Anyone "NOT" excited for the next-gen?

once I heard that the PS4 will not even have BC with PS1 games (they even removed CD support so the only way will be digital) I went from day 1 buy to "someday I will get one". The only thing that would sway me to buy day 1 one now is that either GT6 or something like FFvs would be a launch tittle and that will not happen.

I am pretty damned excited about the PS4... because it is what I was hoping for THIS GEN. When I heard things like "PS3 and 360 are going to be amazing NEXT GEN consoles," I got a little excited, but I knew that they were probably going to have quite a few things to iron out with the visions they all had (and boy did they). PS3 and 360 were the guinea pigs. Since SONY already said several times that they screwed up (indirectly), they are vowing for the same thing to never happen again.

The amount of onscreen objects, texture, detail, draw distance, vivid color schemes. frames per second, shadows, filtering, sound quality, artificial intelligence, game size, loading times reduced.... I could name a hundred more. It is all looking great to me.

THIS is the true NEXT GEN that we have been waiting for since the words "NEXT GEN" meant more then just next generation at the starrt of our current generastion (it was meant to be something that would completely blow your mind). My mind was never blown this generation. It was just prettier graphics and not a whole lot else. Plagued with bugs, crashes, errors, hacking, disasters, RROD, YLOD... the list goes on and on... the one thing the big 3 and devs forgot about this gen? FUN.

I really thing that the PS4 (although having true next gen graphics and capabilities for the first time) will deliver what we all hoped the PS3 would and majorly dissapointed.

I guess only time will tell for sure, but my hype meter at just weeks before launch of the PS3 was at about 10%. Right now my PS4 hype is around 90%. If the 720 delivers good news, my interest in all three will be pretty large. I am also going to be getting a beast of a PC within a year.

I'm excited that I will no longer be able to play virtually every port at 1440p max settings 120 fps w/ SGSSAA.

It bodes well for the future of PC gaming. More solid, easily portable multiplats are a win-win for everyone. princeofshapeir

I just hope those multiplats are interesting, and not shallow action games like this gen has been loaded with, though I doubt it. 

Meh, need to see more games, only really excited for Watchdogs and Killzone so far.

Hopefully BF4 is a big leap. I want more destruction.

I wouldn't expect 1st generation games for a new console that are still months or years away from completion to blow anyone away yet. That said the new Killzone footage Sony showed looked pretty cool to me. As far as the next-generation goes I was more pumped for it prior to the specs leaking. I had fully expected consoles in the 2-2.5 tflop range. But it looks like the bad economy is having a huge influence on Sony's and MS's thinking. The PS4 is at least approaching the general vicinity of what I'd call next-gen at 1.8 tflops. But those rumored Durango specs are enormously disappointing, just half the power I thought it'd be.

No not in the least bit.  I don't think there's a reason for it.  The leap from this gen to the "next" isn't going to be much.

The only console that really is next-gen to me is the Wii U.  Aside from the controller, all Nintendo games will finally be HD-powered. So for Nintendo the leap is big and in that sense, I am "jacked out of my mind" to see the next offering of the "core" Nintendo titles.

The op will realize what a blurry mess Gears is when he sees next gen console games at 1080p.

I am liking some of the features that was announced for PS4, so yeah very excited for next gen.

Not too much. My PS3 Backlog is piling up and just picked Far Cry 3, XCOM and Assassin's Creed 3 on sale, as well as Sabateur and Darksiders.

I'll keep playing my PS3 for a long time. Probably won't get any consoles for awhile. Earliest would be 4thQ 2014.

PS4 and WiiU are up there. Part of me wants a WiiU and another part wants a PS4. But all I need is just one console. Not going multiconsole like I did in Generation 6. It's not worth the time or money, imo. 

So it depends what Sony or Ninty will offer in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I have been keeping up with what's going on with the PS4 and I can't wait to see what MS has up their sleeve. I was somewhat impressed with the PS4's graphics and game line-up but I wasn't overwhelmed.....and I'm absolutely sure that the 720 won't be much better!

Looking at the next-gen games that where previewed, they didn't look much better then Gears of War: Judgment, The Last of Us or Splinter Cell:BL. I know it will take a few years for the devs to push the hardware but that's kinda my point....why rush out and get a new system when there hasn't been a big leap?

I think this-gen still gotta lot of life in it, what are your thought's?

This is the least excited I've ever been for a new gen.  I just don't get hyped for this stuff the way I  used to.

I'm definitely glad a new gen here though.

I'm looking forward to the next generation. I do feel that this generation could probably go on a bit longer, but at the same time I'm honestly just a bit tired with the current platforms. Games have also become more limited due to aging hardware, which is now becoming rapidly outdated.

A new set of hardware, along with hopefully a good number of quality new IPs, makes me ready to leap into next gen when the time comes, probably later this year. 

I do have something of a backlog though that I'm having trouble finishing off. :P

Not as excited as I should be.

I'm happy that games will look better and all of that...BUT I'll bee much happier once some new IPs come out. The last couple years have been a bit stale for me.

Aside from a few minor things about the PS4 there´s really nothing that interests me so far,I somewhat doubt the new xbox will be any different and the WiiU isn´t even part of that equation as far as I´m concerned.

Think I'll just stick to PC.  Next gen seems to only be offering things PC already does.  Unless one of the big three get a must have game, I'm passing.

ill buy ps4 on launch to play killzone 4 if it's actually a launch title and ps4 aint like 600$ or 500$

But im not hyped for it lol only game i could ever get hyped for is new unreal not made by epicgames and instead the original developer digital extremes new quake or doom made by idsoftware.

doom4 announced in 2008 still not a single screenshot.

That's the only game people should be hyped for because there's no idea of what the game even looks like or direction they taking the game.

There honestly isnt enough satanic games with pentgrams everywhere upside down crosses disembowled bodies stewn throughout the levels.

Not that excited either, This gen was average at best, either the games got worse, or i'm just out growing video games

time to move onto pc games, they are better and more engaging to the brain.

i'm not too excited about the next xbox there is plenty of life left in the 360 yet.

I am ready. I want to see some new IPs. I love console gaming but it seems like it is in a state of limbo now, just waiting to move on. There are still a couple console games I want coming out, but for the most part, I'm ready for the consoles.

I won't be excited until I see more from everybody. Until then, my PC will be more than enough.

Im buying a ps4,but am i really excited? i would have to say no,im not excited for next gen because i have been playing on pc exclusively for a long time. 

*Raises Hand* I have no interest in it. Maybe in 2 or 3 years, but by then I'll be a year or 2 into gradschool, and I won't have time for this stuff.
