Are 8th gen console exclusives worth buying a next gen console for?
Do you think games like Bloodborne and Bayonetta alone are worth the big $400?
I say nay.
What sayeth you SW?

Nope... probably wont until the end of their life... where they are 50% of the price... and actually have 5-10 worthwhile exclusives.
well for the wiiu, if you like nintendos games, yes. i got a good deal on a wiiu and a bunch of games so it has earned its keep in my book.
for the PS4 and X1....nothing interests me yet. horizon looks promising but its going to take more than 1 game for me to get a console.
Wii U I guess, but in that case, you are, very literally, buying the console only for its exclusives.
Xbone could be the worst multi-console / pc friendly console ive ever used due to shipping exclusives to PC.
it could be the worst
I remember playing snes/pc ps1/pc ps2/pc 360/pc this is the first i have ever seen where you could go PC and not buy an xbone and ps4 got some things tho right now.
Yes if its Wii U. As for the twins, there just isn't enough good exclusives to warrant a purchase. You'd be better off with a PC. You get most of the console exclusives from both the twins this way.
If you like Nintendo games, Wii U is a good buy for exclusives. Of course, exclusives are pretty much all the system has.
I assess the value of the consoles I buy on the amount of fun I'm having with them. Don't care if the game is exclusive like Bloodborne and SO which have been great fun or multiplat but enjoyed with friends like MCC and Arkham.
I say nay.
For now .. depends.
For me not yet but soon it will ... PS4 that is. I really like Bloodborne , UC4 looks phenomenal , Last Guardian will be my style of game for sure , The last of US 2 will come to the system for sure , FF7 remake time exclusivity is a plus since i wont wait to play it , new Ratchet is a must play platform for me , Shenmue 3 , Horizon looked promising , Persona 5 looks good , SF5 console exclusivity is a must since i doubt Sf5 will have a solid net play for PC ( if it will i wont bother with PS4s version ) , for sure there will be Bloodborne 2 in some point , Gran Turismo franchise is always top notch .... and if i add everything else like Infamous etc ... oh well ...
After 15 years since my last console i seriously thinking to buy a new .. PS4 that is. All im waiting for now is UC4 and a nice price cut and im sold. Till then playing with friends or rent will do the trick.
lol Xbox exclusives? Never hear of them. For PS4, not yet and the Wii U is dead so might as well wait for the NX.
Your cow bell is ringing quite loudly this morning, you always have to throw in some kind of stupid quip about the Xbox...
SO far and from what I'm seeing from the near future no. Besides the forced online fee and weak hardware, the lack of quality games and exclusive first party tittles that push the boundaries like the last of us is the reason I keep not owning one.
People don't buy consoles just for exclusives but of course you know that you just wanted another console hate thread. Tip: don't like them? Don't buy one. Rocket science? Nope.
Not now I'd only get a Wii U by the end of this gen where the console and most of the games I want can be bought for $300. Wii U may have more exclusives than PS4 and Xbox One but a lot of them lack replayability or long hours of gameplay.

What? Why would I do such a sinister thing?
Because console exclusives make you insecure about your platform of choice and you want other people to tell you they all suck so you can sleep better at night.
;) did i do it right?
Buy the console your friends/peers play on.
I've been saying that for a while now, I was glad the other day I was just browsing through GameStop and a dad came in asking whether he should get his kid a PS4 or Xbox One and the employee just straight up told him to see what consoles his son's friends have before deciding which purchase to make, and explaining the importance and fun of playing with your friends in online multiplayer and how it makes things better.

I call it: My collection of PS4 games worth owning if you have a PC.

Oh so your opinion? lol
Well that is more games than what PC has produced for upgrading PC hardware for anything produced this generation so I guess PS4 wins. Cool.

Used this gif plenty of times before.Right, I think I get it now. You mostly game on PC, did no research whatsoever about what games were available on PS4 (or you'd know it mostly shares multiplats with PC) and bought one anyway and now you're going to hate endlessly on consoles because of your own stupidity.
Okay well, carry on then I suppose.
For Wii U? Absolutely
For the other two? Not really. There's Bloodborne and... Horizon might be good...
Wii U: Super Mario 3D World, CAPTAIN TOAD, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros? Yea, I'd say it's worth it.
XBONE: Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 5. Not yet, although I'm having to stop myself because I want all 3 of those pretty bad ^_^
PS3: Infamous Second Son, Bloodborne, and...umm...maybe Drivclub. Not yet.
Wii U has been alright. It's a drought machine for sure, but if you're playing all your other games on a PC and just want the odd exclusive here and there, it does its job.
PS4? Nah, not so far. But I bought one anyways.
Xbone? I don't even own one, but it seems to be in the same boat as the PS4.
People don't buy consoles just for exclusives.
I do. Many people here do.
I get it, for the general gaming populace people are buying one platform that they do all of their gaming on.
But for people who game on multiple platforms? They're certainly not buying up all those platforms just to play multiplats.

