are fine as long as you also make new games. Sony comes out with lots of new feanchises every generation.

From 2d to 3d its still a platformer with analog controll instead of a d-pad.

That's far more changes and innovation than I see in 95% of other franchises.

totally agree

sad attempt at trying to get a 15 page thread here... sadly it will work...

For gods sake people... if you really think that, why post it? Just live with i and let people enjoy their games.
