I sure wish you would have posted more about how you felt. Three letters doesn't do much for the thread, methinks.
Apple needs to worry about Apple. The lack of quality coming to i-gadgets from the iStore is readily seen by gamers in the know.
I guess iRobots/iPhonies will be happy about this...not that they are a faction in SW as of yet.
Apple has a point with Nintendo's DS, but not the PSP. The PSP is so much better then the DS they shouldn't even be used in the same comparision.
They don't even call them games  Something is fishy. They should mention that only 10 of those 50,000 games are DS/PSP quality.

My bad. My thoughts that how can you compare 50 K shovelware games to PSP and DS gamesI sure wish you would have posted more about how you felt. Three letters doesn't do much for the thread, methinks.

I think the iPhone and PSP are comparable (I have both and graphics seem to be near the same quality, though a little better on iPhone imo), but both are no where near the DS. If Apple does have a dedicated gaming platform, Nintendo will just crush them like they did to Sony.Apple has a point with Nintendo's DS, but not the PSP. Wow they have 50,000 pieces of garbage that can be downloaded on their phones. Real impressive.Parasomniac
i agree
hmmmm if i were sony/nintendo I'd call them back out and be like hmmm
you may have seen apples graph of number of games on the iphone
but what they havent told you is.... would you rather be playing a game that has no depth and without buttons or games that have great graphics and story telling

Um there are games on the iPhone that have depth. Also, the graphics are better than the DS.[QUOTE="DarthaPerkinjan"]I think the iPhone and PSP are comparable (I have both and graphics seem to be near the same quality, though a little better on iPhone imo), but both are no where near the DS. If Apple does have a dedicated gaming platform, Nintendo will just crush them like they did to Sony. Why do you compare the iphone and PSP using graphics? If that's your way of determining equality then why is the DS beating them? Why not compare the quality of the games where the iphone can't compare imo.Apple has a point with Nintendo's DS, but not the PSP. The PSP is so much better then the DS they shouldn't even be used in the same comparision.

The iPhone really can't compare with the PSP with games. Hero of Sparta is nothing compared to Chains of Olympus. It's full of knock off games. Like Sandstorm and Nova which are like Call of Duty and Halo. I was just saying that it's no where near the DS, but the PSP doesn't really have all that many great games either (at least compared to the DS), so it's more like the PSP.I'm a bit dubious as to how well Apple would compete in a "real" games market. 50,000 games sold would be fantastic if they were $30. When they are between 1 and 5 dollars though it makes their numbers a bit misleading.
[QUOTE="Anjunaddict"]Um there are games on the iPhone that have depth. ParasomniacCare to name some? Well from what I own and what Im considering, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Broken Sword, Final Fantasy, Rayman 2, Call of Duty: Nazi Zombies, Zenonia, Red Alert 3 ....

Apple can talk when the mindless games on their smart phone are anywhere near as good as what Sony and Nintendo make. Until then, they can kindly shut up.

Did Apple try to mock Nintendo and Sony by saying they have more number of games? When most of Apple's games are no different from flash games? :|
Though I can see why they are doing this. The casual people who have no idea about gaming will eat this up.
EDIT : And regarding their numbers :- Lies, damned lies, statistics.
Its quality ,not quantity that matters. For gaming I would take a PSP or a DS over anything Apple makes.

Because almost all of its quality games are old ports. Not really, there are plenty of new games that are great, such as Fieldrunners, Doodle Jump, Robocalypse, Rolando, Tap Tap Revenge etc. I'm not trying to say its better than the DS because its not, nor can I see it overtaking the DS. But stop bashing its library. Yeah, the app store is filled with crap but if you take the time to look through all the crap, there are a load of gems in there that arent just "old ports"[QUOTE="Anjunaddict"][QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"] How many of those can't be found on a less expensive handheld?

A Face palm of the HIGHEST ORDER is needed!
If Apple wants to get serious in the Gaming Industry then they will need to make a Device that is BUILT FOR GAMING!
i feel sorry for apple. steve jobs especially. the last time they acted this arrogant, jobs quit (rather than getting fired), then CEO Sculley ran the company to the ground, and apple almost filed for bankruptcy (then got a bailout from MS). if history repeats itself, i'm going to laugh my ass off.

oh...you don't want them to do that.

Yeah...allthis chart showed is how much more profitable making games for NDS is compared to iPhone. Even in US NDS games still bring in almost 4 times as much revenue as iPhone ones, and outside of US iPhone popularity is far smaller. So, despite having 12 times less games NDS is bringing at least 4 times more money, which means that on average NDS game brings about 50 times more money than iPhone one.
I think that this image shows exactly what's wrong with gaming on the iPhone.Teufelhuhn
And that US, revenue marketshare in mobile games outside US is far smaller for Apple
iphone gamers enjoy bejewled psp gamers enjoy socom. they don't compare. yes iphone sells more but what would you rather play?
meh apple your tooo late given the fact that ds has combined to sell over 120 million and is ready for the next big step which is 3d gamign that puts ipad right in the obsolete section ----
cause all it is is a first gen ds with flashy graphics -which 3ds will have better , , can we say gc visuals and looking at re4 gc we know what to expect as aposed to a watered down version of re4
and its priced to sell mean while the ipad=499,99 plus tax whos gonna pay big bucks just to play 5-3 yr old ports
sorry it may have worked for a 199,99 psp but it wont work for a 500 handheld that your forced to use a touch screen for just about everythign ,
where as on ds its practically up to the developer whether or not you use it most ds games us the 2nd screen for maps etc
zelda and cod are the only games i my self own that force you to use the screen
[QUOTE="Greyfeld"]The thing is, cell phones are steadily becoming handheld computers, and the games built for these devices are along the same lines as games developed for the PC. 1% quality titles, and 99% shovelware and flash games. 23 reskins of Bejeweled doesn't actually count toward the "quality gaming" list.nintendo-4lifeby your claim there are 500 quality games for the iPhone already...I guess it really is starting to dominate :?
80% of numbers on the internet are made up on the spot.
So... .01% quality titles?
This. At this particular time, I'd definitively choose either Sony's or Nintendo's handhelds as they're both focused on games. The day Apple decides to a gaming handheld that may change. Its quality ,not quantity that matters. For gaming I would take a PSP or a DS over anything Apple makes.