Of course, but we all know what exclusives are available for each platform. To buy a PS4 for exclusives then complain there aren't many (we all knew that) is naive at best and let's face it, pretty damn stupid at worst.
I know what's coming for PS4 and I'm quite happy. Xbox One, yeah I'm a bit pissed off that I bought a console that shifts all its exclusives to PC but I didn't see that coming as MS's reaction to X1 failing.

I buy consoles only for exclusives. Except in the rare case of shit port, buying a PS4 to play multiplats would be redundant to me.
Despite what I've said I'm legitimately looking for reasons to buy a console, but I simply can't find any. I'm not inherently a PC fanboy either, I owned a PS3 last gen and all consoles back in Gen 6. I did not actually buy a PS4 for one game, I bought BB and "rented" the PS4 from a friend. I did plenty of research on what exclusives it had, there weren't enough for me to justify the purchase.
I like playing games, that's the bottom line. There's just no quality exclusives on console and, especially for consoles, they rely too much on multiplats.

So basically you lied about buying a PS4 so you could complain about the lack of exclusives despite the fact the vast majority of people who bought PS4 bought it knowing most of the games would be multiplats.
I'm going to be honest here, you're fucking pathetic. Why are you so desperate to troll a system you don't even own? If you don't like it fucking ignore it.
@blueinheaven:
All I was saying is that some people do indeed buy consoles just for exclusives.
As for the rest, my PS4 purchase was based solely on good faith. Same with the Wii U really. I always buy Sony and Nintendo consoles because Sony and Nintendo always deliver on some good exclusives.
My PS1, PS2 and PS3 delivered big time, so wouldn't my PS4? It's a Sony console, it has the best hardware of the bunch and it's affordable. What could go wrong? Yet somehow they really haven't delivered on much of anything. I don't doubt that by the end of the gen it will have its fair share of must-play exclusives, but god damn they're taking their sweet time lol.
@blueinheaven: people can buy whatever they want with their money. If he only buys a ps4 for bloodborne and exclusives thats his business and probably will encourage sony to make more good exclusives to see that they sell the system better than other games.
I know people who bought xbone only for mcc and bought ps4 for only gta 5
People buy whatever they want if they only want one game on it thats fine imo.

The Wii U is pretty much approaching the end of its lifespan, now is the time to buy one.
@ConanTheStoner:If you want the best hardware, build a PC. Don't know where to start? Here's this link to help you plan your budget. A $600 build would be overkill to a PS4, mind you.
I admire your loyalty, though it is naively placed. Company loyalty to a customer begins and ends with your purchase of their product.

lol, I'm guessing this reply was probably meant for someone else.

as heil would've said "in PS4 we trust"
Between the 3 consoles they have 2 great games to show for them: Bayonetta 2 and Bloodborne, and after that there is The Wonderful 101 which wins me over by being something unique even in a genre that is Platinum's bread and butter.
After that though I don't care for the rest of the exclusives. While the WiiU has good exclusives (unlike the other 2), they fall under more Mario (except not as good), More Donkey Kong, More Smash, more Mario Kart. Which is fine when they make some impressive changes/shifts, but at this point I know what i'm going to get from a lot of Nintendo's stuff. Splatoon I guess is another, since it is also unique. My beef with that is the early access nature of it.
The other 2 boxes? I want to like Sunset Overdrive, but I don't like it more, the combat gets way too easy and the mission designs suffer from the same thing other open world games do. Forza Horizon 2 is more Forza Horizon, hooray I guess. PS4 wise, The Order sucked, I don't really care for a Baseball game, and I think Infamous Second Son is a mediocre action game at best that has excuses made for it because it looks "pretty", and I mean console pretty, not actual pretty.
The PS4 I have more faith in validating itself with The Last Guardian, Persona 5, and the like, and the Xbox One I could see Scalebound being a gem purely on Kamiya being a beast. But, otherwise I'm not exactly sweating any exclusive lineup right now. I care more about what's happening from third party multiplat developers and independent developers.
