All I was saying is that some people do indeed buy consoles just for exclusives.

As for the rest, my PS4 purchase was based solely on good faith. Same with the Wii U really. I always buy Sony and Nintendo consoles because Sony and Nintendo always deliver on some good exclusives.

My PS1, PS2 and PS3 delivered big time, so wouldn't my PS4? It's a Sony console, it has the best hardware of the bunch and it's affordable. What could go wrong? Yet somehow they really haven't delivered on much of anything. I don't doubt that by the end of the gen it will have its fair share of must-play exclusives, but god damn they're taking their sweet time lol.

Yea, Sony does seem to be behind on it's exclusives. I mean, I think a bigger problem is that they've published a number of big stinkers. They really need to stop doing that - exclusives are advertising, and you shouldn't advertise with manure.

Hopefully the exclusive drought is a result of longer development times, and not Sony thinking they can be successful with third-party titles.

To be honest there aren't really any games on either the PS4, X1 or Wii-U that scream "buy me". I bought my PS4 for MGSV Phantom Pain (multiplat but since I'm slowly transitioning from gaming computers to Macbooks anyway) and the occasional social gaming of FIFA/COD since everyone else has a PS4.

@ConanTheStoner:If you want the best hardware, build a PC. Don't know where to start? Here's this link to help you plan your budget. A $600 build would be overkill to a PS4, mind you.

I admire your loyalty, though it is naively placed. Company loyalty to a customer begins and ends with your purchase of their product.

What a P.O.S. guide trying desperately to give PCs better value than consoles.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit or go home, and that costs like $150 ($200 where I live, but higher prices than the U.S.). So add that to every build on there.

And then there's the SSD. Who buys a PC in 2015 (or heck who would buy one in 2011) without an SSD? and in another $100 to every build on there.

Then there's Mouse/KB which hasn't been included so add at least $100 for that...

My mouse cost me $80 and my keyboard about $200.

Doesn't seem so impressive anymore now does it

I agree with you on the SSD.

Win 7 Ultimate? Really? Home Premium is enough. Here in germany, there are deals where you get Professional for < 30€.

Mouse / KB can work well for 50 bucks. My Keyboard was 35€, my mouse was 10€.

Everyone who understands how marginal the impact of an SSD is compared to its price.

Seriously, who do think gives a **** about how much you overspend on your peripherals?

If you think you need to spend more than $40 on your Kb/M, you're delusional.

Well that was the most ghetto ass keyboard I've ever seen in my life. Wouldn't touch those keys with a 20 foot pole, let alone my fingers. Mechanical keys or go home. Ducky/Filco keyboards are where its at.

I find it weird how people scream "PC master race" then use a $10 keyboard, $150 monitor and $20 logitech speakers.. Sounds like peasant race to me. Come @ me bros Bowers & Wilkins surround sound / Ducky keyboard / Elite Kuro TV

I'd be mindblown if I saw a gaming PC (or mid range PC in general) from 2012 or newer that didn't include an SSD. 2015 is just unacceptable to not have an SSD IMO.

I always get the Ultimate versions of OS', my country (Norway) has never had any great deals on OS' as far as I know, but apparently you can get an OS for $15...

As for mouse / KB.. you say yours cost €35 and I'll assume its not mechanical? Well I for one won't settle for a keyboard that's not mechanical :L

Ducky starts around $120 for the most basic keyboards

Das Keyboards are also absolutely beautiful and majestic to use, cost around the $120-170 mark too.

Filco - also incredibly well made keyboards with an absolutely luxurious feel.. can cost more than $200..

Sounds like a lot of money for a keyboard I know, but if you've ever typed on a quality mechanical keyboard you'll never be able to go back to regular rubber crap keyboards.

What? Why would I do such a sinister thing?

Because console exclusives make you insecure about your platform of choice and you want other people to tell you they all suck so you can sleep better at night.

;) did i do it right?

I call it: My collection of PS4 games worth owning if you have a PC.

Oh so your opinion? lol

Well that is more games than what PC has produced for upgrading PC hardware for anything produced this generation so I guess PS4 wins. Cool.

False. Some multiplats are so unomptimized that it requires you to upgrade for a passable experience lol.

Yeah it makes zero sense to me. I haven't checked in a while but I think just a sound card alone is over half the price of a ps4.

It is the ultimate numbers game for a lot of people. The most pixels at the fastest framerates. 144hz at the cost of the image quality you paid so much for. There's this blind fanboy mindset that if the numbers add up in terms of resolution then that is a reference image, yet it couldn't be further from the truth as those monitors aren't suited towards games. ..."lol, 1080p" yet plasma screens are the most well rounded displays available.

