Enjoy playing games on Linux, "real man".

Kickinurass

Wine, its a thing. You know, a thing that lets you play Windows games.

Or just partition that ol' harddrive and get the best of both worlds.

I'm currently setting up 4 partitions. Windows 7 Ultimate Windows 8 release Preview Linux (I want to know what version is good these days, I dont have a clue) and.. for the lolz Mac OS X LION!

No, these devs just need to take some lessons from Devs like CD Project Red and actually put that money into development costs and not a buttload of marketing. They also need to learn that not all games need Multiplayer and don't need money to be spend to have multiplayer. Now yes, depending on the area of the Studio costs will be different because of varying wages. But no, it does not cost more to do high poly, high resolution and such as most models are sclupted in Zbrush as a high poly, and then converted down via decimation within Zbrush to a low poly model that is transferred to 3D Studio Max or Maya. Photoshop files start at like 2049 or 4096 and get scaled down to 512/1024 currently.

Some lazier devs want the current consoles to stay around forever because they don't want to have to learn to code differently, keep in mind this is more of the programmers talking rather than the Artists, The artists love more power and better hardware so they don't have to destroy the original works as much by lowering the quality as much so it will run.

What I also don't get is most studios just use the Unreal Engine 3, so why in the world are they worried about costs when it's Epic who does the initial engine build? Epic already has UE4 now, so these studios really don't have to do to much. Only some companies like Rockstar, Square Enix, Naughty Dog, Epic build their own game engines and yet they aren't the ones compaining about new hardware and costs....

Right now I'm using Windows 7 environment. I look down on Linux user, you are pathetic. Yes, Windows 7 FTW.

Real men use Linux, while casual users who don't want to learn basic programming use Windows. Once you know basic programming, jump over to Linux, its far more stable with better security protection. Until then, stick with soccer-mom friendly Windows 7 operating system kid.

Yup, I'm an artist. My programs like Zbrush, 3DS Studio Max, Photoshop are all built for Windows. So are my games. And as an Artist programming isn't really my style. I would go Apple OS before I would ever go Linux.

Lol, thats like asking if technology is going to stop advancing. There will always be new software that allows people to make it faster. Better engines that are easier to work on.

If you are arguing about whether Linux or Windoes is better, there's a good chance you have never known the warm touch of a woman.

I was going to add "or man" to be politically correct, then I realized I didn't care.

Well, a lot of people would still consider Crysis to be the best looking game period and that came out in 2007 I think. I think that is more due to it being ahead of its time then games hitting any kind of graphical ceiling.

[QUOTE="MBirdy88"] Congratulations, you have discovered a long winded method of achieving insigifigant custimization and minimal gains at the cost of consistency and the one thing that actually matters, software support. your so smart, please show us lowly windows users the way ... with your amazing..... ..... oh linux.... as a personal computer, what are you even for.MBirdy88

Linux is actually really cool. Its pretty portable, can beused for plenty of things, and is excellent platform for developers. I do most of my productivity and development in linux. However I keep windows for games.

No doubt, but out of the big 3 operating systems windows is the middle line and most balanced. What is currently the the top few versions of linux to use? I havnt kept up with it in years...

Ubuntu is good, and Mint is a wrapper for Ubuntu that makes the transition for newer users easier.

Also, for whoever said wine to play games, as much as I love linux. and if you know 'a little programming' you would know thats a HORRIBLE idea mainly if your playing a game that pushes the capabilities of your computer

PC games would be at their peak, if they existed

No PC game exists that is DX11 only and no good PC game is exclusive

So, who really cares for PC gaming, there is no such thing

loosingENDS

I had no idea Xenonauts was coming to Xbox, I'm pretty sure the devs are just as suprised as I am.

I wish I could be as cool as you... Linux FTW... Coolio... Spongebob... Perfecto.

You look down on them because you're cheap? That's about the only reason I can see that.
