I could care less for em personally. I mean c'mon even the Wii fad is starting to die sales wise (has great titles none the less). So why is sony and microsoft trying to tap something that's pretty much dried up?

Can't say I'm in the same boat as you. I like motion controls in certain situations, and when used pracitically, they can really benefit a game. Wii Sports Resort, Metroid Prime 3, and The Conduit are great examples of this.enterawesomeThe controls are the only thing going for the Conduit :P Anyway, I like motion controls on games such as WSR, but most games I prefer dual analog.

I love motion controls for the most part. Games that use them well make it hard to go back to standard controllers.
Motion controls are not just a fad. While they may be limited and exploited in mostly gimmicky ways now, in the long run they offer a lot of real potential when it comes to interaction. This is just the beginning.
Motion controls appeal to casuals core games prefer a pad. You go online with 1 guy with motion control and the other with a pad it's going to be a no brainier who's going to win. I can push a button far faster than you can swing your arm true story. Reaction time is everything and motion controls don;t have it.Motion controls are not just a fad. Motion should only be done with the fingers and hands for gaming. Otherwise yes I believe it to be a fad. Motion done with the wrist, arm, and body are general movements. That's dumbing down the game play controls because of awkwardness. So we get uninspired games that we can use this control sceme at its full potential. 3D is more immersive then motion control.

Yeah, it depends on the game. When motion controls are used correctly, they can be really fun. I really enjoy rail shooters and the Wii is best for that, plus it works great for games like Trauma Center, and games like Wii sports. Yeah, you might be trading speed for look & fail, but in certain games it doesn't matter.
I don't know why people think Natal would be great with FPS. They'll get destroyed on any Multiplayer game against people using a controller.

Which is why controllers like the Move and Wiimote still have physical buttons. Except with the Natal, these concepts are not mutually exclusive.
But on the topic of reaction, motion controls can give you far more precise and fluid cursor control than an analog stick ever could. So already that would give them a huge advantage with console RTS games.
I don't like the motion controllers, but the eye toy/natal looks promising, but not something for every game.

I'll admit that I have yet to embrace motion controls - i'm waiting to see how the 360 and PS3 handles it before I pass judgement. BUT I will say that gaming as we know it is on its last legs. Graphics and power upgrades with a slightly modified controller aren't going to be enough to sell next generation consoles anymore. It's a competitive market, and it doesn't make sense to stay in one place and risk being left behind. Motion control is an obvious next step. It's another step towards adding realism. Similarly, I think 3D gaming is going to be big as well. So whether you care or not,I think it's going to be the future.
I only like motion controls when they preform exactly as a regular controller does. So basically how you play New Super Mario Bros. Wii (holding the controller sideways).

I disagree. When motion controls are done right (and they sometimes are), they're far faster and more accurate than aiming with analogue sticks, so I'd imagine that the guy with the motion controls would win (in the same way that a mouse and keyboard would beat a normal controller in terms of speed and accuracy).
Perhaps you're forgetting that games that use motion controls also use buttons, which can be pressed at the same speed as normal controllers? :P

There is no way anyone on God's green Earth can play a FPS with a analog stick as fast as a pointer. No way. The guy with the wiimote is going to trounce the other guy.
possibly you maybe can't do what I do when it comes to bad being at language this.Yes, I care quite a lot about it, so you can say I could care a lot less, only I don't.
I mean, Jesus.

I don't think they are really that necessary to be quite honest, sure if they are able to add to the experience good but don't feel the need for it.
*Raises hand*
I am not interested in Natal, Move or Wii Motion+. Sony, MS and Nintendo are going to have to show me a great deal more hardcore games with good motion control implementation before I get excited about them.
I will say that seeing SOCOM 4 being played with Move is a step in the right direction, as long as the MP will be balanced appropriately.

Analog sticks (particularly dual ones) weren't necessary when first introduced. The developers eventually found uses for them.
As a PS3 owner. I'm on the same boat. I don't care at all either.
Unless this is the 24th century, I'm on board Enterprise-D and I'm getting an orgasm on the HOLODECK playing Phaserzone (Killzone's spirtual successor).
