Apple is a great company, and they make great products. I think it would be cool if they made a game system. What do you think? What should it do? What should it be called?

AND!!!! It will be called. The iConShattered007Nice. I don't want to see Apple anywhere near the console mkt.
I actually don't want apple making a game console, instead I'd rather have them get developers to make some games for their own computers! I have a $2600 macbook pro that has hardly any games for it (good games at least). The sad thing is it can play crysis and other games when I boot it up with windows xp so I know it's capable of playing games but it's inconvenient to have to use the inferior windows OS. On top of that, I don't think developers would be thrilled to have to develop for another console. Don't get me wrong though, I agree apple makes great products (love my Macbook Pro and iPod) and I wish they could put microsoft in their place but I don't think they could ever compete in the gaming market.Apple is a great company, and they make great products. They already did make a game system, and it sucked. That is why they don't do games anymore. BTW the apple system would have no third party support, just like thier computers, and ipods. They would be overpriced, like macs and ipods, and lack features like ipods (other than the ipod touch). If they made it like the iphone, cheap and packed with features it would be great.Apple is a great company, and they make great products. I think it would be cool if they made a game system. All you apple fanatics make me laugh. You guys just love paying for overpriced computers. If apple made a console it would be overpriced.... have less software... and not perform as good as other consoles.... yet somehow with amazing marketing it would sell like crazy. Have fun buying it.... because I sure as hell won't.Apple is a great company, and they make great products. I think it would be cool if they made a game system. What do you think? What should it do? Here's how Apple makes its "great products." Ready?
STEP 1> Take Intel, Nvidia standard PC components that you buy from the manufacturer
STEP 2> take white plastic case
STEP 3> insert standard components into said case
STEP 4> place Apple logo on front
STEP 5> preload OS filled with gaping security flaws you'll never fix because you don't have to
STEP 6> Jack price up to several times what you paid to manufacture it...make sure that you always double competitors prices on similar or superior model PCs. Most importantly, make sure everything is unnecessarily non-upgradable. Make your software and hardware completely closed and you're done!
Yessir, that's how you get an Apple. Oh, wait. No, they shouldn't make an operating system. Because all it would be is a pile of crap with a white plastic (or maybe "iodized aluminum") case jacked up to an absurd price margin.
Then try and get software developers to make games for it. Oh weait. Looks like Apple fails on that one too.

Welcome aboard, Apple! I'd really love to see them in the business instead of Microsoft.metalgear-solid
Apple doesn't promote commodity/cloning hardware market, so they are worst than Microsoft. Imagine a company with 90 percent of the OS market with one PC vendor. Apple's iPhone development ecosystem is equated to dictatorship.
Apple, no thanks! The only good product apple have in the market is the iphone. Everything else is overpriced components for the technophobe.
But the thing I hate most about apple is the **** itunes, talk about bloatware, i Mean when you need 3 services lots of ram and even a patch to not have a BSOD just for a music player you know you failed hard.
The point is it's NOT just for music.Apple, no thanks! The only good product apple have in the market is the iphone. Everything else is overpriced components for the technophobe.

While I love Apple, I'm typing this up on my five year old eMac, Apple has no business doing anything involved with games.ROBBYBEAR1985Their latest MacBook Pro is not bad at playing wintel games i.e. Geforce 9400M IGP (16 streams) + Geforce 9600M GT(32 streams) in hybrid SLI and hybrid power.
well, apple should consider it. plus, it's time for nintendo to get a real competitor in the casual games market. since the hardcore games market is already saturated enough, apple should make a casual gaming console that looks like the mac mini to compete with the wii. i think the name iPlay is ok. with apple competing with nintendo, nintendo will try to release better games on the wii, which will be good to wii owners.Syaz1Excellent Point! Really the Wii is without competitors at the moment. If Apple jumped into the fray it could only mean good things for gamers. Competition is always good! I think that would actually make an interseting market, Sony and Microsoft battling for the traditional gaming market and Nintendo and Apple battling for . . . well everybody.

that's right. competition will make nintendo more responsible over their customers. besides, apple surely wants opportunity to get more profits.
NO, they shouldn't. If it's anything like their computers, It will be an overhyped, overprice piece of crap with no real software support.
And I love how people will say "They'll be better than Microsoft" No, they will be far, far worse. Apple is much more monopolistic than anybody and it's amazing how they get away with it.
They dont just jack the price up for no reason, they actually put the latest hardware in their computers. My macbook when i got it, has a intel core 2 duo t8300, but my work, which sells laptops has yet to see anything above a t5800 and thats been a whole year. With that being said, was it worth the price tag? NOPEHere's how Apple makes its "great products." Ready?