We're talking necessities here, not luxury, as the latter is subjective.

Mechanical keyboards and SSDs are just a bandwagon that people have been hopping on mindlessly as of late.

If you're on a budget, those are first to go and for good reason.

Skimping on the hardware to get a $200 mechanical keyboard is a sign of a true peasant.

I also don't see you critisizing the mouse. I guess you don't need a $80 one after all, huh?

And to the last part, yes, those are proper no-BS Windows keys.

When did I ever say that some one needs a $80 mouse? I believe I said you should add $100 to the budget for a DECENT keyboard + DECENT mouse. a $10 keyboard from 1997 isn't decent, its what a peasant would use.

There's nothing technically wrong with the mouse, but I love the R.AT. 7 .. which costs a lot more.

At the moment? Probably not.

Within the next 9 months or so? Absolutely. By that time Xbox will have Halo 5, Quantum Break, Scalebound (most likely), and Sunset Overdrive. PS4 will have some notable exclusives as well like Uncharted and others.

This Xmas would a good time to pick one up.

That can be said about any format and any gen. Silly question. Of course there are games on those consoles some people want to play.

And why the **** is SW so worried about exclusives? If you want to play games.....get something to play them on. Third party games ARE GAMES people.

At this current moment? Probably not. Give it time until games like Uncharted and Halo are out though and I'd say yes, the consoles are definitely worth purchasing for their exclusives. These are games I really enjoy though.

The Wii U has been worth it for some time now in my opinion.

There's nothing technically wrong with the mouse, but I love the R.AT. 7 .. which costs a lot more.

If we're talking gaming peripherals, nothing besides keyboards uses mechanical switches. Every gamepad/fightstick/flightstick uses rubber domes and microswitches.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Not everyone likes mechanical switches. They're well suited for typing, but a 4-5mm key travel isn't optimal for gaming, no matter how much PR bullshit you've been fed.

The only crucial thing for every keyboard is rollover, which that cheap-ass keyboard i listed is having a better go at than your $200 ones by simply being a PS/2 NKRO Master Race.

A mouse with a good sensor is, no doubt, a must (which, by the way, RAT 7 isn't - shitty +accel, like with all laser sensors). But those come in all kinds of prices and there's really not a lot of them to choose from. With symmetrical, cheap and sturdy g100 being an easy go-to mouse for anybody, especially those who're new to PCs.

So no, as a baseline, decent peripherals don't cost $100.

As a luxury, sure, you can go any length with the budget. Preferably if you're actually sure that you know what you want and not just blindly following trends.

I don't follow trends... I simply have an eye for quality. I used IBM mechanical keyboards for years and preferred them over shitty rubber dome keyboards. Thank god I found out brands like Filco, Ducky and Das Keyboard existed. Also thank god for the mechanical KB trend as now Corsair, Steelseries, Razer and other low quality crappy gaming oriented companies have started making mechanical keyboards.

Even worse lol.. my headphone's (Denon D5000) amplifier/DAC (Digital-Analog-Converter) costs about $1000 (Burson HA-160) which is two-and-a-half-PS4s

99% of mustard race users are actually peasants that play with crappy sound quality (plastic speakers from Creative/Logitech instead of real speakers from Dali, B&W, KEF, Klipsch, JBL, Dynaudio, etc..) , crappy picture quality (cheap monitors as apposed to a quality 1080p plasma e.g. my 9G Kuro) and cheap peripherals.

If that makes them "master race" I must be "God race" then.

And I don't skimp on hardware to get a $200 mechanical keyboard.. I can equally expensive hardware and THEN add another $200 for a high quality mechanical keyboard (which believe me is so worth it)

There's nothing technically wrong with the mouse, but I love the R.AT. 7 .. which costs a lot more.

You guys are ridiculous, I don't think you will find much more measurably better about a $200 keyboard than a $20 keyboard other than lifespan and maybe some sticking keys.

The mouse? Maybe the difference between a laser and optical mouse would be worth it but really all the other flash things i've found totally useless. Has anyone found a real measurable use for the different weights you can add to that one gaming mouse?

Well that was the most ghetto ass keyboard I've ever seen in my life. Wouldn't touch those keys with a 20 foot pole, let alone my fingers. Mechanical keys or go home. Ducky/Filco keyboards are where its at.

