[QUOTE="Mongo-Boss"]I can't wait to see this outsell Resistance 2 and Gears 2 :lol:Lemmywinks_360

yes because that is great for gamers right? No its not. It tells devs to stop putting alot of money and resources into their game, and pump out the shovelware.

i don't think that anyone can argue anymore that nintendo isn't doing at least some damage to gaming as a whole

Because of the "Wii effect" 3rd party devs have been pretty much forced to make games multiplat which IMO is good for gamers. This has also promoted first party developers. I was a bit worried about everyone going casual but it seems like Sony atleast is pushing forth for the hardcore while MS is at least directing most of its attention to it. Halo 3, Gears, GoW, Resistance, GTA4 and CoD4 are casual games that sell alot and no one complains. MGS4 proved that a hardcore game can sell a lot and I'm hoping other devs follow.

EDIT

I do agree Nintendo is doing some damage especially after what we saw at E3 but I don't think all hope is lost.

[QUOTE="zeldarooles"]Last I checked games were about having fun. Wait, they're not? What are they for then? Ah yes, how many gigaFLOPs and pixels and polygons you have.InsaneBasura

I don't need to spend $50 to play air guitar.

That's pretty much what it is isn't it? Pretending to play notes as you hear the notes playing? The only actual gameplay of it seems to be "remixing" the songs by changing the pace, volume, adding more notes and changing instruments. I can't see this being entertaining for too long. It's very obviously a casual game meant for casual play. So in that regard I guess it'll perhaps have some success.

What songs are included anyway? All the audio in the demonstration appeared to be ****ty midi so I can't imagine there being any actual real songs.

It should be illegal to sell something like this for real money.

Well, you go play with action figures and yugioh cards, im sure theyre fun as well.

Ad hominem attacks won't work on me sir. I never actually said that Wii Music was fun. If you recall, all I responded to was his implication that video games are not supposed to be fun. Here, I'll quote it.

I seriously cant believe how anyone would be hyped for this game. Im 18 years old, sure, I have some growing up to do, but I just cant see a grown adult buying this game for themselves and enjoying it for more than an hour. I think this is a game that only kids can enjoy.

My main problem with the game is that it pretty much requires no skill. Its all about "OMG having fun!!!!!1!!"

I can see the countless sheep coming into the thread saying how insecure I am, and how playing games with guns =/= being mature, and how much fun the game looks. But seriously, anyone?

PS: I made this thread because I am kind of curious of what sheep think of the game, I havent seen a single thread about this game, only being mentioned on other threads.

Samurai_Xavier

Just defending the concept of video games actually being, you know, fun. I wonder where that all went.

Yeah, but when you said that, you were obviously reffering to Wii Music. If you werent, then what was the point of posting what you posted on this thread about Wii Music?

Because he brought up something I disagreed with, the concept that games should be more about graphics and less about fun and gameplay.

I dont think anyone said that in this thread. But I will tell you something.

From what Ive seen, Wii music has both pathetic graphics AND gameplay.

Yes hardcore games still sell alot, but it takes alot to make them. If you were a dev would you make a hardcore game that takes 2 years and 30 million to make, or just make crap like this and carnival games. Thats why im pissed at nintendo. They are diluting the industry, and they are completly saying f you to the hardcore that allowed them to survive the n64 and gc eras.

As I said, I do agree they are doing some damage but Gears and Resistance are casual as well and simply because they get outsold by Wii Music wont mean Epic and Insomiac will start making party games since both games will sell in the millions.

Wow, as a parent I would NEVER give this to my kids, seriously, they will make so much noise with this. I think it will drive parents crazy when it comes out.

Lucky for parents, since it isn't a real instrument, it can be made quieter at the touch of a button

I'm on the fence. From what I've heard, it sounds interesting, because it sounds like you can use it to compose. Still, I'll have to hear more before I make a decision either way.

It's fake...you don't even have to press special buttons to work the music. For instance, with the guitar...it's like air guitar you make movements with your hands and it plays. WEAK

They aren't even targeting the hardcore Guitar Hero and Rock Band players so that is irrelevant.

i know, there targetting the game to more of a very young age group and middle age group thats never gotten into gaming before, its a good concept, its just not one that appeals to me since im not really into games that dont really feel that rewarding

I bet. I mean they had to hire a story writer, and need tons of coders for this large scale project, they definitely needed to boost their graphics team, and they are also putting tons of money into this project. It absolutly not a team of 20 putting miis into a game and adding sound effects, why would I ever think that.

shovelware- a cheap cash-in game that took no time to make and no resources to make. Neither of those could possibly fit wii music.

Yeah im interested. It looks like I can be freerer with this game than say guitar hero; changing tempo, and adding variants when I want to rather than having to stick to a set routine.

I will certainly buy it. It has 60+ instruments. Im pretty hyped about it. Me and my friend will jam a lot with it after were done with our own band.
