Are graphics in Nintendo games under-rated due to hardware?

Compared to what? Mario 64? It looks nice but if you consider that striking I don't even know what to say.

Or idiots who don't understand the difference between graphics and art style.

They're bound by technical limitations due to inferior hardware, but their first party games do look fantastic due to it's amazing art style.

BotW is still gorgeous due to it's art style and liveliness.

Pretty sure calling artsyle a part of "graphics" isn't wrong. Technical graphics I'd call resolution and whatnot. Being an idiot yourself before calling other people idiots is bad.

And Mario Odyssey does look striking thanks to artsyle, use of colors, animations, world design, etc. This is coming from a PC gamer with a high end rig.

Underrated? I think not. Pokemon is being enjoyed worldwide even with that visuals which is nothing to compare with the graphics of PC games like Dark Souls 3 or Witcher 3. It's really all about the quality of the whole game. I can play Undertale for a whole afternoon without caring about the visuals.

But I want my Zelda games in a cartoony quality.

It's part of their charm.

@nethernova: no, compared to anything. It's got great color, fluid animations, nice lighting, tons of character. Really masterful artistry. If you can't see that, then maybe YOU are the one who can't distinguish between artistry and visual fidelity. Because it looks great, regardless of realism and technical advancement

@Litchie: BOTW looks like the typical indie game you see on Playstation and Xbox. HZD art style is 1 of a kind and it shits on Zelda graphically. But let's not give GG credit where it's due because Nintendo.

LOL, ok. What a stupid post. Horizon looks great, but I'm not sure why I randomly should've given that game credit in a thread about Nintendo graphics.

I got a Switch as a gift from the wife over the holidays. I only wanted one to replace my aging Vita as a handheld and that's strictly what I use it for. As a handheld the graphics are awesome IMO. I only have three games tho but am very impressed with the graphics of BoTW and the new Mario game. The other game I have is NBA2k18, that looks awesome as well. Of course it is not as good as the copy I have on the PS4 Pro but man impressive non the less for what it is.