I find it weird how people scream "PC master race" then use a $10 keyboard, $150 monitor and $20 logitech speakers.. Sounds like peasant race to me. Come @ me bros Bowers & Wilkins surround sound / Ducky keyboard / Elite Kuro TV

As for the $15 copy of Windows 7.. holy shit was not aware. Not that I've every had to buy my OS' but that's pretty cool. You can buy a PC from scratch and just add W7 U64 for $15 right? without having any OS at all I mean.

We're talking necessities here, not luxury, as the latter is subjective.

I'm not saying anyone has to spend $200 on a keyboard, just that I did and I have no regrets what so ever.

As for the difference for a $20 keyboard and a $200... Obviously the design on a $200 will be a lot more aesthetically pleasing and more importantly (for me and many other users) $20 won't get you a mechanical keyboard. $100+ will.

Plus I doubt you can get LED backlit keyboards for $20..

Yep, you end up paying for a nice looking keyboard more than a "Better" keyboard.

@skelly34:

If you have an updated PC or any one console you are fine at this point, it's not like last gen with all 3 being worth while. I guess there is an argument for Wii u though.

"You guys"?

I'm the one actually arguing for cheaper peripherals here.

Keyboard - matter of preference, generally no big difference unless it has an awful rollover. Which, by the way, expensive gaming keyboards are not protected from.

Mouse - pick one that suits your hand/budget from the list i posted. All others have varying problems with their sensors. I don't know what you've meant by "difference between a laser and optical mouse would be worth it" - laser sensors are garbage by default, they all have inherent positive acceleration.

Mouse weights are a stupid, useless gimmick, just like those "extra gaming buttons" and LEDs on gaming keyboards.

No, not even close to being worth the money yet. I would have said that Halo 5 would push me over the edge, but now with no split-screen multiplayer at all, I have no reason to buy one. None of my friends own consoles and one of the few things I use my 360 for these days is local multiplayer on D3 and Halo. So with that cut, I have no reason to buy one. All the games I'm interested in are either multiplats or timed exclusives, I'll pick them up when they come to the PC.

Now, if MS were to backtrack (as they are want to do lately) on the no local multiplayer for Halo 5, then I might still be interested. Barring that, I'm perfectly happy waiting another year or two to buy one as there is nothing on either console that is a "must play" now or in the immediate future.

Yes..

If you didn't own a 360 last gen and are looking to purchase a XBO.

If you didn't own a PS3 last gen (like me.. for the most part) and are looking to purchase a PS4.

Otherwise No!

This entire topic is bizarre to me as is your answer. New games are out now. If you want to play them then you need something to play them on. You can't play new games that only on the current gen on last gen consoles. Why the **** is the word exclusive matter? If you see a third party game you want to play....guess what you need to get?

The Wii U is worth it, but only just worth it.

The other 2... well, not yet, at least.

I've been saying that for awhile now.

Same here. Some people that call themselves master race are really just laptop warriors and I've called them out years past.

That's why I can't take PC gamers seriously when they spew insults to consoles. There is such a wide disparity in PCs that devs don't even optimize the games as they have to hit the low points as well.

Hahaha. That made me laugh....

On topic: So far, nothing compelling is on Consoles to make me buy one.

As for upcoming games: Horizon is a start but I doubt I'll pick up Consoles anytime soon. Quantum Break is another excellent Console game but I'll wait for it to be announced for PC first. If it doesn't show up then that will be one of the reasons to get a Console later down the road.

There's nothing on them for me at the moment, which is why I've not bought one.

Maybe once there are some good games out, that I can't get on PC, and they've had a decent price drop I'll think about it a bit more.

I'm going to get a PS4 with the first price drop. My gaming PC is a loaner from work, so I'm stuck with Windows 7 32-bit and I cannot upgrade the RAM (because of Windows) or the Powersupply (300 watt)...because I'm not supposed to modify the PC. I did, however, put a GTX650ti in it because it was capable of running off motherboard power.

Frankly, I'd rather drop $350 on a PS4 than a grand on building a new PC, since my PS3 has functioned as my media center in the living room.

I'm sorry but there is no input device that is worth spending $200 just to play a freakin' video game.

I'm guessing half of you "master race" folks will never retire or you have no hobbies outside of gaming.

Depends on the time frame OP is referring to. If he's talking about the present, then not really. If he's talking about in the future, sure.

TC if you're going to make a thread you need more than just a sentence. Give the OP some meat and something more discuss. Provide examples (such as the big exclusives on each platform) or something rather than just a few words.
