Poll Are Microtransaction the norm now? (43 votes)
5+ years ago the very concept of microtransactionsin a $70 dollar game was enough to make people spit out their coffee, it seemed prosperous and laughable at the gall of it.
Now, with PES, Resident Evil, Assassins Creed, Metal Gear Solid, Fifa, Battlefield, Batman, Mortal Kombat e.t.c.. People have barely batted an eye-lid.
This was, of course, the plan all along.
Reviews (see gamespot) do not even take it into account, being given controlled reviews with micro transactions removed until launch, as exclusivity comes over credibility. Interviews, refusing to criticize, merely accepting PR responses of "it's optional", "It''s for convenience" and "it wont effect the game".
Have you, as exactly as the marketer wanted, given up and intuitively accepted it as the norm without a knee jerk reaction?
