If you check other websites (I really don't feel like posting them), but Mirror's Edge for example is called a "free-running FPS franchise" in interviews with EA. I don't care if it is a platformer. It can be a platformer-FPS-action game for all I care. Stop acting like a game has to fit under one genre. It's ridiculous.

I wouldn't care if EA called it a business simulator, anyone who has played it should know it's not an FPS. Publishers like to invent their own genres, and in this case they probably said that because FPS is by far the most popular genre. It's still a platformer, though.
And I never said that games couldn't incorporate elements from other genres. Yes, Mirror's Edge has FPS elements. Does that make it an FPS? No, because it is not the central focus of the gameplay. There's even an achievement for making it through the game without firing a gun.
For some reason, games get branded FPS as soon as they feature FPS elements. It makes no sense. For comparison: STALKER incorporates RPG elements, but I think anyone who calls that game an RPG would be declared clinically insane on SW.
