Are consoles really holding back PC?

I don't think so. Why? It's because there are legions of PCs being hobbled by crappy integrated graphics. Who's to say those underpowered PCs aren't to blame? I've seen enough PC gamers trying to game on underpowered desktops and laptops. If there's going to be blame, then the owners of those "crappy" PCs are to blame as well.

Yes, but this gen consoles proved to be very future proof (7 years into the gen and 360/PS3 games still look good for any standards). I think console gens shouldnt last more than 5 years though.

Yea, but to be honest I think the design decisions in BF3 and C2 have more to do with trying to appeal to CoD players than anything.

Also, I don't think BF2 was much better than BF3 but that's me.

Alan Wake when it was shown for the PC in 06 looked great, but when it became an xbox game it was nowhere near as good. So I'm going to say yes.

Alan Wake when it was shown for the PC in 06 looked great, but when it became an xbox game it was nowhere near as good. So I'm going to say yes.

yes and no, Graphics wise, **** no, you can just upscale all the assets on PC and add more particle effects to your hearts content. Mechanics wise, maybe, Most games are dseigned around a 512mb footprint with assets they can fit... but I have yet to play anything as awesome as demon souls and dark souls on pc, the multiplayer aspects of the game is some of the best innovation I've seen in gaming for quite some time, the area is awesome to explore (if you can see it you can likely go there...). Whats really holding back PC's is developers making console games that want to sell screen shots, everything gets toned down in favor of being able to take a good screen shot. Levels are smaller to make room for more assets, effects are **** (health gun in kz2? lolnades in uncharted)

Of course they are, and I'm not even a PC gamer.

When you see average Joe Blog making graphical enhancement mods to most games on pc, Yes, Id say consoles are holding back the pc.
