i remember the orginal zelda for the nes it was prety challenging

then came the SNES zelda which was consideriably easer then the nes one

64 was much easer then the snes i usualy beat a boss with my first try

I did not play WW all the way through but my 8 year old brother was able to finish the game but was not able to get pased the first castle in 64 so it tell you something

TP was the easest of the bunch i never died one throught the entire game.

Id recomend you pop in one of your old games that was considered challenging and compare it to todays difficulty in games. Ive found that the difficulty has gotten easier each gen but im not necessarily better.

The combat in the original Zelda was hard, but the puzzles were easy as hell.

I do that all the time with old games, I don't think I can ever beat Battletoads unless I have some real skills or just play the Sega Genesis version, LOL. I can beat some of today's games on their hardest difficulty.

I would have said the difficulty in Twilight Princess was easy-moderate, just like every other 3D Zelda game. If anyone seriously thinks Ocarina of Time was that much harder, then they need to go back and play it again.

The only difficult thing about the Water Temple was the puzzles and navigation. The boss was easy and although Dark Link was challenging, he wasn't that much harder than the amoured knights in TP.

Not really, but thats just me. I thought Majora's mas was harder than Ocarina of time. And I though Twilight Princess was harder than Wind Waker. But I'd imagine that over time it would become less challenging to experianced players in some ways as you'd have a better grasp of how the games work and how to solve the puzzles. As games try to appeal to broader audiences I think Zelda would start to become easier though. I think Nintendo should start implementing difficulty settings to please players of all skill levels.

Agree with you there. I had no problem with the boss, but I had NO idea where to go and what to do during the puzzles. I probably spent 3 weeks on that one temple.

The 2D sprite-based ones stayed pretty difficult. Minish Cap was the last one (maybe in both senses of the word, unfortunately) and it was way more challenging than Wind Waker.

WW bosses were even easier. The final fights with Gannon were both a joke and a yawn fest. At least TP tried to make it look epic...

Doesn't it seem like most games that come out are getting easier and easier? Dead Space, RE5, Bad Company, Okamiand Price of Persia 2008 are really good examples.

The difficulty has gotten easier in all games but I'm not complaining because IMO the older games were too hard to the point of frustration, I just wanna relax and have a good time, and there's still insane stuff like Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn hard mode to keep me bleeding from the brain when I desire it.

Zelda has always been easy. The older games only seem harder because you played them as a child. I remember A Link to the Past was nearly impossible for me as an 8 year-old... now I can beat it in a couple sittings dying a handful of times... and its usually due to something stupid and not a boss.

A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time are the only two Zelda's I've played before this generation. Twilight Princess was a hand-holding cakewalk, Wind Waker (as far as I've got) is simple and Majora's Mask seems like it might present a slight challenge.

None of the games are "hard." Perhaps they might be for a casual gamer who has no experience playing action-adventures, but for any seasoned gamer whose been gaming for more than 5 years should be able to walk through all the games pretty easily, they aren't that hard... they were never designed to be hard, they were designed to be fun.

Overall yes, though Twilight Princess was easier than Wind Waker, and Phantom Hourglass was harder than Minish Cap.

I think that the 2D gens were harder because games were so restricted and limited then. We are given so many more options now and can move about in a full 3D world. So thats my take on it, its hard to explain but it is what i think.

None of the 3D Zeldas are hard, no, but I thought the original and Link to the Past were quite difficult in spots, not to mention Zelda 2.

Uhh.... yes and no....

The 1st Zelda is a ***** to complete

ALTTP was seemed easier, but it's dungeons were more complicated.

OOT again seemed easier to get through, more so than ALTTP, but a couple of the dungeons were pretty difficult.

Maybe I've just gotten better at puzzle solving as I've gotten older (most likely), but yes they do seem to be getting easier.

While the gameplay is becoming deeper, the game design is far less punishing.

something i was going to say. i think it is because we/ u are getting older a smarter as time goes on. something i thought of. yes, i think that the zelda games are getting easier as time goes on. i also think that it is because the game was on wii.... a lot of games are for a wide variety of people.

The thing about the first and second Zeldas is that they lacked the important aspect of telling you where the hell to find certain things. I mean there's a castle or two in the Legend of Zelda that you have to find completely by chance and in Zelda 2 you could go forever without finding the damn little boy or hidden city required to beat the games.

If I don't go nuts buying N64 games, those two are the next on my list when I visit my used game shop. But I assume they are more difficult because they are NES games.

well zelda 2 is completly different then all teh zeldas its a side scroler and has alot of bottomless pits that will kill you with one hit. When you play the orginal zelda write zelda as your name and you will begin on the 2nd quest which is much harder then the first quest. the first quest is not that hard for a nes game and it gets alot easer once you et the magic rod.

i personally never found any zelda game 'hard' jsut frustrating because of old school controls. so my response to tc, yes and no, each generation games get more moves to controll your character due to advances in tech/controllers. if in the first zelda you could do every move that you can do now it sould be a piece of cake. also, the hardest/most frustrating part of old zelda games(mainly the first one) is the fact that alot of areas seemed very simalar and it was confusing sometimes where you are going. so in other words, its not that the zelda(or any other 20+ year old series) is getting easier, its just that your able to do more moves, run jump, dodge, etc.... if all current zelda games had the same amount of controls/moves/map of the orignal game it would be as "hard"
