personally i'd rather use a mouse and keyboard for an fps if killzone 2 released on the pc i would buy it in a heartbeat.DJ_Headshot
M&K may be better still for FPS (or RTS), but they generally aren't all that practical for those playing from a couch.
as long as they let you implement the old controls as well i'm fine, because I come home from work tired some days and the last thing I want to do is waggle my arms.
btw yaay I just came from the store with God of War 3 :D
I think they are ok, only if used in a particular game centered around them, ie Wii Sports. I don't want to see key franchises ruined due to gimmicky motion controls. I think they would be ok to maybe implement the motion controls in for the mini games, or certain parts of the game, and I hope they don't leave the option out to be played with a standard controller. I haven't purchased a Wii yet, mainly because I'm not into the motion control stuff either. I've played it, thought it was neat, but not something I would want to play a lot of. So lets hope Sony and Microsoft don't ruin their future lineup of games with it, but who knows, maybe it will work??
really dont care about motion controls and i have yet to see a game that impresses me using motion controls
Motion controls are not just a fad. While they may be limited and exploited in mostly gimmicky ways now, in the long run they offer a lot of real potential when it comes to interaction. This is just the beginning.
Motion controls appeal to casuals core games prefer a pad. You go online with 1 guy with motion control and the other with a pad it's going to be a no brainier who's going to win. I can push a button far faster than you can swing your arm true story. Reaction time is everything and motion controls don;t have it. I don't think you have watched the Move demo for SOCOM. They used the Wand + subcontroller, and the guy did not move his arms around at all. It actually looked better with a motion controller. Come on now, analog sticks are the wrost for shooting games, as well as RTS games! You need a pointing device for those kinds of games.I could care less for em personally. I mean c'mon even the Wii fad is starting to die sales wise (has great titles none the less). So why is sony and microsoft trying to tap something that's pretty much dried up?

I personally think motion controls are the perfect solution for certain games, things like tennis and golf and bowling and some sport games etc (when they are implemented properly), and they would be great for a few other types of games too IF THEY ACTUALLY WORKED PROPERLY!
Right now however no motion control solution actually works properly imo, although in the sports games mentioned it seems to be good enough to make them feel pretty close to what I want, and most developers don't seem to know what to do even if they did.
Don't particularly want them. Don't particularly need them. Don't think sitting in front of my tv waving my arms like an idiot is the best way to relax.
I'll give them a go though if the games are appealing enough. So far colour me underwhelmed. I'm still waiting for Red Dwarf's Total Immersion Video Games.
